Decent concept @SimplyJohn, except for one thing... The Grand Master at the time of the Sacking, Zym, wasn't on Coruscant at the time. He was on Alderaan, negotiating the peace treaty with the Sith Empire.

Also, why would the Grand Master be summoning him anyways? There were tens of thousands of Jedi, if not hundreds of thousands. Thus knighthood isn't something truly special for the leaders of the order to get involved in. They had more than enough to do with the war effort and the peace negotiations.

The fact Zym wasn't on Coruscant adds weight to the fact Som was still in meditation. Normally it would be a very short period (one night) between a Padawan finishing the Trials and being promoted, but in Som's case he was having to wait for the Grand Master's return and so his extended stay in the Tranquillity Spire left a far longer window for the Sith attack.

As for why the Grand Master would be summoning him...
"...If the Padawan passed each of the Trials, they would ascend to a private meditation chamber high in the Tranquillity Spire. Following a night of meditation and reflection, the Padawan was summoned to the Hall of Knighthood where the Grand Master of the Order would raise them to the rank of Knight and sever the Padawan braid."
The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, September 28, 2010

It might seem a bit excessive that the Grand Master would be promoting every Padawan within the Jedi ranks, but I do have canon to support the backstory (even if it's only Legend canon now.) :)

If you'd like a more solid in-game reason, with the peace accords with the Sith bringing the war to an end, the Jedi Order were standing down from a war footing and returning to the traditions of the past. As the first peacetime Jedi to be promoted to the rank of Knight following the end of hostilities, Som was going to be promoted by the Grand Master in a ceremony which was to be broadcast across the Republic as a sign that things were returning to normal.

It was all a staged propaganda exercise to help comfort the Republic citizens and get them back to work. :P

Even if this weren't the case and another Master was to preside over Som's promotion, it's unlikely he would've been made aware of this beforehand and so from his point-of-view he was awaiting a summons from the Grand Master, or at least the Grand Master's proxy.

That's from the The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, published September 28, 2010 (ISBN 1603800964.)

The book is presented as the reference Luke used when forming the New Jedi Order, and has 'handwritten' notes from Yoda, Count Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, implying that it was the handbook they were issued as part of their training at the Temple.

Although the book was created in collaboration with Lucasfilm it hasn't been officially endorsed (or dismissed) since Disney took over the property, and so its validity is currently in doubt (as with so much of the rest of the lore.)

@Ellri I'm a freelance writer who works from home, which means I'm at it seven days a week. I can choose to take a day off, but since that means also choosing not to eat I tend not to do it very often.

Burned Ellri... :p

As for his rp explanation of it being propaganda for the Republic, I think that would be a good excuse and reasonable due to the fact I know Xid was knighted 2 weeks ago and much rather not change that. >_< He was waiting for assignment after his trials at this time hence why he's there.

Would you have room for a female Nautolan Jedi Knight who was captured while recovering from injuries in the medical bay?

The Jedi Prisoners are the largest group so yes, we're still taking more in this area and just looked up the race. Currently there seems nothing that would cause me to deny or suggest an alternative one, though be ready to list the strength and weakness of those special traits. Even highly developed senses have some flaw for its great strenght even if wiki doesn't mention any. Some species have established fandom which we accept to a reasonable degree, like Zabrak.

@Fallenreaper

From, what I know of the Nautolan their olfactory and pheromone-detecting senses are only exceptionally acute while they're underwater, since that's their home environment. In gaseous environments Nautolan suffer from poor eyesight, but make up for it with their sense of smell instead.

While this gives them a slight edge in certain situations, such as being able to smell someone from around a corner before anyone would be able to see them, at longer ranges where eyesight would easily pick out a target they tend to find themselves unable to smell out their opponents, and when wearing an environment suit of any kind their sense of smell is worthless as an aid. Things like wind speed and direction would also affect their olfactory senses, since scents may be carried away with the air flow, or be brought closer in favourable conditions.

Since they have difficulty seeing the faces of other races Nautolan tend to rely on pheromones when gauging emotional states in others. Due to their dependance on their olfactory senses Nautolans often forego the use of breathing apparatus whenever they can, keeping their faces, and noses, clear. They also have an innate mistrust of long-range communications, preferring face-to-face meetings with others when dealing with them.

With multiple hearts inside their bodies Nautolans are more difficult to kill with critical shots, although their heads and brains are still as much a weak point as with almost every other race.

Very happy to hear you have the weaknesses and strengths sorted out, especially since it gives the Sith Players something to capitalize and target. Some of those gives me an idea or two for torments.

Still accepting prisoners or Sith apprentices, as stated above. However, I feel I must warn you that some races will be looked over a little more finely than others, especially others with unique abilities beyond human. Some of the GMs have fondness and knowledge of key races, Echo for example specializes in Miraluka while I'm best with Zabrak.

Trust me, I know how to play this character while minimizing anything that would give her an over all advantage. I created the character for a community in which the faction she was joining(an underworld faction) had a strict rule about no force users allowed. She was really an experiment in character building for me. So to play her as a jedi will be simple. I'll post something once CS submissions are opened up.

I hate to be the negative one, but I'm afraid Miraluka characters are not being accepted, much as I love seeing a good Miraluka character.

This is because the nature of Force Sight gives them several rather extreme advantages that cannot really be accounted for and would lessen the enjoyment of the RP.

You are seriously going to restrict based off of what is unknown instead of setting limits for writers to work off of. I'd rather be shackled with limits than to be told no because of theory. Lets be frank, any force user is an unknown quantity. Any writer can manipulate their character to have godlike powers. But we trust them to put limits on their character. But its your circus. Though I would recommend that if you are gonna forbid something before hand then it should be stated in the opening post to save on people wanting to do something you clearly have already made up your mind on.
