Since the first strike was aimed at Itsuki's waistline, this means that she has to move her whole body above it, and very fast - which means she generates a strong upwards momentum that she cannot counteract with her body, having to rely only on gravity, the latter being too slow to get her feet on the ground in time.
Judgement, however, still has his whole body to use, meaning that unless he swings his sword around like a baseball bat (which i think he doesn't), he'll be able to unleash a follow-up slash and connect it before Itsuki drops low enough to have it swing above her head.
However, as Grevious has already hinted at, all of the above doesn't mean that DJ has to take the hit. Not at all.
