The way I understand the changes in skills available runs like this:

Combat skills
  • Shotgun Proficiency
  • SMG Proficiency
  • Pistol Proficiency
  • Assault Rifles Proficiency
  • Martial Arts Proficiency

Physical Skills
  • Stealth
  • Toughness

Technical Skills
  • Tech Savvy/Hacking
  • Gadgetry
  • Conversationalist/Psychology
  • Medical Knowledge


I'd suggest adding 'Athletics' to the Physical Skills set, to differentiate it from Stealth, which should then give @Avanhelsing the option to make a stealthy character who can get in anywhere while not being combat orientated. If you classed Lockpicking as a Stealth ability rather than a Tech Savvy one this would also help.

Making Patch Athletic/Tech might be worthwhile too, since he wouldn't be able to sneak around much, but would be able to climb in though a second storey window if required. :)

@Jangel13 Alright. Sounds good. Sorry about all the confusion. I was originally going to make a handler character myself, but if you would prefer to do more off-field stuff, I can PM you the info to give when we're IC if you'd like to play handler.

TO ALL: Revising my bit about specializations. Two of any instances of specializations (for balance). So only 2 people can use Stealth, 2 can have Tech, etc. Just so we don't have 9/12 characters master of stealth and 3 guys left in the dust. Since Angelo is going to be our handler (unless otherwise noted), he has top dibs on Tech Savy. Cause the handler's gonna need to do some damn good tech work to be get the info needed for these missions. To keep OOC from flooding in arguments/working it out, please PM each other to work out who changes and to what. There's dozens of combinations of skills, so don't think you're being limited in what you can use. I just want there to be a balance of agents.

And I have work in a few minutes, so I'll be out for a few hours. I'll add Athletic to allow for a less combat-oriented strength.

I could see Tough/Athletic working for Condor as well, after all she's never actually been trained with a weapon, having just picked up the basics while fighting to survive, but being able to dodge and weave during combat would be more worthwhile to her. And as you said being one of the few characters who'd be able to crawl through air ducts (as an example) could give her some purpose as part of the squad.

And despite what the films tell you, crawling through air ducts is not a stealthy option. Those things make a lot of noise.

If Angelo's our tech support then I'll switch Patch to an Athletics/Medical character. You'll have to give me a while to play around with his back story and other characteristics a little though, wouldn't want an Uneducated doctor messing around with my wobbly bits.

@Genni I'd recommend keeping the SMG specialty for Condor. She's probably learnt all about handling those tricky weapons 'on the job', even if she's never had official training with them.

Plus @Avanhelsing beat you to the Athletics and I need to switch out Stealth. :)

I'm happy to stick with Tough/SMG, that suits Condor's kill frenzy style better anyway. Why dodge and weave when you can spray and prey?

Looks like it'll be Patch and Jack crawling through the ducts.

@Genni I agree that Condor would be well-acquainted with those SMGs after using them for a while. Plus, skimming through your "past" section, she'd probably be much more inclined to let guns do the talking rather than her fists. But, it's not my character. Though, @Avanhelsing, if you're going for "master of diguise" and saying he's sociable, why not trade martial arts for Conversationalist? Sneaks past what he can, and talks his way out of what he can't stealth by?

Anywho. Gotta run. Work and all that ish. Hope everything can be worked out til then. If not, I'll lay down some verdicts and settle everything, when I have the time to read everyone's walls of texts you put as your pasts.

@Dragonite777@Avanhelsing If Jack goes for Stealth/Conversationalist then I'll go for Athletics/SMG. After all Condor's supposed to have an athletic build, which would look far better in a cocktail dress than a toughened hide.

If you'd prefer to go with Stealth/Athletics then I'll stick with Tough/SMG instead.

Since I'm making Patch into our medic, would it be too creepy to change his 'Ladies Man' trait to mention that instead of cyber-stalking girls he just drugs them instead? I wanted him to sound like a bit of a creepy smooth operator before, and making this change would just make him into a serial rapist.

It would certainly explain his disavowance for 'ungentlemanly conduct' a lot more clearly. XD

Just realise, Jack's a good 9" taller than most other people. How the hell's he gonna fit in the airduct!?! :))

Maybe he needs the extra height to reach the ceiling access panels? :D

If you're going to make Patch a rapist, you might as well change his money laundering into drug dealing as well. Without his tech skills he wouldn't have been able to set up those offshore accounts by himself, although he'd have to be a little more wiley to get aware with dealing recreational chemicals without leaving too much of a trail.

Know any good chicken restaurant chains he can buy into? :p

That's not a bad idea. Drug dealing that is, not chicken restaurants.

I'll downplay the connections for now, Patch'd be high enough up the food chain of drug suppliers not to be someone who'd be easily identified, and it could be used as an interesting plot development for @Dragonite777 later on.

He's also pretty skinny though. I just don't like having short characters. Also he is not that tall.

It's lucky you're dropping the disguise skill, 6'4" would be difficult to hide in most crowds. :)

In 2007-08 there were no known males aged 20-29 over the height of 6'3" in the USA - U.S. Census Bureau, Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2012, based off of unpublished data from U.S. National Center for Health Statistics.

Strangely there were quite a few aged between 30-59 (2.4% 30-39, 1% 40-49 and 0.5% 50-59.) Goes to show just how much the nutritional content of foods have changed since the 1980s. :)
