Jamie was still very reluctant to go to the dinner, preferring to stay n the hotel and make sure things were okay. She hadn't forgotten the attack on Angelo, nor the attack in the street earlier that morning. It just seemd that very time she tried to take a little bit of time for herself, something happened.
She sighed, causing Jarvis to look over at her before rising and approaching her. Even as Jamie made to push him away, Jarvis engulfed her in a hug. Jamie struggled just for form, but had soon...melted against Jarvis.
"We have to keep the peace, Jamie. That means suffering through a dinner, which you normally enjoy"
Jamie thought it would be petty to say she didn't want to go, because she was hurting still from the earlier verbal assaults on her, so she didn't say anything, merely gave a non-committal sound, before wriggling free to continue getting ready, slipping on her boots and sword like another woman might a handbag and bracelet.
"You look like a warrior going into battle, not someone going to dinner"
And now Jamie grinned, flashing a quick glance towards Jarvis, "Good, as that's what it feels like" She had her blonde hair tied back, out of her face, as if expecting that she would need full viability, wore a shirt, jacket, and pants that all looked fancy, but that were easy to move in, and had lacrima's plastered like jewels on her belt, cutting a striking figure, that aside from the sword, wouldn't seem out of place in a restaurant, and with the way things were lately, she wasn't going out without her bade.
"I'll check on Amelia and Sam, see if they are ready"
"Sammy, are you ready yet?" Amelia asked, looking through her cloths for something to wear. Since this was a meeting between her family and two other guild masters, she figured she would wear something nice. But most of her cloths were meant more for ease of wear, traveling, and general convenience. She didn't have any dresses and she was starting to doubt she had anything appropriate.
"I'm ready!" Sam replied, rolling off the bed she had just flopped on, she had one shoe on and one shoe off, and the pony tail she had inexpertly done wa coming loose allowing strands of hair to escape, but didn't seem to notice that, watching Amelia move through her clothes, clearly dissatisfied.
Sam dived happily into Amelia's clothes, surfacing with something.
"Pretty!"
Jack stood in his room, reaching into a drawer and looking over it's contents. He was simply going to wear his normal clothes, not because the dinner wasn't worth something more, but because he was attempting to approach the situation on equal terms. His tirade today had been wrong, though perhaps a little bit needed to wake Jamie up to the very real issues surrounding her actions. Still, he hoped that when the night ended, the three guilds would part peacefully. Finishing his preparations, he turned and headed out of his room to the main floor of the hotel, getting a drink of water and drinking it while waiting for it to be closer to time for dinner.
Amelia groaned as she picked up Sam and set her aside.
"You shouldn't dive into other people's cloths. Now you've made a mess." she said, sighing as she looked around. She guess she would have to go in a casual outfit, since she had nothing else. Looking through her cloths and organizing them again, she picked out her favorite red shirt, a nice pair of jeans that weren't too worn out before slipping on her shoes. She put the rest of her stuff away before turning to Sam and frowning. Grabbing a nearby brush, she picked up her sister again and sat on their bed before undoing her sister's sloppy ponytail and running the brush through Sam's hair before tying it up again, only neater.
Fraquar sighed as he exited his guild's hotel and headed for Dragon Fang's. He was rather apprehensive about this meeting. He was willing to bet that Jamie would throw another tantrum again before storming out. Really, the woman could make a scene and not give a damn what anyone though. With that in mind, he made sure he was prepared for the incoming verbal assault. If they were lucky, they might all get through this dinner alive.
Sam frowned, as she'd only been trying to help, and crossed her arms in annoyance. The young girl withstood having her hair brushed and re-tied, but soon escaped, still only wearing on shoe. She darted out the room, and into the main sitting area, right into Jamie, who stopped her, "You're going no where with one shoe, missy"
"She needs to learn to sit still." Amelia commented, walking over to her mother, straightening up her hair while also getting her wings out of her shirt.
Fraquar arrived at the Dragon Fang hotel shortly and walked into the building, looking around for Master Jack and approaching his fellow guild master once he spotted him.
"Please tell me I'm not the only one feeling like we're going to a warzone." he said.
Jack looked up and chuckled at Fraquar's comment, sipping at his drink. "I refuse to treat it as such, no matter what Jamie is prepared to say. I may have shot off half cocked today, but that's no excuse for what happened. Had it been in reverse, I would have taken responsibility for Jackie's actions, as is my place as guild master. But that isn't the point. I intend to make peace, plain and simple."
Jamie just smiled, and she engulfed Sam in a hug, managing to pin Sam's arms to her side, and scooped her into the air, "Shes just a bundle of energy, but then, children often are"
Jamie plopped Sam onto the bed, and quickly slipped the other shoe on, and tying it. "Well then, are you ready, both of you?" Jamie would have liked to stall, but that seemed almost cowardice.
"I'm ready to go when you are Mama." Amelia said as she got her wings out from under her shirt. She was feeling a bit apprehensive. She knew this was going to be a tense meeting but she hoped everything would turn out okay.
"She shot at me for what Delsin and Pyrrha did. And I took responsibility, as it was my fault for not watching them. But she really didn't give a damn. Apparently, she thinks she could've kept my guild out of this competition. Fat chance." Fraquar said before sighing and rubbing the back of his head. "This whole fiasco is just insane. It feels like a powder keg that's been waiting to blow finally has and now everyone is trying to recover from it."
Jack chuckled and finished his drink, beckoning towards the doors and leading the way out. "It's a powder keg that blew when Jamie decided she could attack the high magic power in Fiore and not have some kind of repercussion happen. But that's besides the point. What happened today was unacceptable, and while she, without a doubt, reprimanded Angelo, she missed the point of my rant. But again, I'm not going to dinner to stir the pot, but put it to rest."
It was about a fifteen minute walk to the restaurant and Jack added Fraquar to the list for his reservation along with Jamie and her family, and then followed the Hostess to their table, where he and Fraquar sat and looked over the menu. "Dinner's on me tonight, so order what you'd like."
Jamie was silent as they made the way to the resturant, wishing she hadn't agreed to it. She didn't feel like anything would get resolved, nor did she see the point in trying to be friendly about it all.
Jarvis kept a hold of Sam so the young girl wouldn't go running off, silent in his calm, steady way, but Jarvis wasn't calm. The whole situation seemed ridiculous to him, blown way out of proportion, and this now seemed like excess. Angelo shouldn't have done what he had done, Jarvis agreed with that, but blaming them, before giving them a chance to do what was right, was crossing the line. Jarvis, of all people, knew what it was to have emotions run you, but he never considered it his right to poke into how another light guild was run, or to attack the master before they could do anything.
It looked like it was going to be a dangerous evening, as they reached the resturant, Jarvis wondered if things would become better, or worse.
Fraquar followed Jack to the restaurant and simply nodded at his statement about the meal being on him. He would save his words until the other guest arrived and the first shots were fired. He had no interest in starting a fight and he hoped there would not be one. Hopefully Jamie would be civil and simply talk, preferably in a calm manner.
Amelia was probably the only one other then Sam who wasn't nervous about the dinner. She knew that there was a lot going on and that her mother and father were definitely not in the best of moods but she was determined to enjoy herself and try and talk to both of the other Masters. When they arrived at the table, she flashed both Fraquar and Jack a smile as she took her seat, getting a few stares from the customers on account of her wings but she ignored them.
"How're you this evening Master Jack, Master Fraquar?" She asked.
"That is yet to be seen. Yourself, Miss Averyonna? Or has your last name changed? I hear Jamie and Jarvis has adopted you." Fraquar asked, returning the smile with a small one of his own. At least the child held no ill-will towards him for aiming to kill her it seemed.
"Not bad. And I still answer to Averyonna." Amelia replied.
Jack smiled back at Amelia and nodded. "I'm well, and glad to hear you are as well. Jame, Jarvis, I'm glad you came. Please, sit, order what you'd like, I'm paying for it tonight."
Jamie made sure that Sam was seated, and that she wouldn't run off, not particularly feeling very settled for a dinner. She used the few moments it took to at least not lash out, before sitting, deciding not to speak quite yet.
"well, it is best to get this cleared up before it becomes any worse"
As for this being fast... good luck with that, though it's likely Jamie will just storm out at some point by the looks of it and kinda prove our point.))
"I agree this should be cleared up, but if you're in a rush Jamie, then nothing will truly be accomplished." Fraquar said calmly, leaning back in his chair. "So, I suppose the first thing we should ask is what do you want out of this meeting?"
Jack cut in before anyone else could speak, not looking away from his menu. "This is supposed to be a pleasant evening and will only be so if we all relax. So, Jamie, I would appreciate it if you sent that sword of yours back to your room at your hotel. Secondly, we can address this afternoon's spats AFTER we've all ordered. Or would you rather make a scene in front of our waiter?"
"no, I'd rather not. We've been attacked in this city today, I'd rather keep my blade with me" Jamie said with what she consider admirable restraint.
But she did wait until after they had ordered, to reply to fraquar.
"what I want is to not have to worry one of my members will be attacked. What I want is to not be questioned when I haven't had the time to do anything, and what I want is to not be blamed for not knowing that Angelo was going to do what he did. I am many things, but A mind reader isn't one." Jamie said wearily, "Angelo knows what he did was wrong, and has been appropriately reprimanded. And if I had been given the time, it would have been done before this all occurred. I don't appreciate being attacked like I was.
As soon as It is possible, Angelo will apologize to Jackie. She's the one that deserves it"
Fraquar was more then ready to order when Jamie put her demands on the table. Rather then reply to her right away, he turned to Jack.
"I'll take a steak, well-done." He said before looking at Jamie and studying her. After a few seconds, he spoke. "I can guarantee none of those things Jamie. Life isn't fair enough to tell you that your guild or it's member will never be attacked. Life will never give you enough time to act before others lash out at you. And whether you like it or not, as a guild master, the actions of your guild reflect on you, some more then others. Thus, you will be judged for what they do, especially at events like the Magic Games. Out of all the guilds thus far, your guild has shown why magic is feared the most: In reckless hands, an ordinary person is capable of great and dangerous feats.
So tell me, after these games are done, what will you do? Go back to your guildhall and do nothing to improve your guild? Let them do whatever they want and try to pass the blame when they do something reckless and possibly destructive? Tell me, what do YOU, as the guild master of Phoenix Wing, plan on doing after all this is over?"
Jack held up a hand after ordering his own food. "Enough, both of you. Jamie, you came to this dinner expecting to be attacked because of the reactions of both myself and Jackie's friends this afternoon. I can understand that. However, I will not attempt to make peace while you are armed, nor will we get to stay here and actually eat if they find out you are armed, and I'm pretty sure, despite the current topic, some food would do us all good. That said, before we continue this discussion, I would like to apologize for going off half cocked after Jackie was hurt. However, I would like to say that I watched the reactions and listened to several conversations of non-mages after the battle and after our argument.
And those that didn't think it was all for show are terrified of what would happen if your guild turned. And it's not because of anything you've done, but because of Angelo's actions. What you choose to do with that information is your business, Jamie. Just know that it's something serious that you can't sweep under the rug with a simple reprimand and apology. As for apologizing to Jackie, well, as I told you earlier, she's in a magically induced coma and I don't know when they'll bring her out of it. What I do know is the moment they do, she'll be trying to move around of her own accord and that's going to not happen, so if you see her, please let me know." When their drinks arrive, he thanks the waiter and continues. "Now, with all that out of the way, I actually have an idea to suggest that we can attempt in the months after the Games to help all our guilds build trust with each other and for the three of us, four if you wish to join Jarvis, learn to get along. Are you willing to hear it?"
"and there's more people who feel safer knowing there is a guild out there willing to take the flack and do what needs to be done. Should we have just left the magic council, corrupt as they were, in power? I took the chance to take them down, yes, while serving my own ends.
There will also be those that fear a guild will turn, those that think magic is a dark substance. The guild will not turn, and if there is any indication of that, I will stop the members responsible.
You brought up some of my members pasts, in an attempt to show that they are willing to kill. our pasts make us, but they should not be a reason to distrust them. I know they are willing to kill, the difference is we promote not killing. It should always be a last resort.
A trust exercise will be pointless, if things fall as they seem to be doing. We are reckless, yes, but we have to be. The dark guilds are still rising in numbers. A we can't go out it as if it's all roses and Daisies." Jamie said, ignoring the demands to remove her blade. After today, and knowing that there were still potentials that could begin a fight, she would keep her blade with her.
"the simple fact is, the more power a guild has the more people will fear them turning, will resent them" Jarvis said patiently
Jack sighs and leans back, still waiting for their food. Jamie was determined to maintain a sour note, but he wasn't going to play her games tonight. "So you would prefer that we ignore that your actions and the rise in Dark guilds, are correlated? I'm going to be blunt Jamie, and I'm simply going to say that I am not in the mood for your games. I invited us all here to make peace and work on any other issues that are safe to discuss in public. This afternoon went poorly on EVERYONE'S part, not just one party's. The only reason things are falling apart is because you are in a defensive position because you feel we are attacking you. This is simply not the case and I think you're well aware of that. Jamie, this is neither the time or the place for a weapon. Even Fraquar left his behind, despite his reservations about attending." He let that sink in a moment, taking a sip of his drink, before continuing.
"Your actions with the Council are not the topic of discussion, but if you wish to know how I feel about it, you were foolish to completely bypass an entire series of proven fail safes and launch a one guild assault on the magic council. When previous councils were corrupt, the fail safes were used and they worked, time and time again. But, again, that is not why we are here and I don't wish to continue discussing something we all agree worked even if we don't all agree with the choices involved. As for why we are here, how about we start with, each of us apologizing. I am sorry for going off on you after Jackie got hurt, but you would do no less if it was one of your members."
"Fraquar hasn't been attacked in this city today. Fraquar hasn't had three members kidnapped during these games. I'd prefer not to risk my daughters lives for the social conception of not being armed" Jamie replied, firmly. "I wasn't armed the last time, Jack. Do not ask me to make the same mistake twice" Jamie's tone was cold, and indicted this was not something she would not budge on this.
"I'm not saying I wouldn't have approached you, but I never would have attacked how you teach and train your members like you did. And I would have gone after the member first, which would no doubt have caused something like this anyway, but I would never question how you care for your members" Jamie responded, not wishing to go into all the reason why she had led the guild to attacking the council, one of the main reasons being there hasn't been quite enough time to consider fail safes that might or might not work.
"dark guilds were rising before the council attack, Jack, and have steadily been rising over the last year or so. We connected it back to Angelica, but now they are still rising" Jarvis said, once more in that calm tone of his. "that is, of course, beside the point. We weren't there to attack the council, they began it when we requested a book that could save one of our members.
We'd do just about anything for our members, Jack. Angelo has always been a bit of a loose cannon, desperate, I believe, for simple acceptance and a place to belong. Perhaps we didn't see how far he'd go, but he deserved to be in the games, just like anyone else. And I was the one to pick our teams, as Jamie was away from the guild. I am the one that did not question what everyone would do, merely because I trusted them to know the limit. If anyone is to blame, it is me. I'm sorry for putting trust in my members, and I am sorry Jackie got hurt, but the way you acted was crossing a line"
Fraquar remained silent as Jamie, Jarvis and Jack talked (he had to wonder how many people whose names began with 'Ja' he knew.) but he also occasionally glanced over at Amelia. The girl had remained silent the entire time but only a fool or someone who wasn't watching her would be unable to tell she wasn't listening in closely. Now that there was finally a pause, he spoke.
"Jamie, while I understand that you don't want to be unarmed if your guild has been attacked you must remember that everyone here is technically armed. We all have magic, so we're not entirely defenseless. Not only that, but I think you insult Miss Amelia's ability to defend herself. Though I understand she still needs to recover from an encounter you had earlier today. Your caution is warranted but not needed. Both Jack and I would help you in an instant if trouble stirred." He said calmly. "As for this talk of dark guild's it is irrelevant. Stop trying to steer us off topic. We're here for what YOUR guild did, or more specifically, what Angelo did. A slap on the wrist will do nothing here. I respect that you chose him for the games to let him show what he is capable of. However, he has shown a bit too much and how reckless he is. It would be best to withdraw him, not only to make us to feel at ease but also the other guilds in the Games. You have an ample number of candidates to take his place. It might hurt him but he can grow from this. Let him grow, as a mage and a man. I do not think that is asking for much."
As Fraquar finished, the food arrived and Jack sighed, letting the table sit in silence for a few minutes as everyone ate their meals. He watched Miss Averyona as they ate in silence, wondering when she would weigh in on the discussion. After about five minutes, he spoke again. "What happens to Angelo after the match today is, frankly, none of my business, nor yours, Master Fraquar. The boy learned something about recklessness today, if nothing else, and will be sure to keep better control on himself because of it. It is also the decision of the Game Master if Angelo gets to continue fighting, since what happened today would affect the public opinion on the Games going from a showcase of magic to a gladitorial pit of mages in a heartbeat. Once more, it is not our business unless Jamie wishes to inform us."
Once more, he let his words sink into everyone around him before continuing. "Now, with that said, tonight is not about what could, would, or should be done. It is about all of us admitting, in someway or another, that we were wrong today. And apologizing. I couldn't name any specific way you, Jamie, or you, Fraquar, were wrong, but I know we all were. I can say, that lines were likely crossed by all, in more ways than one. So before we dig up any more trouble between us, let's bury the current hatchet first, hm?"
"you're magic is a little bit more...contained then mine, and magic runs out. We are not pulling Angelo out of the games, as that would show a complete lack of faith in him. His battle is over, his event is done. For all intense and purposes he is finished, except for perhaps the last day." Jamie said, again her tone indicating that she would not budge on this.
"some things can't be put aside by a simple apology, Jack" Jamie's tone became soft, "You hurt me, and some wounds can't be healed in mere hours"
Jamie gave a sigh, "Angelo will apologize, and I accept responsibility for him, like I do all my members. But I will not apologize for defending myself against a personal attack on me, and on my guild."
Fraquar let out a frustrated sigh and opened his mouth to speak, only to be preemptively interrupted.
"You three are like a bunch of children in the middle of an argument over some trivial matter." Amelia said, looking up from her food. "As things are right now, all you're accomplishing is setting yourselves up for future meetings like this. I don't like what Angelo did either. In fact I hate it and I would do more then simply yell at him with I was guild master. Showing respect and trust is fine but you need to know when to put your foot down, I agree. However, Mama won't agree to anything you say right now because her pride is hurt. She won't listen to anything anyone says for several days at best. Come back then.
I, however, am willing to listen and want to do something to make amends even if Mama doesn't. So, what was this idea you mentioned earlier Master Jack? I'm curious."
Jack didn't respond to Jamie for the time being, deciding that she would figure out on her own that she wasn't the only one who had gotten hurt. Turning to Amelia, he smiles. "A small group get together to train and socialize between the three guilds. It was something I came across in my research into the old guilds from a hundred years ago and something I've tried to remember to suggest to Jamie before, but always got so tied up in other things I'd forget. With Rider's Blade being an up and coming guild, I thought it would be a good chance for us all to learn more about each other and form a stronger bond."
Jarvis sighed softly, "things like that have worked in the passed, yes, but they were also different times. Times were magic wasn't quite so feared. What do you suppose people will think if three guild start acting together?
They might suppose we are looking to gain power. We first have to show that magic, and a majority of those that use it, are not seeking power and control, or no matter what we do, nothing will help the way the world sees us."
Jack shook his head. "Now, I'm not saying you're wrong, but we also need to show that the guilds trust each other, especially since I know there are several people that saw Jamie's and I's spat this afternoon."
"Well, even if Mama is unwilling to volunteer anyone, I'll still attend these. I need to get out the guild and try to make more friends anyway." Amelia said.
"We should make a small group first. Why not two members of each guild. One male and one female. I would volunteer Pyrha and Delsin in this case." Fraquar said.
"Mama is going to point out she never agreed." Amelia said.
"And at this point, I frankly don't care, cause she's not going to agree to anything coming out of anyone's mouth but hers."
Jamie rose from the table in quite a calm manor despite not feeling calm. She pushed her chair in and walked away. It seemed better to do that then to completely lose it at the table. Knowing that only Amelia and Sam could follow her without a scene, she went to the female bathroom, licking herself into one of the stalls. The small dogs Fraquar was beginning to use would surely continue, and Jamie didn't know how much she could take. Sitting, she lowered her head into her hands, forcing her breathing to be even and rythmatic, focusing on that and only that. Perhaps the main reason for not wanting to come to dinner tonight was the simple fact Jamie knew she wouldn't be able to maintain composure
"that's quite enough Fraquar" Jarvis said softly, his tone indicating that he wouldn't put up with much more, "its not about trust, is it? It's about respect, something that hasn't happened much today. Jamie respected you more then enough to make sure you were one of the first to know her identity Jack, but you threw that back in her face with what you did today. And Fraquar, you have to give respect and trust to get it."
Jack maintained his composure, but he would not put up with being villianized in a situation that wasn't about who was right. "And where does shielding her stop Jarvis? She had the gall to insult me and my guild over my loss of temper. You both sit there and pretend that you are the victims and that no one else was insulted today? Tonight was about peace, about showing that I accept what I did was wrong. But instead, your wife insisted on twisting it so that nothing said made any kind of meaningful impact. And rather than showing that you acknowledged that all involved parties were hurt or wronged, you helped her. I understand that as her husband, it is your job to stand by her side, but this was not an attack, it was an attempt to get you to see that parties on all sides were wrong, including you." Jack shakes his head and leans back, sighing.
"I, once again, openly acknowledge that what I said this afternoon was wrong and crossed lines. But time and again, you and Jamie have proven that you would go beyond simple words to avenge a perceived wrong to your members. You would go for blood. I guess this isn't going to work, so I will pay the bill and we can go our separate ways and you can expect to see me some time tomorrow. But I want you to consider something. When one of your closest friends tells you something's wrong, perhaps you should reevaluate what you're doing. If you will, Master Fraquar." Standing, Jack left behind the jewel to pay for the meals and then some, along with a note apologizing for any uncomfort their group might have caused any of the other guests. He then lead Fraquar back out to the streets and away from the meal.
Fraquar stood up with Jack but shot one last look at Jarvis.
"I will not show children respect unless they deserve it Jarvis. Jamie is far from grown up. She may make adult descisions but when push comes to shove, she's nothing but a child. I suggest you help her grow up. QUICKLY." He said before leaving with Master Jack.
Amelia watched the other guild master's leave before sighing.
"You know, it wouldn't have hurt." She said before getting up. "I'll be back at the hotel. I would suggest you do something about Mama."
With that she left as well, disgusted by the way all the 'adults', if you could call them that, acted.
Jarvis stopped Fraquar and Jack leaving, stopping them at the door, keeping an eye on Sam as Amelia left.
"we know that we were partly in the wrong as well, Jack. The difference is, if it was the other way around, it would be the member we'd blame and not you. we can teach them and guild them, but ultimately they are their own person. We can't make them decide what's best-we can only teach them
And hope they learn. Something you haven't come to a conclusion yet is that just because they are mages, apart of the guilds, doesn't mean they are human. Doesn't mean that they cannot make mistakes even if we wish they wouldn't. We wouldn't blame you, Jack, if it was Angelo in a coma. We wouldn't even blame Jackie, really. We'd be disappointed. You have a lot to grow on as well, Jack.
You are insulted because of your own actions.l, and your own lack of understanding. You are hurt because of your own misconceptions, Jack. You're a good guild master, but you still have a lot to learn. As do we.
Do you think that Jamie could be reasonable, when you attacked how she has taught our members? We are not above killing Jack, but Jamie has killed no one, and I've only killed one person. We do not preach murder in our Guild, and that's what you pushed onto her.
The problem is here is you don't see why you hurt her. You insulted her, and out Guild, just like you are saying she did to you. Well Jack, you get as good as you give." Jarvis turned to Fraquar, "do not judge someone when you do not know what has happened to them. Jamie went through losing one of her powers, for Sam. She lost seven parts of herself, you cannot begin to know what that is like. She took a step, one she has been avoiding for 15 years, out of fear despite the monster who attacked us being dead, of detection, and revealed herself. On top of that, she was attacked, with Her children and Elyse, in the city. She has had to deal with three members being kidnapped, and any number of other things, and then she was verbally attacked by a man she considers nothing less then a brother. I think she is allowed a few hours at least of being a child, don't you? Perhaps stop being an arrogant fool, and think that perhaps not everyone can deal with what she has in the last 48 hours and be an adult"
Jarvis stepped aside, and approached Sam, nudging her towards the bathrooms and her mother, before going after Amelia, using one of his lacrima said to teleport to her location.
"it wouldn't have hurt, no. It's just not something that can be decided today after everything. Jamie will agree, but she won't tonight."
Fraquar sighed as Jarvis left, turning to MAster Jack.
"Do you think it would hurt them to, I don't know, ASK FOR HELP if they're having this much trouble with things not related to the Games?" He said, feeling incredibly frustrated by Jamie's damnable pride at this point.
"No she won't." Amelia said simply, stopping to look up at her adoptive father.
"she will. Because it's what is best for the guild, and Jamie will do it, if only for that" Jarvis replied
Sam glanced back, as her father left, before entering the bathroom and wriggling under the stall door to crawl into her mothers lap
"If you make peace with no intention of keeping it, you're simply delaying the inevitable. You need to want peace before you can have it. Unless Mama does things for the right reasons and actually listens when other offer their opinions and advice, no matter how hurtful, this will happen all over again." Amelia said before moving to walk away again.
Jack sighed as he walked, having continued past Jarvis even as the man had spoken. He had missed the point in what Jack had said, and as it stood, he'd put up with enough of his and his wife's "I'm right and you're wrong no matter what you prove" attitude for one evening. "Today's attack was...unexpected, especially by Jamie. They shut down the Council months ago and it was safe for everyone to assume no retribution would come of it from anyone but the new Council. I suppose we all should have known better."
"you have to be at peace to want peace, Amelia. And when someone you trust and care about hurts you, you aren't going to be at peace after a few hours.'when she calms down,'she will do what is right, she always does." Jarvis said
"Assuming it was the Council." Fraquar said before splitting from Jack with a wave, heading for his guild's hotel.
"I'll believe it when I see it." Amelia said before walking away, heading back to the hotel.
"You shouldn't have to see it, to believe in your family, Amelia" Jarvis said after her, his tone weary.
