True, but nevertheless.
In order to keep a good balance between anime-style physics and realism, larger weapons will be more awkward to handle. Please understand that Kyo's sword is a massive exception to what I intended to allow in this RP and I'm making concessions for his ability to wield it effectively. Other characters will have trouble with larger weapons, but nevertheless they will be functional depending on how they are used.
It's not ideal, but the alternative is going full anime and that will include a fucking panty raid.
Oh, I am perfectly aware that my character is going to be an oddball.
In many ways that's how he was conceived. For practical, rule of cool, comical and of course even dramatical purposes. Kyo actually had many issues because of his physical strength. Many people also fear him for this.
Imagine eating with a guy who is known to murder imperial soldiers with a fork just like the one he's feeding with.
Not the best appetizer, I can tell you.
As for weapons for others. I agree that we shouldn't blindly go with the idea of higher tier gun = better.
Even discounting the weight a large water-cooled "SMG" would be difficult to use in tight spaces and may also take more time to aim.
Albeit the long gun can help you with leading your shots and of course it increases range, accuracy and power of the bullet. I mean they had to design them that way with reason.
Another interesting idea is that VC2 guns use drum magazines. What if the water cooled SMGs have drum magazines and indeed would function a bit like LMGs?
T-MAGs are also more like AK-47s on steroids. Should we retool them as assault rifles in the RP? In-game and by lore they are apparently rapid-firing weapons with added magazine capacity, though.

I mean on a realistic level. I can see how it works in a game, I've played a couple games that are similar, but not the realistic applications.
How could we talk about realism when while mentioning a guy surviving tank fire?
On the other hand I gave you a reasonable explanation by the series' logic.
Guys who can destroy tanks with plain muscle can also survive explosive tank shells by their plain flesh... to some degree, at least.
There's also the Ragnite which can be also used to create powerful armors or weapon edges.
If you are ever in doubt, rely on the pseudo-scientific omnipotent qualities of Ragnite.
Seriously, that thing can be used for nearly anything.
Power source, poison, healing agent, explosive, non-exploding super-tough material and even more.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ragnite covers a diverse group of materials which are just happen to look similar and mined from the same source.
As for why you have tanks with superhuman soldiers like these around?
1.) Rule of cool doesn't follow reasonable logic. You are thinking too much.
2.) Anti-tank melee dudes are obviously the elite, even their class name tell you so. Highly skilled manpower actually worths more than any vehicle. So tanks are better than rarely occurring super tough soldiers.
3.) BTW, yeah, in many fictional settings being skilled fighter makes you increasingly more superhuman. Don't ask how. Maybe they live in a world where RPG like character progression is real.
4.) As the GM said, we sure won't get any of the more insane character classes. They could be fun but the aim is for a more serious atmosphere, I bet.
