So I think Leith would have joined the Investigation Squad. Any information I should have on the jobs he had had, Lucius?
During the timeskip the Investigation Squad has participated in two investigations: both of them robberies done in Djarkel, but done differently. The first one is your average "Someone broke in and stole all the valuables" robbery. After about a month or two of looking for evidence, keeping an ear to the ground for further movements, and a bit of asking around, they managed to link the robberies to a mortician who largely serves in closed-casket funerals. He's been smuggling stolen products through these funeral caskets and uses his children, four young adults, to rob certain homes that have been marked by a local crime family in order to scare the clients into playing protection fees. After turning in the evidence, the mortician and his family was arrested, and over 405 Gold worth of stolen goods were obtained. However they couldn't figure out who or how the mortician was contacted by the crime family, but that's a case for another day. Everyone involved was given 10 Gold for their services and also made friends with some merchants in Djarkel, most of them "General Goods". Ironically enough, this means that you can now sell them stolen items, no questions asked.
The second case was a bit more mysterious than the first. Another robbery, but this time it was a relic collector. Also in Djarkel, he collected objects known as "Daemon Artes". Daemons were a variation of demons who, narrowing down their types, typically were not "Malicious" but still carried their demon taint. they often lived like hermits in the mortal world, never really going out of their way to bother mortals. They live in Tiien because it's more pleasant there. Daemon Artes were artifacts created by Daemons of old, often imbue with magic powers. There were once many, one or even two for each Daemon, but many of them have been lost to time or destroyed due to various reason. The artes themselves aren't really practiced anymore since it involved the Daemon learning the craft from mortals, though occasionally if you find a calm, cool collected demon taking up apprenticeship, he may create a Deamon Artes.
This man collected Daemon Artes from Daemons who didn't mind parting way with their creations, and many of them had quite a history. One day however he began to notice that many of his Daemon Artes going missing, and soon suspected that there was some sort of thief coming in and taking his treasures. He hired out many investigators including the college, making it into a sort of race to figure out who dunnit. there were three main business rivals that the college had to be wary of. Two of them were fairly legit people from Eania, but the third one from Djarkel was notorious for stealing other investigator's work and sabotaging them in order to reap the full benefits. Despite his underhand tricks, he was quite effective at what he did. But what they didn't have was easy access to Daemons; Tyrael helped out by hooking them up to a Daemon who explained the mechanics behind Daemon Artes, and directed them to a Daemon Artes of an old friend who's creation was made to find other Daemon Artes, the Dojo Eye. Though they had some problems getting it to work, once the group obtained it they were able to track down the stolen Daemon Artes, but not the thief. After returning the stolen Artes they were rewarded 10 gold each, and for those who participated in the previous investigation, they were allowed to have one artifact of their choice (From a list I will be generating soon). The thief, by the way, never returned, but his lair where he kept his stolen artifacts were also destroyed, which was not an action made by the Investigation Crew themselves. He may turn up again.
Additionally, the Dojo Eye is now a tool useable by those in the Investigation Crew. If they wish to find more Daemon Artes, they may ask for it from Satori and go out into the world to find it.
