@DracheEither one is workable, though the half dragon will have to endure harder battles.

That's fine with me. I wasn't really sure if we're going with a certain level equivalent so I just put her around level 6, but I don't godmode so I'll fit her in to the RP, no problem.

@DracheThat is a *really* powerful dragon. So either I'll be summoning an elder elemental each time we have a fight, or we tone down your character a good bit. I'm not entirely opposed to the elder elemental idea.

The +14 racial stats should be reduced to something like +4/+6, distributed as you wish. Perhaps make the dragon younger to compensate?

8d6 damage is a whole lotta damage, but not impossible to overcome. I'd like to see some damage numbers on the rest of the spells.

Cut down the amount of skills to 10 max.

Greater Teleportation + Eschew Materials is borderline gamebreaking, so how about we exclude Greater Teleport from the Eschew Material effect?

Your character in general is built upon combo reliance, which is interesting.

@DracheDon't look at it as you being a bother. I don't mind doing these back and forths, as it's a natural process of RPs. You are of course allowed to defend and explain your choices, and if you have a reasonable explanation, I may very well change my mind!

I'm not sure what to say except that I picked these things because they are really cool. XD

I have been playing this character for a long time and she has a lot of history, which is good in one way because it makes playing with her more fun and interesting and easier to hear her voice in my head, but harder because when it comes to nerfing her to fit a lower-level campaign it's hard to let things go. :D

It's not my intention to break the game or make her overpowered so if that's your concern I will of course remove some things. When it comes to the strength of her abilities it's hard to put numbers on them because I got many of the ideas through free-form RP and not from a tabletop sourcebook. If you would rather decide the outcome of her actions based on a general pass or fail system rather than dice rolling then I would be happy with that. I tend to do things for flavour rather than to "win". I've never been good at or interested in "min/max'ing".

I did edit her sheet a bit but I was confused when you mentioned the +4/+6 stat modifier thing, I wasn't sure what you meant there. And then about her being reliant on combos, is that bad? I was just a little confused so I didn't make those changes yet.

Originally my intent with this character was to emphasis her ties to her red dragon ancestry, which means a lot of firepower (hah) but not a lot of practical skills (and even perhaps at a higher than usual spell failure rate due to a more "wild" type of spellcasting). I picked feats like not needing materials or components to cast spells because I don't think a dragon would need to do those things. High charisma as a sorceress = skills like bluff, intimidate, and sense motive. I liked the idea of spells and abilities that do multiple types of damage because fire is the most common resistance enemies have, so at least her lava bombs could bludgeon someone for half damage if they are immune to fire. I selected a bit of knowledge and language skills because initially she was a bit of a villain and had some dealings with drow and demons, and it maintains a bit of a darker side to her that goes along with her chaotic neutral rather than chaotic good alignment. In other words, others in the party are never quite sure if she might switch sides.

I hope this helped explain? Thanks for listening.

@knighthawkI think we'll do better by not moving the story along until we have at least 50% of the players back :P

Have fun camping.

First of all, a nerf isn't strictly the only option: just be prepared to face much tougher enemies fighting *you* if you don't want to change anything. It's a perfectly valid option not to. My word on this isn't set in stone.

>If you would rather decide the outcome of her actions based on a general pass or fail system rather than dice rolling then I would be happy with that. I tend to do things for flavour rather than to "win". I've never been good at or interested in "min/max'ing".

I do both the pass/fail system and the dice/point system for determining damage. Having damage numbers helps me judge the power of your spells. I've provided a point system for players unfamiliar with D&D and a dice system for veterans.

The +4/+6 thing is a simple addition. Adding all the racial bonuses on your character sheet currently gets me 14 points being added in total (8+2+2+2), which I find a tad excessive given that all the other characters are in the range of +2 *and* have negative modifiers. Not only does your character have massive bonuses, she seems to have no weaknesses in the stat department. See my point of view? Which is why I suggested a new total of +4 or +6, distributed as you see fit.

>I picked feats like not needing materials or components to cast spells because I don't think a dragon would need to do those things.

This does also enable some gamebreaking combinations in a game where a teleport normally costs very rare diamond dust ;) I can deal with it, just seems a bit odd.

The combo reliance is a cool feature, it's most certainly a positive one.

So, are you going to nerf your character a bit or shall I just make the game harder for you? Either one is fine, and I already thought of some interesting restrictions on you/buffs on enemies/area effects should you decide not to nerf XD

@knighthawkThat's going to happen in the meantime (Drache will need a new way of meeting the mage). I meant not moving the story along *too much* for you to come back and be two pages behind.

I don't mind having to take on stronger enemies if that will make things fair for everyone.

Alright. Thanks for explaining. I toned those down a bit.

I think you're forgetting that Eschew Materials only applies to components that are normally less than 1gp. Also, Still and Silent spells either take up a spell slot that are one higher than normal, or in a RP like this it's common to just say that they have a higher fail rate to compensate.

So, are you going to nerf your character a bit or shall I just make the game harder for you? Either one is fine, and I already thought of some interesting restrictions on you/buffs on enemies/area effects should you decide not to nerf XD

I did nerf some stuff just now. My goal here isn't to have a godlike character. Let me know if there is anything else I need to adjust.

@DracheYour character right now looks decent. Would you like to make up your own entry to the story, or shall we construe something together? You are a dragon after all.

Speaking of which, do you intend on having shapeshifting capabilities?

She's a half-dragon actually, which doesn't typically come with shapeshifting capabilities. We could look at polymorph spells or items, but I rather like the idea of her being unable to conceal her nature without a lot of work. When I usually play this character her story is that she came from a city that was utterly destroyed by a villain and she has become a bit of a wanderer. Her draconic father is dead, but his lair/hoard was never discovered, so she is looking for that in her travels, but otherwise is a bit of a collector of artifacts and rare scrolls/tomes. It's been a while since I read Forgotten Realms so if you want to help me pick locations where she might be from then that would be useful.

@DracheDuly noted, no shapeshifting.

In FR, Dragons are a diverse lot. They can live pretty much anywhere where man doesn't have a settlement.

For a basic rundown of what the stereotype red dragon is, look here: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Red_dragon

Generally, I'd find a hot place on the Faerun map, but you are given complete creative freedom in your backstory.

@knighthawkDrache's having some startup anxiety here, so if (s)he wants to swoop in, we'll see what we can do. I'm poking Taco as hard as I can without being stalkery, so I'll give'm a day to respond and move on from there.
