[OOC] Lifestream: Intertwined Souls (Urban Fantasy RP)

Plot
In an alternate reality as opposed to the original, there are a diverse set of people fated to make a Pact with a Spirit. This Pact will grant them control over abilities based on the Spirit's affinity (ex: if fire affinity, you get pyromancy. If sound affinity, you get enhanced hearing and manipulation of sound frequencies). The purpose of a Pact is to combine the forces of a Human and Spirit to combat threats to the balance of reality, which are Demons and the dead's negativity known as Shadow Replicas. If the Human Pact Bearers succeed in eliminating the threat or not, it is up to their fate to decide.

•NO godmodding. Meaning, don't give yourself a super overpowered pact affinity. (ie: Life/death, Time, existence, and anything else super broken is banned.)

Important Information

Setting

This will take place in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. For help on where to go during our roleplay, look at this map: totally not a TWEWY map

Realities

▶ Living World ◀
This reality is where all Livings (or humans as they call themselves) reside in, and it is basically our real world. It is a lower tier Reality, meaning that it is unable to fully interact with other Realities unless with the help of a Pact or something else equal to that power. Beings from other Realities can only interact with the Living World if they are Spirits or fully sentient Demons.

✵ Spiritual World ✵
This reality is where all Spirits of Deceased Livings reside in, and it usually is referred by the unaware Livings to be their "afterlife." A normal Spirit gradually loses their memories as a Living as they continue exist for a long period of time after their Living's death. An Elder Spirit, which is a Spirit sentient enough to make Pacts with Livings, has the choice to either lose their memories as soon as becoming an Elder Spirit, or to be left their memories from their past life as a Living. Once a pact is strong enough, a Living Pact Bearer is able to transverse into the Spiritual World. There are two versions of the Spiritual World: the first variation is layered over the Living World, where many Spirits that have "unfinished business" are stuck and if left there for too long, the chances of becoming a Demon is high. The second variation is it's own Reality that can observe the other Realities.

† Under World †
This reality is where all corpses of Deceased Livings and possibly Demons reside in. After a Deceased Living is properly laid to rest, it's corpse is replicated into the Under World. Due to the recent uprisings of the Demons, where they want to freely roam through different Realities like Spirits, the corpses are prone to become Shadow Replicas under the control of Demons.

Spiritual Pact

A Spiritual Pact is where a Living and an Elder Spirit intertwined their energies together, allowing the Elder Spirit to have unlimited access into the Living World and the Living the power of the Elder Spirit's affinity. Besides the affinity's power being granted to the Living, the Living is also later granted the power to enter the Spiritual World and possibly the Under World. When a Pact is formed, the Living of the pact is given a "Spirit Relic," which is the key to using their pact's power and the very thing that holds their soul. If it is to break, then the Living's soul is released and will cause he/she to instantly die. Fortunately, the Relic is shrouded with a cloaking aura that prevents Demons and Shadow Replicas from detecting the Spirit Relic of a Pact Bearer.

The Spirit that accompanies a Living Pact Bearer is only to be seen and heard by their Pact Bearer or other Pact Bearers, leaving the Spirit completely invisible and unnoticed by average Living society. Spirits are able to fuse with their Pact Bearer to assist their abilities, hear the thoughts of their linked Living Pact Bearer, phasing through solid objects in the Living World, and slightly influence the minds of other Livings nearest to him/her.

Demons

There are two types of Demons. The first type is the non-sentient Demon, where it has no humanity what-so-ever and for that, it has a more inhuman and animal-like appearance. the second type is the sentient Demon, having the exact resemblance of a real Living and can create Shadow Replicas, and as well as having some sort of secondary ability related to the mind. The sentient Demons shown in this roleplay are grouped together to be Death Keepers, the threat that the Pact Bearers must destroy.

-Personality-
Corentine doesn't seem to care about herself much or the others, only doing just because she has to or that it would get the job done. She usually just calls this Pact a "burden" that she has to put up with, but only admits that it's an interesting concept to get involved in. There are some trigger words that do tick her off for some reason, which is a rare thing since Corentine is the type to be quiet and only pay attention if she's forced or if she's really interested. To the closest people, this excludes her family, Corentine would then start to open up, but no one's a part of that group so she hasn't softened up for anybody at all.

-Short Bio-
The backstory will be revealed later on in the RP. A few months back, Corentine had lost her left eye for unknown reasons.

-Abilities-
With her Wind affinity, Corentine can use small bursts of wind to give her easier maneuvers and movement in a short period of time, or form little tornadoes under her control. In her transformed state, she gains more use out of her wind affinity such as being able to allow herself to be propelled up by strong wings, almost keen to flight but it doesn't last very long. Since Corentine applies her abilities in her combat, she rather uses it in a way that it's a mix between ranged and close combat, but strangely doesn't like to use spells.

In her transformed state, she receives a sword (named "Procella") with indecipherable runes engraved into it. She can use it to generate winds with it much easier than just manifesting them with her focus.

Being a Spirit with all of her Living memories, Monsone decided to ditch her real name and went along with a name that fit the affinity she was existing around. She seems to be rather regretful and not as bright, due to see many of her past Pacts end in death, and at this point, she seems to have no faith in her current Pact Bearer and has a habit of saying "sorry" as a persona mantra.

Monsone, despite having the ability of manipulate winds, doesn't seem to have much control over it as she had given most of that power to Corentine, her current Pact Bearer, but she can temporarily enter Corentine's body to allow the girl a bit more power to help.

-Personality-
The Shadowlord does not interact much with others, even with the other Death Keepers, but there are a few traits that are probably the only things notable about the Shadowlord. Many of the Death Keepers can notice that the Shadowlord does not tolerate failure, and same goes with not tolerating anyone not following his/her orders. Despite the fact that the Shadowlord is the self-proclaimed leader of the Death Keepers and possibly the very first Demon to reside the Under World, he/she is not arrogant or boastful of the power that he/she holds, and is rather respectful to those that he/she considers a "challenge." It is also notable that the Shadowlord is like the puppeteer of the other Death Keepers, mostly staying within the Under World and laying out orders for them to follow, and does not take action upon his/her hands, unless necessary. Unlike how the relationship between Demons and Spirits are under tension, the Shadowlord does not show hatred or disgust towards the Spirits and Living Pact Bearers, but that doesn't mean that the Shadowlord is completely on good terms with them.

-Short Bio-
In the legends revolving on the beginning of time, it is stated that the 'Shadowlord' is Original Shadow Replica, meaning the first Living to die in existence. How he/she died is unknown, but it is believed that the death was too soon for the Living Shadowlord, and thus made the conscious sentient and to become a Demon instead of a Spirit. The existence of the 'Shadowlord' is also believed to be the source of all Shadow Replicas, or what keeps all of the Shadow Replicas from Livings' corpses in control and stabilized.

-Abilities-
• Shadow Replica source: The Shadowlord is widely believed by Spirits and Living Pact Bearers that he/she is the source of all the power that the Shadow Replicas come from, or make Shadow Replicas possible to form. Due to this, the Shadowlord does not seem to be able to make himself/herself a more "human" appearance like the other Death Keepers, and prompts one of the reasons why the Shadowlord does not make any appearances in the Living World.
• Fear Manipulation: The Shadowlord's "secondary ability" is to be able to manipulate fears. This is not known how this is used due to the lack of appearances to the Living World, but this ability is what helped the Shadowlord retain the position as "Rank I."

There is no known physical weapons that the Shadowlord uses, but it could be said that created Shadow Replicas could be his/her weapons.

Sounds really interesting and I wanna join, but a couple of questions.

Do the spirits have an identity, or are they just something thats there. What I mean is do we RP them, or are they just a part of us?

Also, if someone wants to RP a demon, wouldn't it be a tad boring having to just stay in the underground? or would they be able to roam living world if they took over a corpse, or am i just being stupid hehe?

@LowKey123: Alright, and just to fit with my character's design (I'm actually drawing the design myself), I've changed my affinity to wind this time. xD

@SaekoGami: I did kinda rush the descriptions on the intro, but I can elaborate on that.

For Spirits, they're literally another character, so you can RP them. If your Spirit companion is memory wiped (doesn't remember past life), they basically don't show much emotion, personality, and just stick by the rules and the purpose they exist by. But, if your Spirit companion can remember their past life as a Living fully, they're much more diverse that other Spirits. So, if you want to fully RP a Spirit, I suggest the non-memory wiped type, but if you don't want to RP a spirit, then the memory wiped one is there too.

For Demons, I didn't really explain what they're for. The Demon characters we play as are fully sentient, meaning they act just like living people and not some animal or creature-like thing, and have the ability to enter the Living World and blend in with the populace there. All Demons are able to create and manipulate Shadow Replicas out of people's corpses, basing the dark power off of the deceased's negative feelings.

Oh, and if you're going to be a Spirit, then you would need a Pact Bearer character too.
