Basic InformationName: Casper Hayat
Nickname/Alias/Etc: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Height: 5’5” Feet
Weight: 105 Pounds
Type: Fulltime Student
AppearanceHair Color:Very dark brown, looks black without sufficient light.
Eye Color:Dark Brown
Ethnicity:Olive, Egyptian descent.
Physical Appearance:Scrawny, frail and fragile. Casper is a short and visibly weak boy who wouldn’t pose much of a threat. He seems to be on constant guard, his large brown eyes ever vigilant for an impending ambush and he often keeps something in his hands as if to feel safer. A book pressed against his chest, his fingers wrapped around the strap of his shoulder bag or fiddling with his hands are common sights.
His hair would be considered rather long and thick, bangs falling over his forehead and covers his eyes unless kept out of the way. He doesn’t possess any notable scars or additions to his body in the form of accessories or tattoos, the thought rather uncomfortable.
His ribs are rather visible and ‘you need to eat more’ is common to hear. Despite an otherwise reserved and shy demeanour, he doesn’t seem to have much of a problem with his body. It’s not much to look at, and the scrawny nature is certainly nothing held high by media or society, but he hasn’t displayed much reluctance in removing his shirt during PE class at the pool. It could be assumed that there are little to no visible muscles stretching out across his frame, leaving a set of plain limbs stretching out from his torso. Despite his arabic heritage, Casper doesn't posses a lot of body hair. Facial hair has also trailed behind. His father doesn't seem to be very far on that scale either however.
It can be seen that Casper dislikes getting dirty as he constantly keeps himself as clean as he can. He enjoys using fruit scented perfume, mainly strawberry and keeps his nails cut and tidy. Being a perfectionist, his own frame is the most important thing to keep in order. This has lead to him being called 'Fruit basket'.
Casper's skin isn’t as tanned as it could be, but his ethnicity adds an olive tint to an otherwise light tone. Fitting his frame, Casper possess a quiet but light voice. As he speaks in somewhat silence, it can be hard to hear his words and he doesn't like repeating himself too often. He has however learned that it's often necessary.
Casper treads with care, his eyes trailing the floor as he walks. Some people has stated that his big eyes are rather 'cute', and some has stretched it out to his whole being as 'cute'. It could also be argued that eyes seem bigger the smaller you are.
With light footsteps, it can sometimes be hard to hear him due to his size and weight. Others often call him 'emo' and compared to the other boys he has always been somewhat of an outsider. One shouldn't be fooled, though. Casper is comfortable in his body and has never really dreamt of looking any different. He's small, he's fragile and he's everything the typical male shouldn't be, but he feels it a waste of time to wish another body upon himself. Avoiding those who'd make things hard for him has been easier. Standing at 5'5" feet, he knows his limitations and has shaped his everyday life after what has been presented.
Attire: Casper prefers simple clothing consisting of jeans and hoodies, or t-shirts if the weather warrants it. Most clothes he gets his hands on are loose on him but it happens that he can wear a more tight fitting shirt if he finds it. During summer, he wears tank tops or t-shirts along with a number of leather bracelets across his forearms. Dark colours are preferred, but it isn’t uncommon to see him in blue or red, though he always wears jeans. When it comes to more proper outfits, he hates it. The stiffness of a blazer and dress shirt are not preferred. It is common to see Casper in a toboggan hat, or beanie, to prevent his hair from covering his eyes. Casper always wears red, blue or green canvas shoes.
PersonalityInnate & Outward Personality:Casper is a careful, quiet and reserved young man. He usually tries to think about various pros and cons before entering a situation but life doesn’t always give him the chance to do so. He doesn’t talk much and expresses a shy demeanour, lacking confidence of any notable level. He prefers to avoid conflict and rather apologises than stands up for himself. While he lacks what would be considered a backbone, Casper is a very polite individual who goes to great lengths to help others whenever he can.
Casper shows great respect not only to his peers but also to kids his age, sometimes considered a suck up. One could argue that it’s the way he has been raised but at the core, it’s simply to avoid conflict. Being polite and respectful usually results in a positive outcome.
While Casper is a quiet and weird kid, getting to know him would eventually reveal a more adventurous personality. He is indeed careful and doesn’t like to take risks, but his hobbies wouldn’t be the first thing you’d consider when thinking about him. On a more psychological evaluation, his action oriented interests are a way to compensate for his overall weakness.
Surprisingly enough, Casper doesn’t bother hiding his sexuality which of course brings more punishment to an already rather bothersome situation. He is homosexual, and while he doesn’t wave it around, he doesn’t pretend to be straight either. If asked, he will tell the truth but otherwise he doesn’t bring it up.
Hobbies/Interests:Casper loves Airsofting, being a frequent contender of the sport. He also likes firing ranges and marksmanship, as it’s relaxing and an escape from an otherwise powerless existence.
Video games are of course far up on the list as well along with watching movies and listening to music.
He’s not a big reader but can enjoy writing at times and finds a big interest in mythology and folklore.
Casper loves cats.
Cooking is something he really enjoys and uses his powers when doing so to avoid doing the dishes.
Skills/Talents: Casper is a great shot and has an accurate eye.
He is fluent in Arabic, American and Swedish due to an Egyptian father, Swedish mother and having grown up in America.
He seems to have an easy time with pronouncements and even if he doesn’t know the language, he can pick up the pronunciations easily.
A polite and respectable personality can make it easier to talk with people. Too bad he’s bad at talking with people.
Casper is also a great cook, though has little to no confidence in his ability when cooking for others.
Prized Possession:Every bracelet he wears is woven by his father and is of great value to him.
Quote(s): They say that the greatest courage can come from the smallest hero but…I don’t know…
History/Bio:Casper grew up with an Arabic father and a Swedish mother, both of whom were incredibly open minded and accepting individuals. They raised him well, but throughout his childhood, Casper kept mostly to himself and it grew with the years.
It was early that he learned that his mother had been struggling with a terminal illness but it didn’t show itself very often. In fact, she was a very strong woman but with her energy being constantly sapped, it eventually became too much. What could be considered a perfect little family was down one member December of 2012. Her passing was hard on both Casper and Khalil, his father, but together they managed to struggle through it.
With her gone, Casper grew even more reserved and kept to himself most of the day. The passing of a year was enough to eventually crack a small hole in the shell he had created and he started to speak more and spend more time with his father. Their relationship grew stronger once the mourning had been going on for a while and things started looking up.
Khalil continued with his store, a rather successful business, and Casper’s grades at school were picking back up. Before and after his mother Lena passed on, Casper’s life was rather straight forward. His supernatural ability showed itself as early as five years into his life and has since then been close to his heart. He doesn’t use this ability to scam others but it can at times get him out of tight spots.
He is recorded as a behaving kid but he’s not a saint. He slips up at times and sometimes does in fact use his ability to benefit himself but not unless the other option is a deterrent.
Casper gets along with most people but has had ‘that one bully’ following him around in every school he’s been in. For most part, people leave him alone and while considered weird, he’s not someone people usually dislike without reason.
Since an early age Casper has found great interest in the concept of meta-humans and powers all together. Given the fact that he noticed how he was 'different' at such a young age, he quickly grew interested in what other people could do. He happily spent many hours on the internet, reading up on various incidents concerning powers and meta-humans. Having been registered with NEST, he was cautioned to keep his powers in check and also developed a slight paranoia. So many people had problems with their powers and so many accidents had occurred. It filled Casper with a hint of worry. What if that would happen to him? Meta-humans are considered walking bombs by some and others simply hate them and Casper understood why. They are unpredictable, dangerous and a sneeze can lead to an inferno from some. Luckily Casper didn't have a mutation which could lead to such issues.
All of this did however add to his shyness, and wanting to stay away from others. Staying away from others meant that nothing bad could happen. He didn't want to add to the statistics of meta-human accidents and disasters. As most things have two sides however, it made him think about how far a person was willing to take this. How far was a meta-human willing to take their powers in order to gain something? Casper could replicate anything and sell it. No one would be able to trace it back to him. That was an adventurous thought, but it only lead to scaring him out of the thought process. NEST were scary to say the least and they were ruthless on people who abused their powers.
Casper has decided to stay on the good side of everyone and just keep his powers as low key as he can. That way he doesn't get into trouble, even though the thought of using them for gain are dangerously 'interesting'.
Family: Khalil - Father
Lena - Mother (Deceased)
Naya - Aunt (Father’s side)
Olaf - Uncle (Mother’s side)
RelationshipsAbilitiesPower Class:Other 4
Power: Duplication
Casper is able to replicate any object he touches and gets an identical copy of that item. Upon coming in contact with an object, he simply has to concentrate upon the surface of that item, the feeling against his skin, and another will appear in the same hand. If Casper's cells come in contact with others, they can cause a chain reaction of replications and create identical copies to those cells and in turn create a new item out of what seems to be 'thin air'. The process is almost instantaneous, the item appearing from the same end touched by Casper's fingers. The object in question looks like it 'builds itself' into existence in in his hand, as if building blocks, from the end touched to the other. Casper doesn't feel anything special as this happens.
Every copy can disappear by simply willing it gone. It took a lot of practice, but at this level Casper can command his replicas with ease. Bullets fired vanish, including everything they leave behind (excluding environmental effects they cause). If he'd eat off of a replicated plate, removing the plate would drop all the remains onto the closest surface. Every replica is in all intents and purposes real, and exact copies of whatever they originated from, but once they vanish, they leave nothing behind.
Having a replica in existence does not require continued effort, but repeated duplications within a short amount of time will eventually drain Casper's energy and leave him fatigued.
Other
Apparently, Casper’s cells to not split normally but rather replicate themselves. At first, this was thought to be cancer but after further examination, it would seem like it is due to his powers. As his cells do not split normally, they do not deteriorate and it is speculated that once his body and powers have matured, he will stop physically ageing.
Limits:The item in question cannot weigh more than two pounds.
Casper can only replicate one item at a time. A second will remove the first.
The item must come in contact with his skin, mainly his fingers.
Casper cannot replicate organic material, not even living wood. It must either be inanimate or in the case of wood, dead.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks: Apart from the limitations, Casper’s power doesn’t affect his body in any negative way. Casper is however an incredibly weak person and wouldn’t be able to hold his own in melee combat, at all. His lack of confidence can easily get in the way and standing up for himself is an almost impossible task. He’s what you’d call a whimp. Given all of this, it might be easy to take advantage of him through the right amount of persuasion or intimidation.
Other: NEST Registration Number - 8467CK
Sample Post:Blasting music into his ears was a habit. No, it was required. Casper had often stated that without music, he can’t function. With the headset firmly planted on his head, the young man turned to the song ‘Masterpiece’ by Madonna just before his finger pulled the trigger. He heard a loud bang piercing the music and reached over to click a button. Before long, he saw the bullet hole in the target as it slid down across the range. “Not good enough…” He sighed, sliding it back. The shot had almost pierced the bullseye but it wasn’t in the bullseye.
Lately he had been rather distracted, not getting enough sleep. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, because everything was going so well. His dad’s business was blossoming, no one had made life hard to live and every day passed without any notable casualty. Another shot was fired. Might as well keep going, one of them was bound to hit the spot. Maybe that was the problem though, the fact that everything was going so well. Maybe it had pulled the vigilance out of him. A third bullet left the barrel.
“Casper!” A sudden voice brought the boy back to reality and after almost dropping from shock, he turned to meet the voice. It was Gregory, the supervisor.
“Yes…?” The boy returned, lowering the rifle and pulled his headset down to his neck.
“Your dad’s been calling you.” He handed Casper the range’s phone. Oh, this happened sometimes. Casper had his music blasting too loudly and his mind tended to wander off. It could leave his cellphone vibrating in his pocket without him noticing it. Luckily Khalil had the number to Casper’s favourite place.
“Oh…” He returned, reaching for the phone. “Hello?”
“Habibi, why don’t you pick up?” Khalil was a good man, always calm and collected. He was also incredibly patient and into all the new age stuff Casper could barely understand. It was a miracle how he was so accepting of his son’s interests.
“Sorry…” Casper replied, lowering his head slightly. Worrying his father wasn’t something he liked to do but…it just happened sometimes.
“I am on my way home. Do you want something to eat?” Given the fact that the two were complete opposites, it was safe to assume that their eating habits were as well. The social, fun loving and spiritual father was a vegetarian, but Casper barely even ate vegetables.
“A burger?” He spoke, hoping for something greasy and unhealthy. Funny, he never gained any weight and still looked like a skeleton, despite all the burgers he ate.
“Would you like some gasoline with that?” Khalil joked. While trying to get Casper to eat healthier, he wasn’t a tyrant about it. Sometimes it was hard to believe that Khalil even could lose his cool. “I’ll be home in thirty minutes, habibi. Love you.”
“Love you too, dad.” He hung up, handing the phone back to Gregory. Well, that was his queue to leave. Putting the headphones back, Casper returned the rifle and slipped his bag on. It was a simple shoulder bag made out of cloth, by his father. The man owned a small new age store where he sold bracelets and other trinkets that he made. People seemed to really like those things and no matter Casper’s opinion on the whole religious aspect of it, he liked them too.
The way home was an eventless process with the occasional car passing by. Casper always did enjoy taking walks, though. They were refreshing to say the least and he could always escape into his own little world with every step he took. Upon reaching their apartment, Casper stepped into his room and dropped his bag on the bed. He hadn’t told his father of the sleeping issues, not yet. Should he, though? Things were going so well, he didn’t want to ruin it. Perhaps he could start seeing a therapist, they tended to help, didn’t they? Well, he knew one thing that was bothering him, his powers. What if he ever screwed up and NEST came to get him? He had enough control of his powers to never use it accidentally but you’d always hear about these perviously ‘normal’ people who’d go nuts and start killing everyone. What if one day that would happen to Casper? Not likely, Casper could barely hurt a fly if he tried. Was it this that was bothering him? Maybe, but it was too general, too broad. This couldn’t be it.
Hearing a key slide into the slot noted Khalil’s arrival. He could think about this later. Right now though, he didn’t want to spoil dinner.
