Birds were chirping and cherry blossom petals fluttered down from the trees bordering the walkway. The new student gripped the straps of her abnormally large backpack while holding onto a map, and smiled up at the large building that stood before her.
"This is it! Starting today, I, Takano Hotaru, will be attending Takahashi High School!" With the inability to surpress a wide grin, she trotted happily toward the school. I wonder... Has the opening ceremony already started? She glanced at the scenery around her and noticed only a few students. Either that, or I'm exceptionally early... With a slight shrug, she continued to express her excitement through a smile while passing through the front gates.
A little while passed, and Hotaru's smile began fading. She scanned her surroundings once again and noticed that this time, there were no students around. "Eh?" She stopped in her tracks and spinned around a few times while constantly glancing back at her map for reference. "No, no. This is impossible. I couldn't possibly get lost on my first day!" In denial, she crossed her arms and shook her head vigorously. After about a minute, she plopped onto the ground. "Yep, I'm definitely lost. Just how big is this place anyway?!" Hotaru threw her map to the floor and complained to herself loudly, aware that no one was around. She sat with her legs crossed on the floor and decided to just wait. "Wait"... What exactly am I waiting for? A teacher or student to come find me and for me to completely embarrass myself? No way! She grasped her resolve and stood up once again to march into the large, deep abyss of the unusually large high school.
