As somebody who has seen almost none of the new season, how many people know about Salem? I kind of got the impression that the number of people who did was very limited.

Honestly I have no clue the exact number, but I can guess that Cinder and her crew know Salem, Ozpin for sure, and possibly other members of his inner circle. Ruby and crew just got a clue about Salem in the recent episodes.

If, hypothetically speaking, we are following canon events that it's far more likely that Gren would be trying to find Cinder, though seeing that the Team RNJR are already on that it'd be more likely that Gren's going to do the whole warlord thing and taking on the White Fang at least. Though I wished they elaborated a bit more about the exact nature of Vale's destruction, since from my understanding it's only Beacon itself that's a hive for Grimm, with the rest of the city in ruins but still livable if Glynda and the other teachers can run operations out of there.

But then again the entire plot is getting rather convoluted and a lot of background info is missing, so fuck all if I know. I'm just going to keep filling in the gaps until something shows up and says otherwise.

- Qrow knows Salem (or at least heard about her) for sure.

- Cinder works for Salem.

- Salem's realm naturally generates Grimm. Destroyed Beacon is more like a lighthouse for the Grimm.

Team arrived at drop point. Traveled through forest. Discovered signs of approaching Grimm. Robert ordered for them to hide to try and ambush approaching pack. Dropped down on top of Beowolves. Delta remained in trees for some reason, separating him from the rest of the team who were on the ground. Beowolves grabbed him and dragged him off, never to be seen again. Entire story, Robert makes it sound like its his fault, but if Ozpin looks into the subtle clues in the story (i.e. other option was to drop inside of fort instead of the outside which would have gotten them surrounded, team got snagged on branches and such, Delta didn't drop down with everyone else when Robert said to) he'll probably see that a lot of what happened was more unfortunate circumstances and him trying to make what he thought were the best calls with the limited options at his disposal.
