@SimplyJohn Nodding

It is good to know.

Even then I like chatting with you all so casually; it is refreshing to just laugh and debate without losing friends over it.

(Mostly because the people I know don't understand I'm morally grey and don't care for factions in drama. I'll talk to who I wish. I also coddle no one, it only stunts growth. Say what must be said vs what they wish to hear. Many respect me because of this nature. The ones who are my friends value my words.)

I'll be at drill the day after tomorrow and the day after that, so sorry if my responses are slow those days. Tomorrow should be fine though.

Well, that's it, IC's open.

Please don't do exposition dumps in your first post, we have the character's life stories on their profile sheets if we need to check anything. Instead try to just give the immediate reason as to why they're on a Nevarran beach around a campfire with a group of mercenaries, and then throw in any ideas, suggestions or comments on where you think the party should head to next.

Try to highlight speak where possible, preferably using a colour not being used by another character, and keep paragraphs short, less than 10 lines. If you start finding yourself talking about something other than when you started the paragraph, start a new paragraph, don't just ramble on. This should help make posts easier to read quickly, as well as making your points clearer and more precise.

Feel free to throw up images, videos and links when you feel they may be appropriate as well. The site has functionality for that so we may as well use it. :)

Just back from a Star Wars roleplay where I was GMing a raiding party clearing out a cruiser of cyborg zombies taken over by a twisted holocron AI.

Ahh, fun times...

DnD bores me soo much. Like... (I was 16 or 17. No I was defiantly 16. Math isn't my strong suit, but I do know how to stack multipliers in rpgs. It was how I broke DA:O easily before doing the second area of the game. As in the treaties.)

Like, it was one of Claymore, some anime based one for "Practice" I guess? And they MADE ME a healer. As in I had no choice and wondered why I was there in the first place, so immediately I was annoyed. Secondly, dice are just not appealing, maybe I'm just a snooty bitch about that sort of thing? But I really don't do card games or any of that, and Dice are pretty much the same in that sense.

It just wasn't fun, everyone there was really close minded and made fun of how feminine I looked. I was not only embarrassed at how mistreated I was by my own friend, but at his own company. The dog there was the only thing nice there. It was a cute husky, and she tried eating my food. (Which I gave to everyone else.)

So yeah. Even my dad was trying to get me into that and I was like "No please..."
"Let's go to a hobby shop."
Or you could buy me Dragon Age 2 DLC...? (Never got it...)

I dunno. It just never appealed to me even though I aspire to be a writer.

Welp now I have to catch up with IC. Sorry I was busy for a while, I had driving and then I played Origins for a bit.

Let's hope I finish my driving Friday instead of Monday and I'll be done with Drivers Ed on Tuesday.

The Star Wars system is easier. It uses dice which tell you if you succeed, gain an advantage or gain a triumph compared to others which give you failures, despairs and threats. Balance the rolls against each other, if you have more successes than failures you pass, if you have more advantage than despair you gain a bonus and if you have more triumphs than threats you do something miraculous.

With this it's possible for someone to succeed in a task, but gain despair at the same time. No maths involved, but as GM you do have to be able to think quickly on your feet as to what exactly the outcome of the dice roll would mean to a character. For instance tonight someone picking an electronic lock succeeded with despair, and so the door was opened but they received a shock from the lock and their hand was numb while dealing with the people in the next room.

No hurry at the moment, we're all just hanging around at the campfire wondering who's going to be sleeping in which tents tonight. Apparently they're special tents that have been provided by Isabela from the Siren's stores, making them ship tents. :P

My group (Well one person with the help of another) summoned Mewtwo by channeling the main villain of the story and used him to utterly wreck the enemy character due to our own (minus guy with a strong pokemon) inadequate powers of just coming out of the first gym. He hit the enemy for over 1,000 damage which would of killed him if Mewtwo wasn't friends with the main villain due to them being from a different universe. I also have a uber Dratini with two abilities, a lucky egg, TWO abilities (Marvel Scale, and Moody) and a dangerous moveset. And when he evolves to Dragonite I got a in-universe dragonite-ite a mega evolution for his final form.

And Unown are actually badass. My unown does 2 d20's worth of damage to enemies and it's rock meaning it's uber effective as well.

I feel sad again. I have a DS yet I've never been able to play any Pokemon games.

And in other word I'm officially in denial cause reading. That's the other reason why I'm so distracted....

@booksmusicanime I played Platinum and beat it pretty easily. Then Wi-fi went down.
Cynthia wasn't a threat.

But... Pokemon just felt like a children's version of a MT game.
SMT pretty much made the whole Pokemon thing before Pokemon was made.

I prefer SMT. (Maybe because I'm a Cynical minded adult...?)
Even with it's minimalistic charm, I never wanted more out of Pokemon.

Shin Megami Tensei? I've heard good things about that, but never played it myself.

@Genni SMT is is very hardcore in terms of evolution and management of party.

For example. Say one party was great for a boss. Immediately after you get your ass kicked because all your monsters (Which consist of demons and angles) are all either weak, slow, or just getting hit by their weakness. Which gives the enemy additional turns.

But if you strike their weaknesses, or kill off their party members you get additional turns. Or land criticals.
Status effects mean a lot too. Thus the Press turn battle system.

The stories themselves are eh. Pretty generic in my honest opinion. But it is better than "Hey, you're ten. Go catch shit in tiny balls and make them fight things. Also Bidoof is just a gadget."

"Hey, you're ten. Go catch shit in tiny balls and make them fight things. Also Bidoof is just a gadget."

You forget that once you've caught 'shit in tiny balls' you unlock special abilities which lead to new areas where you can catch other shit in tiny balls, which in turn unlocks newer areas and even more shit in even more tiny balls. XD

The biggest problem with Pokemon for me was the whole trading dynamic. Not so much that you could trade, which in my opinion is a good feature to have for such battling games, but because different versions of the games made it impossible for you to collect all the creatures unless you either knew someone else with the other version and who was willing to trade rare creatures with you, or had more than one device and a copy of each version so you could trade with yourself.

For me that was just blatant commercialism, a bit like the new wave of games where you buy figures in order to unlock sections of the game, new fighters and new features. More undisguised attempts to milk money out of people.
