Province Name: Name of your liege: Position: South-west, not touching the Capital Province at all, Instead other provinces cut it off as if to protect the capital from it. It has massive coastline due to the cape it has as well as the gulf just south of said cape.
Specialty: Yenin is home to merchants of all shapes and sizes, selling a wide variety of wares to the Nobles of the province. While that is the speciality other provinces see, the general population of Yenin knows that most of the residents are theives or crime lords, forced into this life by the extreme debt the province is in as well as the huge taxes that Godreik imposed.
History: Over 100 years ago, Yenin was a different country from Emperiat named Yesini. Yesini was a generally rich country that rivaled the wealth of Emperiat, and as such, the countrys were constantly at eachother's throats.
Approxamately 114 years ago, the king of Yesini made a threat to invade Emperiat, which the larger country did not take lightly. The military quickly invaded the smaller country, crushing its people in their wake and reaching the capital in a mere 2 days. The next day, the general who led the charge snuck into it's castle and assinated their king. When the war was over Harold Grennin, the general, was appointed Lord of this newly aquired land.
He quickly assembled massive amounts of guards from the Capital from fear of a rebellion, and once his military presence was established, he began to appoint advisors and such to back him. The province never really recovered from the war, and as time went on, the gap between rich and poor began to grow. The Capital of the province teemed with merchants and Nobility, where as the other cities and towns were littered with thieves and assassins.
Around 50 years ago, in Harold's old age he appointed his son, Dunken Grennin, as Lord of the province. Dunken fired his father's advisor and appointed his closest friend, Daniel Halore, to that position. Daniel began to plan something big he called "The Arena", which was supposed to bring more money to the province and fix it's dying economy.
17 years later, his plans were complete and the structure built. It had huge seating areas and 2 underground sections opposite each other which each were filled with different types of weapons and armor. When it first opened, no contestants offered themselves as entertainment for the masses, but not long after, Daniel hatched a plan. He abducted men from their homes by convincing everyone, including Dunken, that they were part of a group with plans to assassinate Dunken, then forced the men to kill each other in the arena for money and a right to be free to the last man standing. After that day, all criminals would be sent to the Arena in place of prison, with the winner of each tournament being set free.
When Dunken reached age 59 around 11 years ago, his son-in-law, Godreik Grenin, killed him from fear that he would keep his place until he died. He pushed the death onto a small crime syndicate - that he used to be in - located just outside the capitol and was awarded the title of Lord when he single-handedly brought them to "justice". Greedy as the man was, he increased the taxes far beyond the nessesary amount and made the Arena more of a tradition than ever.
