[IC] Xmen: Mutant Registration is Avenged

David was watching the news. A newscaster showed a poll of how many people supported and were against the Registration act. 65% showed they supported it and 35% showed they didnt support it. David anger grew and the metal paperweight began to dent. He said "We save them and they still hate us." He stood up and sighed "No matter what were still looked at like freaks..and now they are making this stupid law. A man man with a suit that can fight a whole army and even one of our own is supporting this law."

Jean sighed and looked at her brother. Well he wasnt her brother but she considered him one. She knew him almost all her life. "It cant be helped sometimes David.." She walked over to him and said "People can change...it takes time though." She picked up the dented paperweight. "Heidi sees that most mutants have more power then a simple pistol."

Anthony looked at the camera and said 'I understand many mutants dont like this registration act but honestly resisting this law is pointless. A few years ago a mutant by the name Scarlet Witch changed reality. Some can control weather, and do sonic screams. We need to make sure they have a safe environment in which they can learn to control themselves."

Heidi Williams, current Avenger and spokesperson for the Registration Act, appears on the news report. She's very smartly dressed for this occasion. A far cry from the Heidi that David and Jean remember from their school days, who was shy and wore baggy black sweaters a lot. She spoke;

"We have heard many registration arguments from non-mutants, and I agree that we are dangerous. But we don't want to be dangerous. Most mutants out there do not want to hurt you. Sadly, many mutants out there don't have the choice. They don't have enough control. They don't know how to use their powers properly. These mutants should be taught and schooled in a supportive environment. Simply being a mutant does not make you a criminal.

However...Many mutants are insisting they have a right to stay anonymous. Outright refusing to register."

Heidi pulls a newspaper from her stand and shows it to the camera.

"Nine year old Alec is a mutant who sucked the air out of his house, killing his whole family. He is undergoing major trauma therapy but we think he will be depressed for life. Ladies and gentleman, the right to anonymity is a right Mutants can no longer afford."

There is an overwhelmingly positive response to Heidi's speech as she walks off camera. As she leaves the building, the scene is quite the opposite. Many Anti-Registration mutants are outside, yelling at her and holding up signs saying 'Prodigy is a traitor' and other charming slogans. This was her least favorite part of the day. She was simply trying to do what she thought was right, and what she thought was right by them, but she was constantly treated like the villain by her own kind...

With a quiet pace down the sidewalk, Skylar walked pass people with her phone in her hands and her backpack strapped to her back. To others, she would seem like an average girl walking home from school, but this appearance people saw was a ruse. Surely Skylar Madison wasn't that average, so normal to blend in, but this is all done on purpose. To herself, she is a mutant, someone different. She had been hearing a lot of talk of the Registration Act from many people all around, her inner self disgusted by it. Skylar knew that she would be "busy" tonight, that it was something she saw fit, but needed to prepare. Silently, she slipped into a gas station, it had been awhile since she's eaten due to being on her own.

Ira sipped her coffee as she listened to the ridiculousness on her smartphone. It was so pathetic it was almost funny. A homo sapien government trying to control a homo superior population. in doing so treating the latter as if the only thing that entitles them to their civil rights is a signature. they act as though they forgot that first mutant registration act and how that went... or the more tactful super hero registration act and the borderline civil war that that started. "history america... you can learn from it" she mumbled to herself as she looked at the 65/35 ratio of support. "that 35 probably represent mutants both good and bad" put her mug down.

Ira always had a unique view of politics. alls it would take was one telepath to make all this go away but even among the bad guys no one ever got the urge to do go to capital hill and telepathically force the president to vito the bill. clearly she opposed the bill but wasnt "allowed" to do anything about it....yet. with that she turned off her phone and went to find Jean.

Jean heard a telepathic call. She closed her eyes allowed the telepath to find her. It was Ira. She smiled "Ira wants to find us." She pulled David's arm. Jean knew David liked Ira. "We can see her. Pleease..." She said pouting, She thought to Ira. Where are you?
David sighed and said "Fine..." Maybe he got out he can get his mind off things. He put on his coat and grabbed his Iphone, and wallet. He opened the walet seeing a picture of his siblings, and his father. He remembered his father once said "I know them. I seen and faced the horrors they have. They will kill anything that isnt right for their society. y sons its them...or us.." He whispered "them..or us." Jean aksed "Huh?"
"Oh nothing Jean.":

Anthony walked beside Heidi. "Surprised no one shot a fireball or tried to kill us yet.." He smiled but heard a loud crash. He turned seeing a teen who looked normal lift a car. "Were not freaks! you cant do this."
Anthony cursed and pressed his bracelet. His suit would come in a minute or two

Heidi doesn't look amused by Anthony's comment. She looks sad, and disheartened, she can't even look at the crowd. "Every day. Every damn day. This is what we get for trying to keep the streets safe for non-mutants and mutants alike. This is what I get for trying to help Mutants fit in a modern society..." She gets cut off when teen lifts the car.

She calmly turns to the mutant. God dammit. It was people like these that ruined every word she said. Went against everything she believed in. Being a mutant didn't even factor into it. He was about to do something that could hurt people. He was a criminal. There was no grey are with this individual. He was a criminal the moment he lifted that car.

"You're not a freak, but you really aren't helping us look less dangerous! Put that car down right now!"

She stood ready to move in and take him down. She may not have super speed or strength but she was a quick thinker. She had very efficient reaction times, as well as having gone through a lot of physical training. She could get to him without getting hit by the car for sure.

"Put it down or you're going to jail!"

'' im at the school still." she responded to Jean "we still have class and i imagine the students arent going to like the news at all" infact she expected a class divided. most of the mutants at the school had some real bad experiences being a mutant. they would be outraged by the act. but some others might not be so opposed to it. it could be seen asa away to stop the pain. a way to come out, so to speak, and to be allowed to conform to the majority....like all teen agers tend to want...

Jean nods and walked with David to Ira's class. A picture of the original Xmen and Charles Xavier. Her dad . She smiled and heard the bell ring. David waited but saw the news a mutant was attack the registration meeting.

He glared down at Prodigy. "I don't care. They don't accept us! Your power is pathetic you will never no what it's like to have power."
Anthony came over to them. "Look buddy calm down. We don't want a fight. Look do the right thing and put down the car."
The mutant glared and shook a bit. He didn't know what to do. " I'm going to jail anyway ..might as well as accomplish something." He threw the car at Anthony

She immediately pulls Anthony out the way, then looks behind her to see where the car will land. It will land in the cleared are and hit the fence. Good. It won't hurt anyone. Sure enough, it behaves exactly how she predicted it would, and nobody is hurt. She lets go of Anthony, and turns to the camera.

"Every mutant out there who fights to be accepted gets undermined by dangerous people like this who believe that the rules don't apply to them and give the rest of us a bad name. It's sad, really."

She turns back to the aggressor, and makes a beeline right for him, slipping through the crowd like they're air. She reaches out to try and grab him.

Things were getting out of hand and SHIELD was starting to step in, Zandrea steeped out of the mobile command base that was set up for her to track the online feeds and watch for cyber attacks, she watched as SHIELD agents or as she called them "stormtroopers" helped keep the peace, Zan looked at Heidi then the mutant holding the car then to Anthony "you always take me to the nicest places stark" she teased they only meet a few times before today the first being the time she almost hacked the ironman suit during a SHIELD meeting Anthony was apart of.

She looked at to the car wielding mutant as agents circled "please listen to the shell head....and Anthony here....there is a big difference between a jail cell and the big house I know" even though she was only 19 she was a quick rising star in shield and the agents around them waited on her call if needed

Anthony rolled his eyes "both feel the same when I have SHIELD visiting." The mutant was surrounded. He glared synthesis agents but knew there was no way out of this. He held his hand up but glared at Heidi. "You act all high and mighty but they will turn on you."

Ira smiled at jean but the bell required her to start her class before she got the chance to speak. it didnt take her telepathy to notice that the class was already on edge. since the school was a public safe haven for mutants some didnt feel quite safe. which honestly was a fair feeling.

"As most of you seem to be aware the government is making a law that says we "should" register our names. but this isnt a politics class, this isnt a history class so i wont speak much of the issue. but i would like to remind each and every one of you" Ira motioned for Jean to come and join her at the front of the room "the reason this school was opened many years ago by Professor charles Xavier was to teach gifted children like yourselves, like us that we are not cursed. year after year we kept our doors open to anyone one the quest of self discovery. and over the years some have chosen become heroes, some have chosen to become villians. each one of you, each one of us will have to make a choice. this school will not make that choice for you. we will guide you and hope for you and even pray for you but the choice was and always will be yours."

a girl in the third row raises her hand "but ms Psi what if we make the wrong choice?"

ira smiled "I'm glad you asked. if you stand by your choice it will never be the wrong choice. others may not agree, some may try to stop you, good or other. but if its what you believe in you fight for it. now then. squad up. groups of four. 3 on 1's. no powers "

Ira hasnt forgotton about Jean "anything you would like to say to the class?"

Jean smiled at the class " a very close friend of mine and Psi is also a teacher." She called for David. "This is David Lehnsherr. His father was the mutant magneto. His father taught him his beliefs but when his father passed he chose the right path. Another thing I have to say is that we can have power to read a hundred minds, lift cities, create fake weapons , control weather or grow claws but we can show people we can use them The right way. We can show were the better person by not fighting ."
A boy raised his hand. Jean said. " yes ?"
"Umm Mr. Lehnsherr what was your father like ? Why did he do what he did ?"
David said "I don't think he wants to be remembered for a villain but as a leader, revolutionist and father. He was a very kind man sometimes. I believe he did what he did because he experienced WW2, he saw how he believed humans are. I guess he believed that humans won't accept what they believe isn't the norm."

Ira nodded. she had all the respect in the world for Magneto as well as Prof X. two men with indomitable wills. opposite sides of the same goal always butting heads but never forgetting where they came from. "there are going to be times when you are confronted because you are a mutant. Like my friend here said you dont have to fight them. the first course of action should be resolution...but thats not usually possible. so today is self defense with multiple unarmed attackers. again no powers. whats the rule?"

"we play fair even if they dont." one student answered. he was correct even though Ira didnt personally agree with the idea.... school rules

"how much damage?" Ira asked

"none" they all answered

"begin!" out of each group a child backed away while the rest closed in. it was a common drill so Ira wasnt too concerned but she kept an eye out for cheaters

"so Jean" she spoke telepathically "what are we really goin to do about this MRA (mutant registration act)?"

"We'll see. Take him!""

The synthesis agents closed in and she turned away. She wasn't that worried about SHIELD turning on her. There were a few non-mutants who didn't like her because she was a mutant, but there were a LOT of mutants who didn't like her because she was an Avenger. Besides, SHIELD are good people, with keeping the earth safe priority number one. SHIELD don't think mutants are freaks.

Zandrea watched from a safe distance and shook her head thoughts of someone who used to know came back to her and she closed her eyes walking away towards stark and prodigy.

"so...that was fun, the whole place is on the tipping point of riots and now this, i had to hack some of the feeds, so this doesnt look like we are throwing our weight around and locking up mutants....context is a wonderful thing online"

Zan was most likely one of the oddest "normal" SHIELD agents back talking even her highest superiors, and that did not make her popular in some circles, but her skills as a hacker and her personality made a fan out of the director as long as its not him shes mouthing off to

"Stark...Prodigy good to see you guys not setting the fire and walking away" she crossed her arms and looked to the crowd of people and the signs "this does not feel right to me still...no matter how much PR i help run and hackers i stop to help the MRA, i still feel dirty for doing it.." depending on how much clearance you had it was pretty known that Zandrea was a thorn in someones side, when she went by the name Kode and hacked SHIELD,AIM,and Stark industry's at one point before being recruited to SHIELD

The visor went up and Anthony's face was out. "Well I'm going out for some Italian before 'someone' hacks my suit or my computers." He looked at Zandrea. He liked her bhut also enjoyed messing with her more . He then asked Heidi "You ok kid? Want some Italian?"

Jean sighed and said "Fight it. We need to show them that our school can help mutants. I can goto Congress to argue against it. I can use previous registration acts. But they may not like a telepath." She remembered showing her power once. Jean said "I'm worried they may attack us... "
"Then we attack back." David said. Jean looked at him "That will make is seem worse. All of us have great powers. I understand they are trying to protect the people and mutants but they are going at it the wrong way."
David sighed and said "If we do anything we will be considered freaks."

Prodigy puts her hand on Kode's shoulder, and gives her a little smile, then turns to Anthony.

"Yeah, I could go for some Italian, but only if you're paying. Let's get out of here."

It was no secret to them that Heidi was often a very nice and upbeat person when she didn't have the bigger picture on her mind. Or in her face.

"Oh don't pretend you didn't enjoy my hands playing in your code Stark" she smirked taking her tablet out of her bag and sent her report "oh and director Pryde wants a status update from the avengers on the next move, her words not mine"

With a few taps and swipes on her tablet she sent out a few emails from the field and watched the feed back coming in about what happend today.

"Oh and I'm not hungry by the way...I have had my fill on day old donuts and bad coffee that SHIELD loves to give out" she laughed and tapped her tablet a few more times and looked at starks suit as if she was trying make it move with her taps

As Skylar walked out of the gas station, she noticed that her phone had received some instant news feed on a mutant that tried to attack Prodigy. How stupid can one get?...I work on a low profile..stunts like these don't get anywhere... she thought to herself as she put her phone away, walking on the sidewalk silently. However, she paused for a moment as her clairvoyance began to activate randomly again on a random stranger, suddenly having several flashbacks of that person. She only stood there as she received some mental strain, getting several bystander attention. At least with her mutant powers, people wouldn't bat an eye that she was one in the first place right away. Once Skylar regained focus, that the mental strain was gone, she immediately rushed away from the crowds. The last thing she needed was unneeded attention.
