General Information
Personality: A slightly geekish girl by nature, she was rather shy and meek in school, a seemingly quiet girl by nature, however, at the festival her sense of self flourished, and she became bold, confident, and empowered. At the festival she was energetic and outgoing, extroverted and constantly looking for her next adventure. Since joining the hunters she has become a cool level head, she is calm and confident, and worshipful of Artemis, whom she sees as rather perfect and infallible. Becca still has the quiet of her school self, as well as the outgoing energy of the girl who went to the festival, but while the two sides of her have blended, she also carries a quiet sorrow.
Likes: She loves all things about faire, from archery to sword an knife play, to apothecary and medicine work, to horseback riding and minstrel and jester playing. She also likes the dark, while some kids fear it and what it hides, she has always thrived in it.
Dislikes: Jocks, chauvinists, arrogant people, and monsters. She really dislikes monsters.
Talents: She is phenomenal with a bow and arrow, as well as tracking and hunting in spite of the fact that neither her mother nor her great-grandmother passed the skill on to her. From her mother she inherited the ability to summon, manipulate, and control spirits, destroy the connection between undead souls and earthly bodies, turn her form ethereal, and cast an illusory form of the dead over herself, as well as to shadow travel. From her great-grandmother she inherited a knack for plants and medicine, and while she can manipulate the mist, she has yet to put any effort into formal training, and so her skills are unrefined. Lacking the strength to use a full sword she learned how to use a fencing rapier or a small dagger. She can also ride horse back and hunt.
Biography: Becca grew up living a double life. At school she was the shy, meek, and forgettable Rebecca Silvers, friendless and bookish, not a teachers pet, but not a troublemaker. In fact the only notice of ADHD was the inability to keep her legs from shaking up and down nonstop, and the school would never have noticed or addressed her dyslexia, had it not been for the fact that her father noticed it and helped her with it.
However, over the summer and during the winter, while at the festival, Becca was fierce. Even as a little one, she was running around and splashing in the mud. She learned everything she could from anyone who would teach her. She learned to play music, sing, and tell stories and jokes from the minstrels and jesters, sword play, horseback riding, and lance work from the knights (despite their avid protest that such things were not proper for a young lady), apothecary work, which she loved, from her father, and possibly most importantly, she learned the art of archery from a young boy named Thomas. Through the years she and Thomas went on many adventures together, hunting imaginary monsters and going on pretend quests. That was, until she was eleven years old.
The summer had started out like any other, her father driving them and their festival equipment up towards the campsite so they could help with the set up of the festival grounds, a ritual that would help Rebecca shed her school time reserve and find her inner adventurer. When they arrived though something was off about the grounds.
As they pulled in a mysterious woman approached her father’s car, and when Becca, just beginning to feel the wonderful confidence that being at festival gave her, rolled down the window, the man simply placed a note in her lap. When she commented on the strangeness of the event her father looked at her quizzically. ‘What woman?’ She asked her, and then, ‘Where did you get that thing?’ pointing towards the leathery worn parchment. But then the strange occurrences had only just begun.
At first she thought it had to be her mind playing a trick on her, or her imagination gone absolutely wild. Because monsters do not really exist, and for all the festival excitement, they never had real monsters, sure maybe someone made a transformation or two with makeup, but you could always kind of tell that it was fake. A certain level of suspension of disbelief was necessary.
And yet, without a doubt, standing there in front of the car was a giant, monstrous creature, with the body of a lion, the tail of a scorpion, and an eerily human face. Her dad pulled up and into a parking spot, ignoring the monster outside the window completely. Becca pleaded with her father to not get out of the car, to stay in the safety of the metal box, but he wouldn’t listen to her, thinking she was just making up a pretend game, the mist clouding his mind. When her father stepped out of the car Becca rushed out, but was too late to stop the inevitable.
In a rage, Becca charged the beast, but it knocked her down almost casually, and with eyes closed she was ready to meet a similar end to her father. She heard the whistling sound of the beast’s tail splitting the air as it went to hit her, and then a strange wet thump and a yelp. Two more wet thumps, and with a mixture of confusion and surprise she opened her eyes to see the manticore standing over her, three silver arrows protruding from its chest, and then suddenly it faded away into dust. Artemis and her Hunters had slain the beast, saving Becca.
When Artemis offered to take the girl with her, Becca, still in shock at the loss of her father, and in awe of this new world with real monsters and magic and gods, agreed to become a Hunter without a second thought. For the last three years she has traveled with Artemis and the other Hunters, honing many of her previous skills, as well as the new talents afforded her by her mother and grandmother.
Weapon Information
Weapon Name: Moonlit Streak and Shadow Biter
Weapon Type: Bow and Dagger
Weapon Appearance:
Attributes: The bow creates its own arrows upon drawing the string back, however the effect only appears to work for those who are a member of Artemis’s hunters. In addition arrows launched from the bow always seem to find their target, though whether that is the bow itself or the girl who is wielding it is up for discussion. The knife was a gift from her mother, and is made of stygian iron, capable of killing all kinds of creatures.
