Hello again! This post is the first post about 'Plague-Hunters', the new RP I've been making.
The world is named Rielach, whatever the language. In the first language, what was the original form of Exicus Magic, Rielach simply meant 'This Plane'. Rielach currently has a small handful of races residing in it: The Humans, The Giants, The Elves, The Dwarves, The Harpies, and the 'Fae'. Rielach has three main continents, taking up a rough 40/60% split of the land, and the ocean, respectively.
Rielach's continents are Kiruth, Straneyeth, and, 'The Formless Wastes'. Kiruth is mainly inhabited by the Humans and the Giants. Straneyeth, the larger continent, is inhabited the Elves, Dwarves, and Harpies. The Formless Wastes appear to be the 'homelands' of the enigmatic Fae.
The Fae and the other races attempt to steer clear of one another, but the Fae will not be your main enemies... Your main enemies are the Plagued. Ever since anyone can remember, Rielach has had a 'Beast-Plague' that infects all races, with no possible cure found. Aside of Death. The Plagued could be anyone at first, before their change. When the infection reaches a certain point, they become varied, hideous creatures, and appear to link into a hivemind of some sort. As stated, the Plagued vary wildly, Elves becoming over-grown, disgusting brutes, Giants fusing together into even larger unnatural creatures, and other such things. Each Plague Resurgence has had one 'Uber-Beast', which appeared to be the master of that Resurgence, and it's progenitor. None of them were any similar, and each took at least dozens of hunters' deaths to put down.
The Aspiring Hunters, Who you shall control, are the students of Senior-Hunter Joshua. Joshua is a full-blood human who specialized in hunting the most dangerous of the Sickened: Infected Fae. While rare, a Fae that's sickened is excessively strong, and has the massive magical energies of a Fae, combined with the raw brutality, strength, and hunger of a Sickened individual. He has killed roughly a dozen over his career, and has allowed magical researchers to examine the bodies, and now people are begining to understand the untapped power of magic just a bit more. Such as revealing new spell types, and which rules could be bent, and which ones can't.
Joshua has trained everyone to a reasonable level, and he has beckoned everyone to meet him at his camp in the Silent Forest, a gigantic forest that takes up a large portion of the north-west corner of Kurith. Every Hunter goes to this hallowed place at least twice in their careers: Once to test their mettle, and acquire a 'Familiar', and a second time to train the next generation of Hunters to do the same. Acquiring a Familiar is also how Joshua will teach everyone their first 'Exicus Spell', a special type of magic that uses the ancient First Language to communicate with omnipresent spirits and sprites. The first one you'll be taught is 'Turn Familiar', obviously, and you mark the rune around what creature you're referring to. The Spirits that inhabit the Silent Forest adore the Hunters, and will likely do whatever you say, thankfully.
Hunters have many tools at their disposal, including their signature 'Switch-Weapons'. Switch-Weapons are highly varied tools, usually made of a special material called 'Star-Metal', that can morph to and from different forms. Hunters are trained to use these to their fullest extent, which is their greatest individual asset against the Plague-Beasts that litter Rielach. However, it isn't their only other tool, as aforementioned, they have two different schools of magic to assist them: Vitae, which uses their own 'Mana' or inherent magical energies to do things, such as flinging fireballs or fixing wounds, and Exicus, to commune with spirits for generally more permanent effects, such as requesting a spirit to inhabit a blade or piece of armor to give it magical properties.
Hunters also generally have access to many forms of special alchemical potions: While most of them are 'short but intense' assistances, such as greatly improving the toughness of their own skin for a few precious minutes, 'permanent but low-key' medicines are also available, Yet, much rarer.
In any case, The Aspiring Hunters are being sent by Joshua to test their mettle, and acquire their very own Familiar. HOWEVER! Do note, the 'Turn Familiar' Exicus spell only works once! Be absolutely certain the creature you desire truly is. Many creatures inhabit the Silent Forest, so there should be plenty to choose from, whatever your taste. A CS will be posted shortly.
