It's was over an hour since school let out and Midori was free from her duty of educating young and not so willing minds. One would think the teacher would now be taking a well deserved break, but no! Evil never rests so a hero of justice such as herself wouldn't rest either! And so the red haired woman stood atop a city building, over looking the city for any sign of trouble. So far it had been remarkably peaceful.
Midori knew better than that. They were only lulling those poor citizens into a false sense of comfort. Those dastardly villains were sure to strike when they least expect it. It was up to her to keep a vigilant watch on the city to ensure it's safety!
In another part of the city, a young girl with short brown hair ran down the sidewalk, being careful not to run into anyone. Her erratic pace made it clear she had been running for awhile and was clearly getting tired. Try as she might to continue pushing herself, she eventually slowed to a stop and bent over to catch her breath.
"I'm soooo late," Inori bemoaned between harsh intakes of air. She had completely forgotten that she promised her mom she'd help take care of the new kittens that were brought in. She had gotten far too caught up in feeding the ducks at the park and completely lost track of the time.
Heaving a sigh, she straightened herself up and began walking at a much more manageable pace. There was no point in tiring herself out if she was already going to be late.
It was then that she caught something shadowy in the corner of her eye, "Huh?"
She turned her head and peeked at the alley she had just noticed she was next to. Had it been a stray? Maybe she should comeback here tomorrow with some leftovers. There was no telling how awfully hungry it would be.
