I'm definitely interested by this, but i'm entirely new to Forum RP, so i'm not entirely sure what i'm doing.

It's collaborative story writing. You take care of your character, and everyone else will dictate the rest. Of course there are rules, guidelines and etiquette but it's all fairly straightforward. We're trying to create a picture and story for everyone to enjoy basically.

Mmhmmm, I got a bit of that from a few guides and other RPs that i've read, this is just the first one that i've joined, and i'm kind curious and nervous, expect lots of questions.

Okay great. Augmentation and genofixing is something of a fad in Outremer at the time of RP.

Can you tell us the scale/level of augmentation and/or genofixing... Or maybe give some examples?

A large percentage of Babylon's citizens have genofixed glands, which can produce a cocktail from thousands of pre-programmed chemicals which have varying effects on the body. Some are for pleasure, some are for focus, some are for stamina etc. Once you're familiar with your gland and its capabilities, you can to a degree master certain chemical impulses to make them more defined, or mix them up to create something entirely new.

As for Augmentation, integration of organic and Machine mind. (think Master Chief and Cortana), bio tech, replacement limbs etc. All kind of things. Bare in mind that most of the stuff is subtle and not fit for conversation at dinner parties etc. There are various alignments, pro-humans who believe in not tampering the body and remaining pure, pro-machine who believe in melding man and machine. Of course to start off with this debate isn't going to be at the forefront of the RP.

It may not be the forefront of it but it's definitely an interesting side.

...anyhow, to what extent would augmentation be, for a lack of better word... allowed?

Augmentation would be tolerated because there is nothing against it in the constitution. However there's an ongoing debate about it and interactions between people who believe in both sides sometimes get a little...out of hand? Most people keep a low profile regarding it but there are always extremists. Think Deus ex Machina.

That's exactly what I was thinking about. Or maybe on the more extreme side Ghost in the Shell, if you're familiar with it?

Unfortunately not, what's that about?

Without going too much into it's story.. think of it as the logical continuation of Deus ex. The augmentations evolve, get more widely accepted and reach the point where people actually go for full prosthetic bodies, not just limbs. Pretty much, only their brains remain in their bodies.

That is the natural conclusion of augmentation, should people choose to :) Exciting.

I like the concept of Genofixing, I was wondering what that was.

Hmm, so could we have a character that is genofixed to not require sleep? And have no detriment to not sleeping? Or is that going a tad too far?

What about combat augmentations? Those wouldn't be exactly common, but certainly military or rebel forces might have the technology to perform such augments.

The drugs would lengthen their attention span and focus, but eventually the lack of sleep would take its toll on the human body. The drugs are mainly supplicants and can't replace food, water and sleep. The genofixing glands are also in the Culture Series. Deep Blue is my favorite.
