@CirusArvennicusWe leave to battle in 13:30, I don't think we have time for a side quest to retrieve a lance.
Also chances are high that the Lance was already taken by the imperials as a valuable asset and sits in one of their warehouses nearby.
Attacking an imperial base with a single squad goes beyond suicidal.
You may wish to change this IMO.
Or wait for Lennon but I think the general response would be similar.

The shot was fired an hour down the road from the base in an APC going a good 45mph, far enough away from the base to be considered part of the battlefield between Randgriz and Vasel. Squad 11 could have been part of the outer patrols of the base, but nevertheless were sufficiently far from Breda to be a viable target for Imperial attack. To clarify, the road north leads through wooded areas with no urban development and only a few hamlets dotted around; perfect ground to ambush a patrol.

As for retrieving the lance, standard operating procedure for locating an ambush survivor would include securing the immediate area and radioing for reinforcements to secure the ambush site. In the circumstances, reinforcements are unlikely since the regiment is still organising for the march north, so the squad has two options; accepted the loss of the lance and leave the fate (and dogtags) of their comrades unknown, or proceed to secure the area with the resources on hand. Harald is more likely to choose the latter, especially since they have about a week to secure the avenue to Vasel; they're in no real rush to hit Le Haye Sainte.

If the majority of players wish to go hunting, then a'hunting we shall go.

Having a sudden on the fly mission redirect is the kind of thing I had planned for this mission, so I'm quite pleased to see a chance appear so naturally. However, I would like to see more posts from more people before anything else happens. While I appreciate that not everyone has much to do in this situation, no major actions will take place unless everyone is on the same page.

I thought we are past the 1 week limit and we are now in a hurry. Oh well, I don't mind this distraction if we actually have time for that.
And you can bet Kyo would very much support this (in IC).
Albeit I don't exactly like our odds.
Oh well, we'll see what's going to happen.

Someone's going to need to carry the lance, by the way. I don't expect a scout to readily be able to heft that.

And swords are stealthy, yo.

Well to be fair, lifting something and being able to aim it are two different things. For example, I can lift a 50lb barbell but if I duct taped it to a C7, I doubt I could fire it accurately. A pair of scouts could probably do the gun run and get it back fast, they'd just be SOL if more imps found them.

EDIT: Lilly probably would be hard pressed to drag one of those back, though. She is fleet of foot, but not exactly strong.

We also need to take into account the fact that James, at the very least, is in pretty amazing physical shape for his age having been in the Gallian Army. I can't speak for the rest, though I imagine Kyo is in comparatively good shape, but he's also not a Scout XD Anyways, the only real issue is that sure he can carry it, or another scout, he can aim and fire it, but that kick is going to do him in and his aim is likely to be completely off because of it. Essentially, it comes down to anyone can fire the weapon, but only those trained in it are going to have any semblance of accuracy.

Y'know what else? Disarming and tying up a lone survivor is excessively cruel. :<

Amazing physical shape does not equate strength. Regan can keep up with scouts without her lance. She was keeping ahead of those imperial scouts most of the way.

She also has a silent weapon that, I would say, outclasses a bayonette. Doesn't protect her from getting shot, no, but... mmn.

Ah, but Lancers are realistically probably more heavily armored.

I suppose. She's also had physical training since before her military service, though it didn't include mobility in armor.

She'd probably make a good shocktrooper, actually, but it's a little late for that.

I'm around, here and there. This ridiculous heatwave has been making it hard to post though, which is my excuse for inactivity.

This is why, despite my love of travelling, I could never visit somewhere like India or South America. I'm too accustomed to our usual cold and damp weather... /cries

I could live with South Africa. I could live with Northern Alaska. Just don't put me on the other side of the Arctic or Antarctic Circles.
