ABSTRACT: Electric generator disguised as a giant, fluffy, neon coloured Grandpa who has the patience of a saint. Also a fan of regular naps even though most of them end sooner than he’d like.
DETAIL: Celadon’s world is huge and almost overflowing with what we would call magic producing tens, if not hundreds, of different landscapes and creatures. Such landscapes do often make it hard to travel from one place to another so it’s not uncommon to find Modern cities a few days away from more tribe like societies. Obviously such differences do make people want to explore, often with the only option to walk, climb or even fly from place to place.
Celadon here is an Ethereal Tiger-Fox with the interesting ability to summon thunderstorms into being, as well as generate smaller amounts of electricity himself within his body most often by running or shaking to build up a static charge. But of course this was after many years of wandering and exploring so he is getting on a bit in years and even has grandkids out exploring the world much like he had many, many years ago. The Ethereal state is rarely gained by Tiger Foxes who do not settle down in one place as it requires the gratitude and worship of those nearby. Though they can still travel far away their powers will be a lot less potent than they would be otherwise.
The little Mountain top town of Keingry (Kine-cry) is Celadons home. The humanoid beings that live there thrive off the trees which crown both their mountain and those surrounding them, bearing plump and juicy fruits in the summer which can be used in multiple food recipes or stored someplace dry until needed. The bark and leaves of the trees also has a multitude of uses and is well sought after by far away royals and dignitaries. But seeing as the trees are mostly unique to the area, the people of Keingry are very wary before handing over any of their trees to anyone not of their kind.
However the mountain range is plagued by droughts which can last anywhere from a few months to almost two years (the longest being five years). It was during one of these droughts that Celadon arrived to the area, and while the people were very wary and curious about this creature at first the strength he had made it much easier to carry large amounts of water up from the lake at the base of the mountain. His electric abilities also came in hand multiple times in terms of fending off raiders and other unsavoury types after the precious trees.
Soon enough Celadon had even developed the ability to call thunderstorms to the mountain. While the power of the storms and control he had over them was shaky to begin with the villagers were nonetheless thankful for the rain they brought. In return they constructed him a small hut of his just a short walk away from the village. In his later Years Celadon would be very grateful to have an actual roof over his head rather than having to hide in a cave praying it would stay dry.
Whilst enjoying a peaceful summer day and one of those rare naps where the children of Kiengry don’t “sneak” up to tie ribbons in his tail Celadon would awake to find himself somewhere that wasn’t his hut.
DETAIL: In a world much unlike many other though in quite a few ways also very similar, war is a staple. People are born into the cause, no matter what the cause is. War here is not alike the wars we know, it is indeed fought, and harshly at that, but its much easier to kill when you know your enemy gets a do over. Life is a war game, you train, you fight you die, you respawn to fight again. How lovely is that? One such fighter in this war is "Skipjack" a reckless and confused youth who understands what he is told and until recently, very little more.
In physical appearance he looks like a lost cousin of the Adam's family. Pale skin and dark hair left in a mess he wears his standard duty black uniform. A long sleeve top made of thick material covered in a layer of hard plastic like stuff, made alike to light ware armor. Matching trousers and large black unpolished boots, with matching black gloves. He would be wearing a mask though he seems to have lost it. A small insignia of a triangle with a circle overlapping its top point is on his shoulders.
Without his home and his ability to respawn he has become a scared and unmotivated spirit, and he is forced to become more of a person then the soldier he has been. He is an uncertain firecracker. A soul of curiosity hidden under a fear and a drilled in sense duty. While he has always been known as some sort of loose canon, it is clear that he has never been as "loose" as he could be.
NAME: Product # 31773 "Ellie"
ABSTRACT: Glitchy android running on dreams.
DETAIL: "Ellie" is one of many in the first line of magic service androids on a far off star-liner which had taken off from the planet of crystals and commune "Renteria". Her functions are many and she has been made to be durable and to lift weights many times heavier then herself. While she would usually be a docile and calm creature, wanting only to attend to her guests, her personality seems to have taken a wrong turn somewhere, and she can more so be considered a starry eyed child in the metal body of a young adult, who cares not of morals and only of adventure. She has not parted completely of her original purpose, and has a need to be needed. If she is left to her own she suffers, unsure and afraid of what to be doing. She is most comfortable when she is given simple tasks, to do at her own liberty. An example of this is if she were given the order "stop that bell tower from ringing" and decided to blow up the tower base.
She had worked in proper service for nearly 42 years before her mental shift, and is still unknown as to why she has changed. She was given the name Ellie by the young son of the first family in her care. Her serial number when looked at upside down seems to spell out such a name.
She is created to look just like a native Rentarian, and thus she is pale in complexion, with faded purple hair. She has a sharp nose and a heart shaped face. A simple and serviceable smile is what can usually be found on her face, just bellow her spray of freckles across her nose. She has the Rentarian parted ears, almost as if she had for instead of two. They are long and elf like. Her uniform is a standard "Ashefield" Star-liner outfit, with black pants, a deep blue jacket with an ascot, and golden trimmings and cuff. It has become tattered in her misadventures.
While products in her line are made to look as natural as possible, some lines can be seen where two panels connect. The most obvious are at joints, and at two straight lines under the androids eyes.
Powered by a nicknamed "heart crystal" these beings run on magic energy, that can recharge themselves if there is enough magic in the air. They can run for three earth days before needed such a recharge.
ABSTRACT: A struggling mystery novel writer and former soldier who lives a bitter life on the Island Republic of Éire. She doesn't know what Rome is.
DETAIL: In Luigsech's world, the Roman Republic destroyed Carthage, but failed to get on its own feet, leaving the Celtic and Germanic cultures of Europe to work on their own, with many empires, kingdoms, republics and chiefdoms emerging in the long history of this new word. Éire is one of these Republics. Lugsech was born on the Island of Éire in the year 1922 around the city of Tara, Luigsech found herself stuck a tense environment as the Great Wars broke out in her young adulthood, 1945. Recruited to defend Éire and sent on the invasion of Englaland, the most dangerous opponent in Albion. Crossing through the war ravaged country of Cymru to meet with her Albian allies as they began the attacks on various cities, but ultimately the 3 year long war between the Celtic and Germanic nations ended without any real change. Luigsech never knew just what was going on, only that the Kingdom of Theudiska was making excuses to start a culture war; they got their chance by attacking Cantabria and Alba's ally, Polska. Now 25 years old, Luigsech is out of the military and trying to make a living in Dubh Linn, writting novels and hiking to both clear her head and get inspiration. It just so happened that this time she wouldn't be coming back home for a while. She looks something like this.
ABSTRACT - A self-taught philosopher lizard turned warrior-slave.
DETAILS - Ghurnas is the largest yet most barbaric of the nations. Ruled by stubborn warlords unwilling to set grudges aside to conquer common enemies. As a nation of warriors they force their enemies into slavery and keep them under an iron foot. They also love their blood pits and gladiatorial games, pitting slaves and professional warriors against each other. Settling grudges through duels instead of political intrigue as is most common in the world.
Morrian was born here in the savage jungles of lower Ghurnas. He's one of the beastkin that called the untamed lands home. Beastkin are humanoid beasts that are capable of shape-shifting into greater versions of their cousins. Morrian himself is a crocodile of imposing in size. Green and yellow scales with orange eyes. He always took a philosophical view on things. Despite his youthful optimism he lost the freedom that gave him wings.
The barbarians or Ghurnas invaded his small tribe. What's worse? Watching these remorseless killers wear the hide of your brethren like it were royal garments or to battle against undeserving slaves on their behalf? Morrian was untrained and though powerful by his own natural strength and size could not contend against the number of warriors that came to take the village. He was an obvious choice to be shoved into the arenas. Strong, powerful, just needed some direction and an equally powerful weapon (If his jaws didn't do the job in the first place.). The first few fights felt like mercy killing. They felt pitiful and unworthy of being warriors. Perhaps they were unworthy servants and the overlord simply wanted a means to execute them without bloodying his lazy hands. Years went on, Morrian slew warrior and slave alike. The only thing he got to look forward to was a reasonably powerful warrior to truly put him to the test. Finally as a matter of punishment for something that Morrian remained aloof of, the local overlord stood before their great lizard-beast to show his worth. He was found wanting as his blood fertilized the dead ground.
This caught the attention of the warlord. "If this beast were so powerful to best our strongest men, let us use him against Sturth." He plotted with his witch-adviser. The witch whispered in his ear things about sacrificing the beast to their god for empowerment. The warlord ever to be pulled by her whiles agreed.
Morrian was forced into the temple by a platoon of armored veterans. Wearing no more than his loincloth he was sent alone before the ungodly altar.
Abstract: An English detective working an administrative position in British North America during the height of the Industrial Revolution.
Detail: Tired, worn, and a healthy love for tobacco sums up Senior Constable Felix's present status. At 34 years of age he has had a perfectly normal career climbing the ranks of the Royal Colonial Law Enforcers. The last four of which he has spent as the senior document overseer. The official name for the gentleman who checks grammar and detail on important documents before it reaches the eyes of the state comissioner.
Ever since colonies had lost the civil war and Britannia brought them back into the fold of its empire, incidents and crimes have remained high. With high numbers of incidents comes high numbers of paperwork, which is where Felix comes in.
The job is stable but stale and boring. Felix seldomly longs for the days he spent patrolling the streets and investigating crime scenes. The days where he lived "serving the queen's justice upon the rebellious folk of the colonies." However, English tradition requires a man of his experience to fill a suitable position relative to said experience. Thus, Felix was transferred from the physically intensive job of investigative work to the mentally tedious job of being the senior document overseer.
Now he lives for the hours of leisure afforded to him when he can enjoy a good book, a cigar made of fresh Virginian tobacco, or a good game of croquet. He looks forward to the day that his commission in the colonies expires. A day on which he intends to sail for London, find an agreeable woman of good wealth to marry, and settle down in a countryside manor spending the rest of his life among friends and family.
A day that may never come since his eyes caught the strange compass and the gem among old confiscated goods.
ABSTRACT: A boy and his birds. An odd trio that like to relax.
DETAIL: Levis is a relatively short teenager who dislikes conflict. His shiny, short blond hair and blue eyes combined with his short stature can make him seem relatively innocent, but he’s had his share of troubles, perhaps more than someone his age is entitled to.
In Levi’s world, the humans long ago had forged a bond with a species of magical birds, so that they could live and survive together. It was a brutal time, where beasts fought each other for supremacy. The fragile humans cowered in safe havens while monsters tore each other to shreds. It was nearly impossible for humans to fight back as the sheer ferocity of most monsters often resulted in the deaths of dozens in a single charge. If there was one field that the humans excelled at, however, it was magic. Humans were smarter than the average beast, and many had magical abilities which they could use to gain an edge over the monsters. Man’s ingenuity might have held an edge against the beasts, if not for the beast’s own intelligent and magical leaders. Mankind simply didn’t have the numbers to make a difference, until one man discovered the birds.
The birds were also a relatively marginalised species, as their size was much smaller than most beasts, and even most humans. However, their magic surpassed the humans, and they made use of their different talents to the best effect. Even then, however, the birds could only scrape out a meagre living. As soon as the man found the birds, this was set to change.
The man and the birds took the world by storm, completely dominating the monsters with the might of their combined magic. The man and the birds carved their territories away from the threat of monster invasion, and as the humans cheered and ran to meet their hero, he smiled and told them that it was just the beginning.
Man and bird joined hands and conquered the world, establishing dominion over all of the beasts. The humans began to develop nations and progress their race, hunting down the remaining beasts for resources and to take more territory. Led by the man who started it all, the union of men and birds turned their hard life into a prosperous golden age spanning hundreds of years, even after his death. He was given the name Lightfeather, the shining beacon to both humans and birds.
Fast forward a couple of centuries and we come to the story of Levi, born into the royal family of the largest and most influential continent, reputedly stemming from the line of the man who unified the world, Aldo Lightfeather. Being the 3rd son of King Alphonse Lightfeather, Levi wasn’t expected to do so much, which was both good and bad. While the previous two sons were groomed to be political leaders, Levi was mostly left to his own devices. He wasn’t neglected, of course. As one of the royal family, if anything befell him, it would spell trouble for the country. He was, however, payed less attention than his older brothers and so spent his times happily, with less of a political influence. This would be a good thing, but due to his sheltered life, he made few friends. The ones he made were good friends, yes, but they were few nonetheless. They were mainly the ‘excess’ children of other noble families, and he got along with them reasonably well.
Most of the time, however, Levi eschewed human company for that of birds, and he found he was quite friendly with most of them. Levi often talked to them about his experiences, and they listened to him as any friends would. Along with his brothers, he had practically been raised with the birds. But where his brothers saw servants, Levi saw friends. To many in the Lightfeather household, this seemed odd, as birds were rarely seen as equals anymore. Levi, however, didn’t hesitate to treat birds as his friends, and this is likely because he could talk to birds since birth. He could communicate with birds even before he spoke his first word, and this was probably the reason he was so detached from human company. Levi may have continued his life of peaceful quiet if not for two very important events in his life: Meeting his first and only best friend and the death of his mother.
One day, while Levi was playing around with the birds again when a mysterious girl came out of nowhere. She was quite loud and spoke her mind pretty much at all times, pretty much the opposite of Levi. But Levi got along with her really well, perhaps attributed to the fact that they could both talk to birds. They played together a lot, Levi and the mysterious girl. Levi was very young at the time, maybe 8, and the girl was about the same age. They got into trouble a lot, but the girl would always mysteriously disappear. For the rest of his childhood, Levi had fun with his first ever real friend, but it wouldn’t last forever. One day, the mysterious girl began talking about her home and where she came from. It made Levi curious about the outside world and where she came from.
A week later, she disappeared from Levi’s life. Levi had no idea where she went, but he had a bigger problem on his hands. Levi’s mother was gravely wounded by an assassination attempt on his father which put her life on the brink for several days. On the last day she was alive, she called for her sons. They took turns visiting her, and by the expressions of his brothers as they left the room, their mother had told them something that was best kept a secret. Levi entered the room quietly and slowly walked to his mother’s side. They had been close in life, as his mother was one of the few warm familial presences in his life. Despite his mother’s failing health, she greeted him with a warm smile.
She told him a good many things, about her life as a peasant before getting married to the king and about their loveless relationship as she birthed the children he wanted. But Levi was her favourite child. As one who wasn't expected to succeed the throne, she was allowed to love him as a mother should, and it brought the happiness of motherhood into her life. She gave him a book, whispered something important to him and died soon afterwards.
The country became embroiled with political turmoil as they tried to find just who tried to kill the king. Alphonse Lightfeather was getting old, and it seems that the neighbouring countries had figured it out. The probability of his death was getting higher and higher and the concerns on who would inherit the country returned. It seemed, however, that the brothers themselves were mainly unconcerned, and they were repeatedly seen to rendezvous with each other, discussing something with uncharacteristic dead-seriousness. It didn’t matter to Levi, however. Levi had resolved to go outside the palace. His mother’s life as a peasant and his best friend’s account of the world outside had left him feeling empty, knowing that he had been sheltered all his life, and he now knew that he knew little of the world outside. Hence, Levi decided to leave. He ran away from his castle, taking the family crossbow with him, and set foot for the outside world with his three remaining most trusted friends, his 2 birds.
Blade takes the form of a crow from the aptly named ‘bladewing’ species of magical birds. You could probably guess what he does, but that takes the fun out of explaining it so imma do it anyway.
Essentially, the bladewing species are known for their ability to temporarily harden their wings to an edge, practically turning their wings into blades. Blade is named so due to a lack of imagination and the fact that he can harden his wings pretty much all the time, more often than normal bladewings. Blade can cut through wood and stuff with little difficulty, and if he has enough speed, he can cut through solid rock. This power does have its drawbacks, however.
For starters, he can’t cut through anything bigger than himself. Since he’s the size of a crow, it’s a pretty big problem. If he tries to, say, cut a cliff, he’ll probably get stuck. If he misses an opponent and begins speeding towards a wall though, he can just deactivate his hardening, but he’ll smash into the wall and it’d really hurt. Also, if he hardens his wings, he can’t move them freely, thus having to resort to gliding. Thus, momentum is very important to his attack power, and without open space, he loses a lot of effectiveness. Additionally, Blade isn’t unbreakable. He’s essentially a sentient flying sword, and swords can be broken. Broken bladewings are usually thrown away by their masters as they are no longer useful.
Blade is basically Levi’s main firepower. Levi directs Blade and Blade deals the damage. Other members of the bladewing species can temporarily turn into weapons for the use of their ‘masters’, though Blade can’t do that yet since he’s quite young. The bigger bladewings are favoured due to large wingspans and larger weight make for better damage, but Levi likes Blade because he’s fast, and that counts for a lot.
Blade’s kind of quiet, somewhat fashioning himself to be a broody mature kind of character, which never ceases to entertain because he’s about 8 years old. Besides that, he’s mostly in control of his emotions, though not as stoic as Bernie. Levi appreaciates his company and Blade in turn increases the firepower. One of Blade’s relatives is in the hands of the eldest brother in his family.
Robin is a little red bird, pretty much exactly the same as a normal one, who’s almost always constantly on Levi’s body, be it shoulder, head or other. Robin is very small, but she makes up for it with her magic abilities.
Robin’s particular family is the somewhat enigmatic seer birds, so called for their ocular based magical abilities which include foresight, far sight and general ability to ‘sense’ better than any other. A rather enigmatic bunch, with no specific biological similarities. It seems that the seers simply adopt any birds who happen to have their branch of magic.
Robin’s magic revolves around sight and perception. She is able to discern the weak points of things, including enemies, structures and other stuff. It’s a passive ability, so no real active effort is needed. As well as this, she has telepathy to communicate with other birds. It does, however, take time to spot the weak points, and Robin can do little on her own.
The seer species of birds are usually picked for utility roles, as they have little to no physical advantages. Some are used as aids for the blind, and some are used for scouts. Some are used by human seers to augment their prophesising abilities. In regards to their enigmatic social structure, it seems that some birds are born without their regular inherent magic and are instead shown to have seer properties. Thus, the seer clan of birds are less of a species and more of a diverse group of birds tied together by mutual abilities. The leaders of the seer clan are great prophets, and know when a new seer will be born.
Robin was taken from her birth parents and put into one of the various seer clan families, specifically one for ‘seeing in the present’ related abilities. Her older brother, an owl, was picked by the second prince (Levi’s older brother) because of his particularly strong far seer and weak point picking abilities. But Levi liked Robin’s company, as Robin was fairly small and appeared to be a common bird. And often told Levi about the outside world.
The magic of this world work similarly to psychic powers from real life, in that some people have the same ones to varying degrees and they don’t cost anything. Levi’s magic works through gathering and fusing. He can gather light to make small objects which are somehow physical. He usually uses them to make crossbow bolts, but he can gather and fuse things other than light, he’s just not very good at it.
His most powerful ability, however, is the ability to temporarily fuse his birds to his crossbow to make it stronger for one shot. Blade becomes the bolt and Robin becomes a scope thing. Levi can basically turn his birds into upgrades for his crossbow, upping its power for one shot. Firing blade, he adds to Blade’s penetrating power and Robin directs him to the target. That’s all the magic Levi can do right now.
ABSTRACT: An apprehensive oddball with some serious people problems.
DETAIL:
In a world flooding with humans, the powers that be are attempting to limit the human population through any means possible. Whether through killing, castration, or any other number of things, the heads of this society will control the quantity, quality, and distribution of residents; but it is all in the name of a much desired utopia that can only exist if they get to do as they please. It is from this belief—that humans must maintain their population to achieve paradise— that the rest of Caradoc's reality stems.
There are too many beings and too few resources. Humanity seems to be drowning itself in kiddies, and the problem is only worsening as more and more mouths to feed manifest. Those in charge have put a family planning policy in place that they hope will help control the population. Depending on where you are in the nation, the amount of children you can have is dictated by either a lottery, your genetics, or the number you can protect and feed. The inhabitants must submit to a series of payments throughout their life to keep their fertility; when born, parents must pay for their child to keep their potency; when those children reach maturity they must pay; and when they have their own kids they must pay.
Measures are taken so as to discourage or disable people from reproducing. Sterilizing or castrating your children after birth is rewarded with ration cards. The children who go to school are taught to fear sex including a man and a woman and abstain from ever involving themselves in such things, for homosexuality is far more noble and clean. Those we used to call savages and murderers are secretly employed by the higher ups, and whenever they want to be amused they will put on a show.
Caradoc was just born in a shit hole. His parents didn't want to see their extra child be slain, so they instead put their bundle of joy in a small basket and handed him off to interested adopters. Poor little redpath suffered the same education as every other kid in school: learning to fear da sexy times, ration cards are pretty sweet, and that human lives are worth close to nothing. When he finished his education, the young man started his training as an assassin.
DETAIL: Scattered throughout the seas of his world are feral islands with wondrous treasures tucked away within dense jungles and towering mountains. Ellis has always dreamed of adventuring and attaining infamy just so he could earn bragging rights among his peers. In reality, because of the rigid hierarchy of his hometown - a busy port city where ships come and go constantly - he as a kid from the slums found it hard to make the necessary moves to reach the top. Since his youth, Ellis has worked under a boss in some capacity. Whether it was delivering messages between black market brokers or transporting goods himself, he never had the opportunity to call the shots. Never was he credited with making things happen and it bothered him. It was when his superiors began pulling rank over him excessively that he decided to take matters into his own hands. Severing the ties he built in his city's underworld, Ellis began stealing from those who gave him the little power he possessed. Whether others thought his decision was a mistake or not irked him little. Although the risk superseded his reward he was just glad to be in charge of his own operations.
Ellis is by all means an opportunist. He is completely into self and personal gain. He has a reputation for being both a "rat" and a "snake" meaning that he would put dirt on the names of others without hesitation and sell their secrets if the price was high enough. Before he earned notoriety as a thief and a backstabber, Ellis used his charisma to build up trust, make friends in various places, and squash it with betrayal. A speedy and evasive fighter, he always managed to avoid the wrath of those he burned by hightailing it at the right moment. His dirty work has made him numb to the feelings of others - or so he likes to believe. Perhaps somewhere deep within his subconscious there is a shred of compassion remaining. He isn't in a hurry to find it if it is there, however. The less he worries about consequences of his actions the more likely he is to act. It is apart of his free spirited ideology. To him regret is as restraining chains around his ankles.
He is a slim dark skinned man whose age ranges in the early to mid twenties. Preferring to maintain an appealing image, he tries to keep himself well groomed with his attire consisting of a neat white short-sleeved, green pants, and brown shoes. His black hair is worn at a reasonable length and is of a thick texture. Signature to Ellis is his mischievous smile which spreads across his face whenever he is scheming or lying. A capable fighter, he keeps his distinctive curved sword equipped to his hip for easy access. He is far from the best swordsman but is skilled enough to hold his own whenever confronted with a capable opponent.
