It seems a little... forced, I guess? You use a shoehorn to get you foot into a shoe when you just need that little bit of help keeping the back of your shoe from folding forward with your heel.

So for something to be shoehorned in means leverage was applied to make it happen smoothly.

Well, it wouldn't be hard to find out that Trin was kidnapped, as, since Iron Enigma wants to play fair. They're telling Jamie (After having kidnapped Mithera and that being the only thing she said for about two hours until the guild master himself promised to tell Jamie)
