I can't leave for a damn day...

Also, I haven't seen 8-bit theatre in ages.

Also, to break armor, you would probably use a halfsword method as European blades weren't all too sharp.

Eh, it's not meant to be that realistic in terms of combat anyway. It's a magical sword that lights on divine solar fire used by a member of the clergy for a Sun Goddess who has a palace on the surface of the sun where all her good worshippers go after they die.

Basically it's more "what's cool-looking and fun to write". ^^;

So. How does healing magic work on the zombie dude? Or is it just: hand falls off, suture it back?

Due to how sapient undead work, if something's cut off it needs to be fixed properly back in place, but it will heal on its own. So, say, chop off his leg, if it's put back in place for about a day through suturing or whatever it will reattach.

Decapitation's always death for them, though.

Also, expect an IC either today or tomorrow, ideally.

Why not just sew their heads back on to start with?

Because it kills them. Decapitation is still death for them no matter what.

I mean, the mana core is still intact and that's what makes them alive. And apparently it's magic enough to heal limbs or overcome the brain being rotted. I'd assume if you sew the head back on he'd come back alive on his own.

The brain isn't rotted, I mention how they need to be very recently dead in order to become sapient undead. Decay has to be, at most, at a microscopic level.

It's no different then most vampire mythology, or Highlander.

Why does bodily damage matter if the whole thing is powered by a mana core? Usually with these things, you'd kill the creature by smashing the mana core. Decapitation makes sense when there's not an obvious battery. And with vampires it's actually usually staking them through the heart.
Is the mana core kept in the neck? Because if it is, that's a really bad design choice. The skull and ribcage are comparatively much safer, since they wrap their organs in a layer of bone. That's why vital organs are kept there.

Are vampires in this? Do vampires also run on a mana core since they'd be a sapient undead? Who would intentionally design a creature like that? Why does their mana core run on blood and others don't?
Does vampirism still spread by biting, or would the vampire have to create and implant an entirely new mana core? And if it's the former, how does a bite create a new mana core?

If undead can still feel pain, can't be rotted, can't die of blood loss, are immortal, and can reattach limbs with no problem, mana cores sound more like an easy route to immortality and have virtually no downsides. Like seriously, there's nothing bad listed about being undead in this setting.
In that case, why isn't it a common procedure to have a mana core implanted upon reaching adulthood?

The mana core is just in place of their "life force". I dislike using that term but that's what it is. The "immortal being regenerates unless you behead it" thing is in multiple versions of vampire myths(some as extreme as staking them in the heart, beheading them, and burning them). The mana core cannot overcome a beheading because it's instant death, but like a vast majority of other things that feature beheading as the one weakness to something. Totally obliterating the body would also work, but with how unlikely it is for that to come up I didn't mention it.

Vampires are not in this, I used them as an example of something from mythology that, as one version of its one weakness, must be decapitated. After all, some versions just have the stake holding them down instead of actually killing them. If vampires were actually in this they would work differently than sapient undead, but they are not.

You also have to die and be properly resurrected very recently to be a sapient undead. There are paths to longer lifespans that do not in fact involve dying and needing proper spells applied to you that are only going to be known by necromancers who are not well-liked at all. Creation of sapient undead is not reliable.

I'm going to be frank and ask you why you're still in this RP if the setting causes so many problems for you. You've nitpicked at nearly every decision I've made in regards to the lore and consistently started excessive arguments that are quite frankly wearing very thin on my patience. I've tried to be very civil and every time an argument ends you find a new thing to pick at.

I don't mind questions. It's just that each so far has spiraled out of control and gotten rather pendantic when this is meant to be fun and placed in a world that's definitely not our own.

I will also clarify that creating sapient undead is a very unreliable process and that the most common source of them is necromancers who have murdered someone to create an undead slave who is still intelligent, using binding magic to force their obedience.

  • Name: Ruins of Hauhazberg, the Mines of the Mountain Witch.
  • Brief History: A recent 'dungeon', nobody's quite sure what's happened... only that a remote mining town was, several years ago, razed in a single night, with the survivors only mentioning that the conflagration came from apparently nowhere. More recently, undead have been noticed, but the place is so out of the way that few have investigated
  • Layout Summary: The burnt-out shell of a town, with a path leading up to the mines that used to provide its wealth. The mines themselves are old and quite expansive, but the tunnels were built along neat, geometric lines, keeping to them when finished following a seam.
  • Threats: The ruins themselves are crawling with undead, though many are burnt and altogether nonthreatening. The mines themselves are quite heavily protected by magic, with several barriers and wards around, and a few magical traps. There's fewer undead here, but they're generally much more intact than down in the town, and properly armed for conflict. Then there's the person behind all this...

Sorry, I've been busy today and it slipped my mind. Let me review the bio.

Edit: @Boomrocker: Okay, he really is quite different, but I'm almost worried he's not really fitting the description for a Mayonite Paladin. The tower shield is kind of their thing.

Also, this may be a bit harder for Mayon, but paladins as per this setting often possess Church-only enchantments. For example, Reon's Divine Solar fire that suffuses Repharion in response to the righteous fury of is wielder(I need to edit her bio, I forgot this detail wasn't actually in it as I've written it elsewhere).

Since he's a Mayonite Paladin, perhaps something more defensive.

I suggested a heater shield because a tower shield is far too cumbersome for a dungeon environment. A warrior, regardless if they are paladin of an order or not, needs to be able to adapt to their environment. Hence, heater shield.

Mayonite Paladins use water, which is very difficult to suffuse into anything effectively. I would recommend changing it away from water, and to something useful, like lightning.

EDIT: Or, keeping with the water theme, ice. An icy spear works well and possesses the duality of the flaming sword.
