To a lesser extent, the Mage's College in Skyrim can serve as an example, as well.

I don't think its like the Skyrim mage's college at all, because the mages there are never attempted to be eradicated like the mages were in Dragon Age 2.

More or less. Though unlike in Dragon Age, the only ones who are threaten to be taken over by demons are Demonmancers. Not to say that other mages can't be possessed, but it's easier with a Demonmancer. And from my understanding, the issue in Skyrim is simply that the Nords don't like magic. While there are some places who think like that, the Twilight College and it's areas don't share that sediment. Though a hatred against magic could be used as fuel for their eventual destruction. Maybe. Depends on how you guys play your cards.

There's different types of eradication. The Mage's College in Skyrim shows push factors of peer harassment and a general sense of get-the-hell-away-or-we-will-kill-you-all, whereas the mages in Dragon Age 2 were just murdered flat out.

The Nords just resent magic users because they believe it is more honorable to fight with a sword, axe, mace or bow. It's not that they want to murder them all it's just they have little respect for them. Save for those who are trained in restoration magic, they have respect for them as shown in the temple of Kynerath. And also its different for necromancers, they have the idea of "they all need to die" when it comes to necromancers

The Oblivion crisis also played a role in it. Their culture didn't particularly exemplify magic before, but they didn't really resent it until after that.

Elder Scrolls is my absolute favorite series. Halo used to be a contender, but then 343 got involved and now it has fallen significantly down in rank.

Also, I believe I will bring Dirssi over to the area where Liam is...where is that again?

And so all is right with the world. But there is one problem... I GOT A JOB! I don't know how my schedule will be looking, so I might be off again, on again.

In completely unrelated news, I think I'll see about getting something up tomorrow. Hopefully I won't be too boinked (Note to self: Boinked is apparently a word) after my other work to get something down for here, among other things.

Maybe magic and technology could go hand-in-hand and live long and prosper. Isn't that what you students are suppose to ensure happens?

The problem is not that we could fail to bring about such a perfect world, the problem is that because of the prologue, we will. I hate more than anything being flat out told 'fuck you, you lose.' as opposed to 'in all probability you will fucking lose.' Because a tiny, tiny smidgen of hope would be appreciated. I guess my only comparison is dungeons and dragons. No matter how difficult the roll, no matter the stakes, a 20 is always a hit, always a success. Sure, 1/20 odds is godawful and I will probably lose, but that tiny little chance drives me forward, rather than making me give up because of the sheer futility. I won't mind if that doesn't work out, but just pre-determining things leaves a lot of efforts pointless. Hell, I'd at least appreciate the illusion of chance.

One might extrapolate a lot of things from the prologue, but there is not a lot you could say with certainty. It could be happening 5,000 years in the future for all we know (unless there are familiar characters, I don't exactly remember). The only thing you can really know is that the world hasn't been destroyed up to that point.

That's rather presumptuous, don't you think? All the intro mentioned was one person who didn't know about the college, and an old woman who did. You are too quick to assume the worse of things, Free, for someone who hopes for the best. Also, watch your tongue. It's one thing to be vulgar as a character, doing so out of character is just immature, even if you're trying to emphasis a point.

There is much more power in the hands of the players that we allow you to know. For some of the same reasons why the gods fear mortals and their technology. If I, for one, find that you do not need my guidance, that you could carry the story yourself, my purpose is no longer needed. Just has I have with the Warden. But until that level of unity and cooperation is complete, I will remain among you, guide you, until you decide to break free and inherit my position. But that is a long journey from now, so you should worry about the road in front of you instead of the one over the horizon.

One: you don't know how old that prologue is...it could be 100-30,000 years from this time.

Two: At some point it will happen as it allows magic to regenerate and grow stronger the next time. Right now, Tech vs Magic is more a balance to keep the Gods from being over ran by mortals.

Three: Each time this cycle happens, it lasts longer so at some point it could be a permanent thing.
