He doesn't preach, he's just an detective who prefers to solve mysteries involving the occult, who also happens to have very weird powers lol. If Light wants to join in on solving a mystery then Gill won't mind, a Sherlock Holmes always needs a Watson.

@SilverDawn Well... this is one interesting character. Weird but interesting. I'm a taddy bit skeptical on the whole 'impervious to all psychical attacks', but considering he is a 'poor' villain, I think I'll accept him as is lol. Post him in the CS and delete the one here in the OCC.
