Felix Avery Brustburry

Appearance

Abstract: An English detective working an administrative position in British North America during the height of the Industrial Revolution.

Detail: Tired, worn, and a healthy love for tobacco sums up Senior Constable Felix's present status. At 34 years of age he has had a perfectly normal career climbing the ranks of the Royal Colonial Law Enforcers. The last four of which he has spent as the senior document overseer. The official name for the gentleman who checks grammar and detail on important documents before it reaches the eyes of the state comissioner.

Ever since colonies had lost the civil war and Britannia brought them back into the fold of its empire, incidents and crimes have remained high. With high numbers of incidents comes high numbers of paperwork, which is where Felix comes in.

The job is stable but stale and boring. Felix seldomly longs for the days he spent patrolling the streets and investigating crime scenes. The days where he lived "serving the queen's justice upon the rebellious folk of the colonies." However, English tradition requires a man of his experience to fill a suitable position relative to said experience. Thus, Felix was transferred from the physically intensive job of investigative work to the mentally tedious job of being the senior document overseer.

Now he lives for the hours of leisure afforded to him when he can enjoy a good book, a cigar made of fresh Virginian tobacco, or a good game of croquet. He looks forward to the day that his commission in the colonies expires. A day on which he intends to sail for London, find an agreeable woman of good wealth to marry, and settle down in a countryside manor spending the rest of his life among friends and family.

A day that may never come since his eyes caught the strange compass and the gem among old confiscated goods.

@pure493 I'm getting a noir feel here. Very awesome! Also a really cool alternate history idea. :D Absolutely approved! Just to make sure we're all on the same page, though -- the Chroniker does not exist in your world: I'll introduce it in the first couple mod posts. However, your character could totally find the true Vanishing Stone a replica of the Chroniker, or even some research and documentation on how it works. Maybe someone was trying to duplicate the Chroniker and had written down some theories.

Got it! Also my character philosophy is to create someone who will inevitably conflict with another character because of personal differences. I'm sure the colonial attitude of the world Felix was raised in will cause all sorts of trouble in his interactions with others. Nerevarine's character in particular.

A Lizard

NAME - Morrian

ABSTRACT - A self-taught philosopher lizard turned warrior-slave.

DETAILS - Ghurnas is the largest yet most barbaric of the nations. Ruled by stubborn warlords unwilling to set grudges aside to conquer common enemies. As a nation of warriors they force their enemies into slavery and keep them under an iron foot. They also love their blood pits and gladiatorial games, pitting slaves and professional warriors against each other. Settling grudges through duels instead of political intrigue as is most common in the world.

Morrian was born here in the savage jungles of lower Ghurnas. He's one of the beastkin that called the untamed lands home. Beastkin are humanoid beasts that are capable of shape-shifting into greater versions of their cousins. Morrian himself is a crocodile of imposing in size. Green and yellow scales with orange eyes. He always took a philosophical view on things. Despite his youthful optimism he lost the freedom that gave him wings.

The barbarians or Ghurnas invaded his small tribe. What's worse? Watching these remorseless killers wear the hide of your brethren like it were royal garments or to battle against undeserving slaves on their behalf? Morrian was untrained and though powerful by his own natural strength and size could not contend against the number of warriors that came to take the village. He was an obvious choice to be shoved into the arenas. Strong, powerful, just needed some direction and an equally powerful weapon (If his jaws didn't do the job in the first place.). The first few fights felt like mercy killing. They felt pitiful and unworthy of being warriors. Perhaps they were unworthy servants and the overlord simply wanted a means to execute them without bloodying his lazy hands. Years went on, Morrian slew warrior and slave alike. The only thing he got to look forward to was a reasonably powerful warrior to truly put him to the test. Finally as a matter of punishment for something that Morrian remained aloof of, the local overlord stood before their great lizard-beast to show his worth. He was found wanting as his blood fertilized the dead ground.

This caught the attention of the warlord. "If this beast were so powerful to best our strongest men, let us use him against Sturth." He plotted with his witch-adviser. The witch whispered in his ear things about sacrificing the beast to their god for empowerment. The warlord ever to be pulled by her whiles agreed.

Morrian was forced into the temple by a platoon of armored veterans. Wearing no more than his loincloth he was sent alone before the ungodly altar.

(( Sorry, I wanted to write more, but I didn't want to bore. Also my computer crashes every like, 3 hours, so i needed to quickly write this up before it pooped itself. If your wondering who the character is, He's actually from my (I hope to fully write) amateur novel series, one of the many characters in the story. He's not the main character, but I enjoy writing with him XP so it's still original, right? ))

NAME: Mayonaka Ambersabre

ABSTRACT: The Ruby Magician with a lot to say and a lot to do!

All about Mayonaka

Age: 13

Appearance:

Mayonaka stands at 5 feet 2 inches in height with a Caucasian white skin pigment. A thin, yet athletic male possessing a set of medium length dark blue hair, reaching his shoulders in length from the back but only to his cheeks at the front. The hair at the front is parted in the middle and rests at either side of his cheek, allowing his eyes to see ahead of him. Mayonaka also has a set of crystal light blue eyes, with a thin red ring along the outer iris.

Mayonaka can be classified as something along the lines of a Neko. Possessing a set of cat like claws, teeth, tail and ears, along with this he posses a thick amount of dark blue fur along his body, which covers a majority of it aside from his human face, neck palms and feet.

In terms of clothing, Mayonaka adorns himself with a jet black closed jacket with red trims:

He also wears a pair of white light armored mithril leggings and black upper class shoes, rather formal.

On his back, he wears his signature waist length red cape, As a symbol of a Ruby Magician, the cape is made of a fire resistant fabric, and possesses a popped collar, giving it extra flare. It is engraved with magic symbols and finally on his hip, is his signature weapon, a magic imbued falchion that Mayonaka can channel his magic through.

Personality:

Mayonaka can be described as a happy go lucky, smiling youth, whom many adults would claim is just a naive kid with dreams bigger than his ego. Mayonaka is a caring, loving and sweet male who just wishes to make people happy, though given his childlike, whimsical personality, it's hard to take such a guy seriously. He loves acting like a joke, a clown, someone to laugh at. With his feline like genes, Mayonaka is also incredibly energetic, not afraid to climb, scale and leap, he explores the land with joy and loves sharing the knowledge of what he's found with others. He may not be as overly intelligent as many other people, but he means well, and would gladly put himself in harms way for the ones he loves. Mayonaka tries his best to succeed, for the people around him, not wanting to make himself out to be a burden.

Mayonaka also harbors a more lonesome, darker side, though what and why is up for you to discover.

Skills:

Agile, catlike nature: Mayonaka loves to use his body regularly and constant training has allowed him to be more agile when it comes to scenarios, whether it be scaling a large building to gain treasure inside, to dodging and countering an enemy blow to gain an advantage, he launches, slides, hops and jumps his way to victory, as they say, cats always land on their feet! Reflexes!

Swordplay: While he may not be the most efficient at swordplay, Mayonaka is creative in the way he uses his weapon, not a master, yet not a novice, a jack of all trades at using his falchion, he is capable of using his speed to reach an enemies blindside to assault them, using his reflexes to gain the advantage, He can also use his tail to coil and attach with, allowing him to creative assault his foe while flinging magic at the same time, for double the power.

Magic: As a Magician, Mayonaka has trained in the way of using Magic. What magic you may ask? Through the years he's been a mage, Mayonaka has studied the use of Lightning, Gravity and Summoning magic, with some dabble in the curative artes, though in this story, he is unable to use his summoning magic.

Lightning: Using lightning, Mayonaka is able to manipulate the element of lightning in a plethora of ways, lightning balls which can blow foes away and stun them, to lightning bolts which may ricochet to other foes in a chain, they're quick, efficient and leave his enemies stunned, rather like himself!

Gravity: Over a small area, mayonaka is able to create a barrier of gravity around a 2 meter area, which slows and compresses EVERYTHING inside, including magic, and the sort, so a foe is trapped within could still dodge a magic attack, as the magic would be slowed down as well. Using this barrier of gravity, if a foe inside is distracted long enough, Mayonaka can slowly condense the ball and cause gravity to collapse, to either damage a foe significantly or at its most deadly, completely crush a foe into a mushy paste.

Cure: My placing his hands onto another person, and expending his own energy, Mayonaka is able to slowly but surely heal an individual even from a fatal wound, though it isn't efficient in battle, it is great for during breathers, allowing Mayonaka to support his allies.

Biography:

Mayonaka comes from a world that could be described as something from a glorious fantasy world. A world known as Otchlan. It is a world that can be quickly described as a world of medieval architecture with a tiny dabble of Steampunk. The world isn't technically a world either, more like, if you cut half an orange in half, that would be Otchlan. It's like half a world, with the inhabitance of it living on the flat end, and the interior of the world consisting of seas, the core of the earth, and all that, a very bizarre planet. Of course, it's not incredibly flat, as mountains and the like spike up from it.

Mayonaka belongs in this world. It is a world filled with endless beautiful landscapes, terrifying monsters and destructive demons. It is a world in peace, racism has been a fickle memory for a long time, and the world has been at peace. It is home to many odd and strange races, all with their own take on life, but living peacefully(most anyhow) in their separate countries.

As for mayonaka, Where does he fit in? Well, Mayonaka was born in the country known as Kysar. It is a medieval styled country surrounded by four others, and is home to a few main races. When Mayonaka was born, his father, angeal left him, a Hunter by trade who gamed the likes of Leviathans, Serpents and Mountain sized lions, he didn't suit being a father, and left. His mother, Alexia was the only one to raise him, however, that became incredibly difficult, you see, she was the captain of the guard, her duty was sworn to her city, she tried raising him, But when it was five years old, it became too difficult for her to handle both protecting the city, and protecting her child, that is when a man approached her.

He called himself Izan, he was a Demon, Master of a collective of Mages known as the Ruby Magicians. You see, in Otchlan, Many races were unable to naturally use magic, only around 10% or so, could use such an ability, Mayonaka's race, either the cat like species nor his Human origin could use it. Alexia had heard of the Ruby Mages before. They were a collective of powerful magic users who lived in a fortress in the skies so she was told, and as Izan revealed his magic potency, she believed him.

Izan came to her with a proposition. She would let him take the child under his wing, and train him, so that the boy may fend for himself one day, and when he's older, and wiser, that the child would one day come back, to save her life. It was more of a vision if anything, but a Demon was a demon. In otchlan, two types of Demons exist. Harmonious Demons who simply wish to nurture humanities growth and see them live. And Latvin Demons, who desire the opposite. Izan was a Harmonious Demon, his aura was calm, he was relaxed, not feral, the opposite of a Latvin, Alexia had no choice but to agree, but in return, asked she was kept up to date on his current profile. Izan accepted.

But you may ask yourself, How did Mayonaka become a mage if his race was incompatible? There are many hidden ways one may become a mage, either by natural racial ability... or a more... dangerous alchemical surgical procedure. Asleep and without pain, Izan saw a future for the kid, and brought him to the Mystium Sajinterisies, the Steampunk fortress powered by magicka, as big as a small city, way up in the sky, hidden away by magical barriers. In the childs sleep, Izan, using magic, severed half of his own heart, and half of the child, and switched them, transplanting, half his own demonic heart to the boy, which granted the child the ability to gain half this demons power, severing half the power from himself in the process.

Mayonaka has grown up in this steampunk styled magical facility under Izan as his Master, to learn how to fight, and survive, to use magic and become a strong, capable fighter, Mayonaka got much of his personality from Izan, he was very wisecracking, joked a lot, smiled, it gave Mayonaka hope. Mayonaka accepted his fate. In truth, the Mystium was a combat school for mages for mercenary work, at least, that's what it seemed to be. These children, Ruby Magicians are fighters and fight under orders of their leaders, Headmaster Izan, and Headmistress, Rubicante.

Having stayed in the Mystium for 8 years, Mayonaka was given his first assignment. In Kysar, his homeland, various heroes had begun to gather, along with many malicious individuals, apparently connected to an event many years previous, Mayonaka was to head to the sight, and find out what was going on. Little did he expect, he would be dragged into what can only be called the multiverse, to be put on a whole different journey, before his true story began.

I'm hesitant because it seems you've got a very detailed world, magic mechanic, and character backstory made up. As a mod this makes me wary. I have to know and trust that if I say something happens that directly conflicts with your character ideas (if a spell goes wrong or the half-demon heart becomes a plot point) it will not be questioned and I won't be forced to adhere to your novel's canon. This will likely never come up at all in-game, but it's the kind of thing that should be clarified from the getgo, just in case.

If you agree to allow me free reign on plot and mechanic even if it directly conflicts with your novel, then you're approved. :) Otherwise, you might want to consider creating a character specifically for this RP, one who is flexible to the whims of the plot.

Ah... Free reign sounds problematic, would it not be more appropriate for us both to come to a reasonable agreement on my characters positioning in the plot? That, and i wasnt intending my world/lore to be used in the rp....! I expected hed end up in whatever worlds YOU have planned. If my world is going to be implemented, would it not be fair that we come to an arguementive accepted agreement we can both like, should it come up? That seems more respectful.

As your OP states, there is no linear plot and the GM follows PLAYER lead.

Sorry, I didn't write what I mean clearly. I won't touch his plot or attempt to NPC any of the other characters mentioned in his backstory, and I have no intention of taking the RP to his world. That is totally yours and off-limits. I'm only talking about technicalities. :)

NAME: Product # 31773 "Ellie"

ABSTRACT: Glitchy android running on dreams.

DETAIL: "Ellie" is one of many in the first line of magic service androids on a far off star-liner which had taken off from the planet of crystals and commune "Renteria". Her functions are many and she has been made to be durable and to lift weights many times heavier then herself. While she would usually be a docile and calm creature, wanting only to attend to her guests, her personality seems to have taken a wrong turn somewhere, and she can more so be considered a starry eyed child in the metal body of a young adult, who cares not of morals and only of adventure. She has not parted completely of her original purpose, and has a need to be needed. If she is left to her own she suffers, unsure and afraid of what to be doing. She is most comfortable when she is given simple tasks, to do at her own liberty. An example of this is if she were given the order "stop that bell tower from ringing" and decided to blow up the tower base.

She had worked in proper service for nearly 42 years before her mental shift, and is still unknown as to why she has changed. She was given the name Ellie by the young son of the first family in her care. Her serial number when looked at upside down seems to spell out such a name.

She is created to look just like a native Rentarian, and thus she is pale in complexion, with faded purple hair. She has a sharp nose and a heart shaped face. A simple and serviceable smile is what can usually be found on her face, just bellow her spray of freckles across her nose. She has the Rentarian parted ears, almost as if she had for instead of two. They are long and elf like. Her uniform is a standard "Ashefield" Star-liner outfit, with black pants, a deep blue jacket with an ascot, and golden trimmings and cuff. It has become tattered in her misadventures.

While products in her line are made to look as natural as possible, some lines can be seen where two panels connect. The most obvious are at joints, and at two straight lines under the androids eyes.

Powered by a nicknamed "heart crystal" these beings run on magic energy, that can recharge themselves if there is enough magic in the air. They can run for three earth days before needed such a recharge.

Question for everyone: what do you think of maybe using titles at the beginning of posts to more easily identify each other? Especially since deadpixel will be playing two characters, having character name headers would be beneficial, I think.

Even just [h3]Character Name[/h3] at the top of posts would be super helpful. What do you all think?
