It's the year 2025 and breaktrhoughs in gentic research have allowed for medical advances that could very well reshape the entire world. Speeding up the healing process, broken bodies could be made anew through the ever advancing technologies. This research, however, was copied and sold on the black market to an unknown organization that sought to use these developments to create chaos in the world. It took five years but by 2030 the organization's scientists found a way to give normal humans superpowers and by 2035 they had successfully managed to awaken the powers within a subject without killing them. Using test subjects taken from the streets, the organization bestowed powers upon the poor and homeless to better their lives... Or create hell for everyone else for the hardships they had been put through. Most choosing the latter, crime skyrocketed in the once utopian city of New Gaia, creating chaos and panic among the residents.
During this emergency the American Government authorized the development of the Guardian Initiative. After capturing one of the weaker "gifted" they studied the changes in his genetic makeup before beginning experiments on combat trained volunteers, hoping to recreate the results found in so many criminals running about the city. It wasn't until 2040 that they finally released their own subjects into the city to help combat the threats and clean up New Gaia. Thanks to the Guardians, the city's crime rate fell dramatically, giving it a sense of utopia once again. Unfortunately, like all things, this peace too came to an end. In the year 2049 an unknown enemy began picking off the Guardians. Disappearing for months at a time, Guardians would reappear insane or dead while others were never found at all. Now, just one year later, the governement has authorized the launch of a new Guardian task force: The Guardian Angel Project. Special Guardians, referred to as Angels, have been charged with the protection of the remaining Guardians on their new mission.
You all will be playing the Guardians, genetically engineered to have superpowers in order to return the city of New Gaia back to normal. It's your job to take down those who threaten the city as well as search for clues leading to the mysterious organization (dubbed Organization X). With the help of the Angels (played by me), you will bring peace back to the world.
This is a revival of an RP that I tried to start in March of last year. Due to some unfortunate events the original didn't have a chance to take off very far, so here I am making some revisions and starting over. The_Full_Spektrom will be helping me as Co-GM this time around, we look forward to working with you guys. ^.^
For right now I'm just looking to see if we can conjure up some interest for this once again, an OOC is in the works and will be posted if six or seven people express their interest for the RP. That doesn't mean that you can't ask questions though. Feel free to inquire about possible powers or plot opportunities while we wait for interest. Note to all: I will be buckling down more on the powers this time around. I won't allow some over a certain level, so if you have any doubts just speak up. I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability.
