I would like to make a post, but there are some things I need to figure out. Namely, is it a good time to move the carriage through? I remember there were supposed to be reinforcements later but...I'd really prefer not to fight anything else. What is going on with that?

Meirin killed the reinforcements. Meta wise Ssarak and Co don't know about that, so it'll be up to him to decide if he wants to go back to the carriage and try to bring it over here to loot the camp. Though I'm sure once he arrives and see's the dead bodies he could come to the conclusion that you've limited at least the immediate local bandit problem.

Also, just for clarification, the weapon he found was a longsword. You meant that its size was appropriate for Ssarak to use in one hand, but was two handed for a human, correct? (Using the terminology appropriately, a longsword is designed for two-handed use).

Yup. For the vampire it would be what most would know as a "Great Sword" or as I know it as a "Bastard Sword" because of it's sized. Think Aragorn's fancy sword he gets later in the LoTR movies. While someone of good strength and skill can use it one handed, for someone like Ssarak it'll default to one hand since there simply isn't enough hilt space for him to try to use it two-handed. It looks something like this. Again, not magical, but quite fancy.

Admittedly, the weapon isn't isn't quite sized for someone like Ssarak, but the point is that it's large enough for him to use. Go see Tyrael after the mission and he can retrofit the sword for Ssarak to handle better.

Another question just came to mind. How does mineral rarity in Tien compare to Earth? Salt, in the ancient world, was a very valuable commodity. Roman soldiers sometimes had their wages paid in salt.

Complex, however there have been magical innovations which helps alleviate the needs we once took for granted in modern times, such as the ready access of clean water, labor, and material goods. As for where and how we get most of those materials, I know us GM's are working on it. I know at least that Tyrael gets metals and certain natural resources from the Ravine, salt which he can get by hunting down certain creatures and extracting saline from their radish-like heads (There are weird monsters in the Ravine).
