"Hey" Connor replied to Kyra, "Feeling better?" He asked Austin, then looked up and smiled when Kijani joined them. He too glanced at the tv. Thanatos. He frowned. Where had he heard that before? Well, there was Thanatos, the Greek Daemon from mythology, the image of death he thought, but didn't think that was it. He racked his memory, but couldn't quite come up with it. He was sure he had heard it hear somewhere. From one of the other students? He would have to consult his note book on that, he thought. If it was indeed an alias, and one of his classmates, he would have written it down. He started to eat the slice of pizza he had grabbed, chewing thoughtfully.

An Apt name in any case, he thought.

Kalinda gave a shrug and a sigh, "Because I don't want to have to feel their last emotions as they die" She said simply. "I imagine those would be powerful emotions, and would over come any blocks I put up against them. So, basically, if you go to hunt down someone, you'll kill them? Finish what you start?"

Phoebe finished her yoghurt as she waited for Ryan to reply.

He rubbed his face then said," well, you know that it has to happen at some point, someone would go off the rails." He leaned back, looking at Kijani as she walked up and he said," hey."

Mimicking Kalinda, Ben shrugs as he replies, "You haven't had a successful hunt unless your prey is dead." He opens the door to the cafeteria for her and asks, "What do you usually eat here?"

Kalinda frowned, but decided not to pursue the subject. "I usually get a salad and a yoghurt" She said, "And maybe an apple or banana or something" She looked about, noting how crowded it was.

Connor nodded, finishing his slice of pizza, "It sounds familiar though" he said with a frown, then shook his head, "Oh, well"

Ryan looked at Anthony. What had he learned? He was faster but that was small compared to everyone else. "Uhh I have been able to use the Speed Force a bit better. The thing that makews we Flashes so fast. I think I am smarter. Maybe? He said looking confused. "Why do you ask?" He said still thinking about what Anthony had told him earlier in the year about being in the shadows of his family.

Jack dropped his sandwich as he saw the news. They were talking about Ben. His brother was on the news. looks like he was not as sneaky as he thought. Jack saw Ben enter and decided not to make a scene. Even though he wanted to throw his hands up, run around, and scream. He figured Ben would have some excuse or a 'It's okay little bro, that I want to eat people. I am totally fine!'

Floods eyes flicked over to the TV and he narrowed his eyes. "I need to talk to someone. I'll see you later Zack." He said as he walked away from the table and reached into his backpack. He pulled out some notes and sighed. "Solving the Thanatos case is going to be a lot tougher now that the public's eyes is on it. The killer will be turtling up soon, now that eyes are on him." Flood stated to himself as he walked near Ben. "Ben, just the guy I was looking for can I talk to you?" He asked as he stopped near him.

Jack walked over to Ben and the guy. He had no idea who he was. Never met him but the way he was walking made Jack worried. He smiled the trademarked Parker grin and turned on the charm. "Hey Ben! Weren't we gonna have lunch today?" He asked knowing he had never said that to his brother. He then pretended to ntoice the guy. "Oh sorry didn't see you. One track mind. Jack Parker. Ben's 10 minute younger brother." He joked offering the guy his hand to shake. "You guys hear about that Thanatos figure? Must be one crazy guy. The person might go for one of us next. You never know." He mused to the group trying to juggle their attention.

Ben frowns as Flood appears suddenly and asks to speak with him. "Um, do I know you?" Ben asks the peculiar student just as Jack arrives. When Jack mentions Thanatos, Ben glares at him for a fraction of a second before shrugging nonchalantly. "Eh, who knows. Might turn out to just be some punk that's hopped up on PCP. Besides, I'm sure no one's stupid enough to attack a building with hundreds of superpowered students and a staff made up of some of the most powerful beings on Earth." He turns to Kalinda and says, "I'm not sure if you've met him, but this is Jack, my little brother." He glances at Flood as he continues, "I don't have any clue who the other guy is, though."

Anthony briefly looks up from his lunch and replies, "I like to keep track of my contemporaries' progress. It's interesting to see whether or not they meet my expectations."

"And do we?" Phoebe asked keeping her tone calm. What did it matter if they were worthy of his high expectations or not? She leaned back in her seat, frowning "I can never tell your motives"

"I've met him before" Kalinda said and offered Jack a smile "what's this about Thanatos? Has something been happening?"

That was promising. If that guy had no idea who Ben was maybe it was a shocking coincidence that he had walked up to Ben claiming to know him. Okay he could work with this. he did notice Ben's glare. Again being together for as long as they had would usually lead to knowing the other person. He had not seen the news... He thought Jack was being an ass or trying to expose him... Shoot. He nodded and looked at Kalinda. "10 mintutes younger... " He said joking with her. It took skill to hide like this. Hide the fear his brother might get caught for one thing. "Oh yah we met before. Hope my brother hasn't tried anything." He said glancing behind him. "Well I heard on the news that there is this killer loose. Goes by the name of Thantos or death in Greek. I think Thantos was the god of death. I think Ben's right about it though. Just some crazy."

"Oh okay. Well I think I've gotten stronger recently." He shrugged and looked at Phoebe. Again he felt like Anthony knew more than he was saying. Though what did he know? He was just a speedster. He watched Phoebe and Anthony talk.

Anthony lets out a soft chuckle as he answers, "Oh, you shouldn't worry about whether or not you're progressing at the rate I thought you would." Then, with one eyebrow raised, he asks, "Why do you think that I always have a hidden motive?"

Ben looks Jack in the eye as he asks, "What exactly did the news say? Did they say who he was going after?"

"Try anything? He didn't ask for my number, and then in a Corny cute way until yesterday" Kalinda shrugged. She had her emotional blocks up, so she didn't catch any of what Jack was feeling. "Some it's running around killing people, how is that any different anywhere else?"

"Because you ask so many questions and yet don't answer those directed at you" Phoebe said

Jack thought for a second. "Well the reporter said something about a spree of kills in New York City. All bearing the name of Thantos somewhere. The reporter wondered if the killer came from here which I think is insane honestly. They just want to blame some easy target for the kills." Jack said shrugging. While on the inside he was still scared. What if Ben was caught? What would that do to the school? He kept his Parker smile going though. "You clearly aren't from around here. Dad tught me there are few things people love in the news and fresh blood on the wall is one of them. That and add the possibilities of supers and you have a perfect story. Bet the Bugle is gonna go wild for this story." He said to himself.

"Well that's because translating my thoughts into something you cretins can understand is quite tiresome," Anthony thinks before saying with a smile, "Like I said, I'm just a very curious man. I enjoy my privacy immensely, but I'll answer one question from each of you, if you'd like."

"The only reason they're probably making a fuss about it is because NYC is so close to the Academy. You know how the normals view us. As far as they're concerned, if you're not a famous hero, you're a freak." Ben says.

Jack shrugged and turned to leave. "Ain't that the truth. Hey bro lets talk later. I forgot I had a training session with Bane today. Can't be late for it. No matter what is going on. " He said looking behind him. "Nice to see you again Kalinda. Watch out for my brother!" He yelled as he ran out the door. Might as well try to appear normal. He made it to the training area and desperately needed to burn off his anger. Well too bad he wasn't there. Oh yah that meeting... Jack shrugged and walked off.

Ryan kept just listening to he two. He was much too tired to argue. Running as fast as he did took energy like crazy.

Phoebe sighed, and said, "You don't think very highly of any of us, do you? You think because you have money, and intelligence that others don't. News flash, Anthony, there are others just as smart as you around"

She was weary of having to try and be nice to him, "You stop and think before you say anything, and you calculate before you do a single thing. I've tried to be nice to you, tried to for Sue's sake, but its impossible when you always seem to analyse everything to see how you can use it, if you can use it" She stated this all as a fact, and didn't expect anything in return.

"Then what are we? We aren't famous or anything, just the kids of famous or infamous people trying to become 'famous'. Bah, you needs fame?" Kalinda said with a shrug and said goodbye to jack when he left

Anthony bursts into laughter and wipes a tear away from the corner of his eye when Phoebe mentions that there are people who are just as smart as him. He stands and, still chuckling slightly, says, "That's adorable. Thank you for allowing me to join you for lunch, I've had a delightful time. However, I sense some some hostility emanating from you, so I think I'll take my leave. Good day."

(Oh, he's such an ass and I love it.)

As Ben stands in line to get a platter of boiled crawfish, he says, "Having fame has its benefits, but so does being unknown. There are pros and cons for both, which is why I think so many people like us choose to have a secret identity."

Nacelle watched everyone in the lunchroom as her head started to clear. She got up from the table and started to walk out of the room heading up to her dorm and starting to clean. She would have ro this daily to get into it.

"Oh, you think you're such a hard ass, don't you?" Phoebe called after him, "You'll be your own downfall, Anthony Luther! You're just too arrogant to see that!" She put her yoghurt container down, her mood soured and glared down at the table.

Kalinda shrugged, "Having a secret identity allows you to live without people coming to you every day and saying 'please help me!'." She disppeared into the shadows for a moment, only to reappear with a Salad and apple.
