Do we get a cameo by an actual giant robot? :O

Most likely, if Vita allows it. Since I think that would take out a significant chunk of any fiction work based navy, short of, say, the Xeelee or something.

Yeah, but the Gunbuster aliens only have numbers going for them once the titular robot goes online. Everything gets one shot like no tomorrow.

...Now, the Diebuster aliens are tougher, but that's because they go 'Screw you, black holes."

That's slightly inaccurate. The difference between Gunbuster and Diebuster is that one is the aliens at their peak, the other is a single specimen that's been feeding on something created in the aftermath of Gunbuster's wrecking of everything (and a mook). Gunbuster and Nono could probably be swapped (well, not story-wise, but ability) and manage each others' fight scenes. :P

Space Monsters are actually ridiculously powerful, still.
Their motherships can mass scatter entire gas giants with a near-miss.
Their cruiser class which during the final battle they fielded in the millions or maybe billions are capable of destroying Titan (shown in Diebuster).
Gunbuster just happens to be so powerful it can deflect 20,000 of these attacks by waving its cape.
And it can literally cleave its way through hundreds of thousands of space monsters via a single massively powerful kick.
Granted all of these feats have nothing on Nono literally splitting a black hole larger than the entire Earth in half. It'd literally require energy millions of times more than any other feat in Gunbuster combined (save for the blackhole bomb, ofc).

Nono's greatest ability: she splits things.

Gunbuster's: it has the best fight scene ever.

Nono's super-strong stuff isn't relevant because she is pretty much not allowed to use it at all in the RP.

The exception is IF we ever get a scenario where she has that much room, enemies that warrant it, and I okay it, which is extremely unlikely.

The agreement for her acceptance was that she can't use her overkill attacks because of collateral damage.

I'd also like to point out that, out of the characters mentioned as being stronger than her... Samurai Jack has the best chance because he's so incredibly skilled he could easily fight Saber. There's certainly plenty of ways to hurt her in the RP, but pure magical attacks? Kazuma's not looking good in that department given Saber's magic resistance. ^^;

But this is the reason SE mooks have magically-enhanced laser gun things, so they can hurt characters like Saber who have extreme resistance to mundane attacks and magic.

I was out for a while so I haven't had a chance to look at any bios as well. ^^;

Doesn't Jack's sword hurting Saber imply that Saber is evil?

Considering what the Grail Wars are, I'd probably say Saber's swung over to the grimier side of the moral compass more than once in the past.

@IncredibleBee: ... Oh, that's a good point, I forgot how far the "doesn't hurt good" thing goes. ^^;

It's been a looooong time since I watched Samurai Jack.

@Earnest Evans: We see all of Saber's time in both Grail Wars she was in, she never does anything evil except for one continuity where she's still not exactly full-blown evil.

But this Saber isn't from that one.

Then again, I don't know, Jack certainly fights non-evil people at a few points but it also doesn't hurt evil.

Yeah, it can't hurt anything good aligned. So, like half the cast. Including I think some SE and S+ members.

If you want to hurt Saber, you need antimagic weapons.

Or really powerful mundane weapons. She's got A-Rank Magical Resistance, after all. Any magic weapon will pretty much just slide off, unless it's explicitly designed to go through magical resistances.

Magical weapons also do.

So long as it's not magic itself.

Or anything extremely strong/magical but not attacking via magic.

So, say, a magic sword hurts her because it's still a sword, just magically empowered.

Also extreme mundane damage still hurts her, just not as much as it would a regular human.

So, what's the part of the magic sword that hurts her? She's really resistance to Magic, and she's really resistant to regular attacks. You'd think the magic part would fail, then the sword part would fail at the same time.

So to simplify "how do you go about hurting Saber": you don't cast spells at her, and treat her like any other high-powered magical knight. Think big or get really good at stabbing.

As was noted on the last page, the sword doesn't hurt 'innocents'. Saber is many things, but she is not innocent (As can be noted when Caliburn broke for breaking the code of chivalry) So she could still be hurt by Jack's sword if he could land a hit

You're not attacking her with magic, you're attacking her with a supernaturally-empowered weapon that can hurt her.

Pure magic attacks, though, she can just walk through. It takes a huge amount of magic to bypass her Magic Resistance, something like some of the attacks of certain Noble Phantasms.

She can walk through Caster's spells, but physical Noble Phantasms like Gae Bolg or any number of Gil's can hurt her just fine.

"Punch her really hard. If that fails, hit her with a really heavy, really sharp thing. If that fails, shoot her with a really big gun."

That's pretty much standard operating procedure for the people on the UMMA side, really. Most of them are supreme ultra-warriors who are the last hope of their worlds.

Is it that surprising that when you go about collecting heroes from things, you tend to end up with a choice of: A) supernaturally empowered and hard to kill, or B) guile heroes who you have rather a lot of trouble actually fighting? Villains, too; strangely enough people don't sign up to RP's with the characters from period dramas. :P
