Back in the beginning, the multiverse was young. Only a select few worlds were born. The first stories told. Throughout time, as more stories were told, more worlds emerged. The worlds, save for a few, never interacted with each other. Some believe there was a barrier blocking the worlds while others say that passage between worlds were rare, even for worlds with plenty of methods.
That is until long after the First Multiversal War. Gods of the Multiverse began to emerge and graced humanity for their magic, technology, and emotions. It was during this time that a God by the name of Yveltal let his stomach howl across the multiverse. A sign that he will bring death and destruction in his wake.
To prevent this, a God named Diancie created a way to harness the energies of one’s soul to feed the monster and stave his attack. However, her choice of who would wield her gift couldn’t have been more disastrous. While they valued the goal of stopping the Destruction God, their methods were harsh. They instead used this power to, through deceiving young teenage girls, crystallize others souls and then corrupt them until they broke.
For a while, these beings, The Incubators, were able to get away with their crimes. That is until a Green Lantern spotted them and brought the situation to the attention of the Green Lantern Corps. While most agree that their means were ruthless, others claim that the ends justify the means and even some claim that, because they’re not in their world, they shouldn’t meddle in their affairs.
Other Lantern Corps got word of it as well. Then word spread to Earth where the Justice League resided. At first, it was just a simple war between the Corps and the JLA. However, it was only a matter of time before the Incubators managed to find out the method behind traveling between worlds, mainly through the assistance of a god known as Volcanion. One thing led to another and in time, the Incubators gained massive sympathizers and even people who would wield their soul stealing powers.
Naturally, they’d have opposition, be they people angered by the loss of their friends at the hands of the Incubators or people who vowed to destroy enemies of humanity. However, they were confronted by people who believe in the Incubators’ cause or believed in the concept of Prime Directive. Soon, every world either was involved in the conflict in some way or has yet to be.
The Multiverse entered the Second Multiversal War, known as the Hope/Despair Wars by a select few. The war lasted for fifty years before reaching a stalemate after the ascension of a new God. It was then that one of the Multiversal Gods, a trickster by the name of Hoopa, created portals to a world that wasn’t involved in the conflict until today: Earth.
You, or at least, your starting PC, is one of these denizens of Earth, plucked away by the portals and thrust into a world engaged in war beyond comprehension. Who will you meet? What will you fight for? How will you endure: The War of the Multiverse?
Rules:
1. No arguments. These can seriously kill interest for a lot of people and ruin the experience. This is evident especially in “My dad can beat your dad” level arguments.
2. No game breaking powers, like insta-kill, powers that give you free hits on someone, and mind control. If it’s a part of a character’s power set, nerf it.
3. No sex. Now, that isn’t to say that it’s not allowed period, but if you’re gonna have people engage in sexual activities, at least cut to black and ensure they’re of legal age.
4. Not really a hard and heavy rule, but yes, you can play as Canon Characters. If you wish, your starting PC can be a Canon Character, but include in your backstory how a human from Earth came into their world and how they got involved in travelling across the multiverse.
5. Due to recent signups, I'm reinforcing the rule regarding OCs. They must have come from Earth. It doesn't matter what time era, be they from modern times, prehistoric times, or even somewhere in the middle. Anything else is fine, like giving them powers or whatnot, so long as they were people in our world before jumping multiverses. Signups posted before the application of this rule (July 16th, 2015) are Grandfathered.
5a. To expand on this, OC Stand Ins (Canon characters that lack so much of a personality you could make it your own) and Semi-OCs are allowed (They are OCs but from Canon settings) while full-on OCs (OCs from Original settings) aren't.
6. If at any point I feel like I've regretted accepting a character into an RP, be it the player's behavior or how powerful said character is in execution, I'll reserve my GM's fiat and reject the character.
• Name:
• Age:
• Gender:
• Appearance:
• Method of Travel: (How does your character travel through the Multiverse? Common methods include opening up Black Portals and traveling on space ships, though feel free to think up other methods like using Helheim Cracks)
• Powers: (Describe what your powers are, if you have any. This can range from magic to equipment to natural abilities to anything else. Shards are an option. They’re splintered fractions of a character’s soul and absorbing them gives you their powers and also a mental image of them to act as a spirit guide.)
• Personality:
• Starting World: (This gives me a good idea where you came from, and if you’re playing Canon characters, this is your world of origin)
• Backstory: (Tell us how your character came to travelling through worlds, including the first world they got to and how it shaped them, personality wise and powers wise)
