Background:
After the first events of Orean Cause, Evelyn was killed when trying to protect her then girlfriend Lisa and rival turned friend Rebecca from the onslaught of a viciously enraged Matthias Grimm, revealing himself to be an agent of Death who had come to take Evelyn's soul. As Grimm began ferrying Evelyn's soul into the eternal fires of Hell, Evelyn forcefully grabbed Matt by his robes and dragged him into the flames along with her. Matthias was instantly swarmed by a pack of ferocious, bloodthirsty demons, ripping him to pieces and feasting on his flesh. Evelyn however, she was taken down to the Circle of Traitors by a giant black crow, where after what seemed years traversing the scorched and ashen wastes littered with burned, mutilated corpses, she came upon a familiar damned soul crucified and with spears protruding from her body. It was her mother, Daniella Reindhart Thorne, condemned to Hell after using forbidden dark necromancy to bring Evelyn back from the dead after she was run over by a semi-truck at five years old.
Having learned of her gruesome and tragic past from her mother, Evelyn eased her suffering by slitting Daniella's throat and continued on her escape from the Devil's domain. She soon found herself embroiled in a bloody power struggle between Satan and the Arch-Demon Belial. Belial tempted Evelyn by saying if she helped him overthrow Satan from the Black-Iron Throne, that as the new King of Hell, he would grant her safe passage back to the realm of the living while also imbuing her with dark, mystical powers far beyond her original. Evelyn, though skeptical, she took the offer and soon war erupted in Hell. Belial's armies, with the help of Evelyn's corrupted soul, stormed the Black Cathedral and laid waste to Satan's demonic legions, Evelyn dealing the final blow by decapitating the Devil herself.
It was then she learned Belial had tricked her and merely used her power to aid his own selfish endeavors, as he never had intentions of her leaving but rather keeping her as his personal slave. Evelyn, in a rage she slaughtered his armies before him effortlessly, then engaged the deceitful Arch-Demon in a bloody sword fight atop the Cathedral roof, where Evelyn's right arm was severed by Belial's infernal blade. However, Evelyn was the victor after impaling Belial upon her wretched Hellion sword and carving him in half from his head to his toes. She later cut away his own arm and sutured it to her bloody stump
Belial's death opened wide the rift between Hell and the mortal realm, and Evelyn was free to leave, but....before doing so, she took the horns of both Satan and Belial, crushing them down and melding them together to make a fretboard. Next, she carved away pieces of the Black-Iron Throne and crafted from them the body. Lastly, she took her own Hellion sword she carried into battle, still cursed with unholy ferocity, and broke it down, making from the shards six thick gauged strings.
Finally, her work complete, Evelyn returned to the realm of the living, leaving Hell a burning, empty husk.
The caretaker of the cemetery near Orean Cause soon witnessed Evelyn's grave burst into flames and the ground beneath her stone crack open with a horrific sound. From the flames, Evelyn emerged, a
demonic arm grafted into her own flesh, her eyes gleaming a sadistic shade of red...and clutched in her hands...a dark and sinister instrument hewn from the very essence of evil, an instrument she christened as the
Hymn of Thanatos.
The Goddess of Metal had returned, and with her...she would bring forth unspeakable wrath upon her enemies.
