As the fairies closed in on Ava, she kept descending into the hole. The crevice grew smaller, but luckily for Ava there was a crevice just as small leading back up to the surface. Ava used her daggers to help her climb faster and she purposely kicked rocks down to hopefully make it harder for the fairies to follow her. Ava then reached the surface in no time. With quick thinking, she covered the crevice with a decent sized stone that used the last bit of her stamina. "I'm not gonna be that easy." She said, breathing heavily.
Kieran huffed and stepped back, scrutinizing the front of the door. He ignored the beings around him even as they drew closer. "what is it that you expected from me then hmm?" he slowly walked around the door and examined it from the back and looked closer at the lock. 'is this thing trying to test my wit or my power' he thought to himself
You enter the cave and follow a path down. The rocks around you glisten as you walk their so intriguing it's as if their guiding you down the cave. You inspect one and you feel like you're flying, because there isn't a floor below you. You look up, there's no cave above you, but there is a light ahead of you. You follow it to three different doors. One is a light wood with white a tint, the middle one is a grayish colour and the final one is a dark broken door.
/Sol You find yourself lost in the cave, there is a door between you and your exit - or so you thought. Once you open it up you are in a round open room with stalagmites on the ceiling. The door you opened had disappeared, there was another door, which on the other side you could hear the familiar voice of (@Zetsuko) Kieran on the other side. You had the feeling that only one of you would leave the room, which meant a duel.
You enter a room and see a woman stood in front of you. She smiles at you and seems to make you very nervous. "Hello, my name is Belle. I am your test today." With that she was in front of Kenny with ease, if he blink'd he would of missed it. She kicks Kenny's side sending him flying. "By the way, you can't hit me with kicks or punches or swords, well you can but it won't work on me."
You follow the long cave down, before reaching a skeleton which seemed to be older than the cave itself. You don't take much notice of it and continue walking, until it wraps it's long tendrils produced from it's hands around your calf. It begins to cast a spell on you, before break through. It was a Lich, it had to be. This was your test, it's bones contorted to smile and talk. "Now boy, you have allowed be to cast Chilling Death, so if you try to combat me with magic you will slowly freeze to death, so kill me fast or let me kill either way it's not good for you." This was your test.
@JELDare Kenney was sent hurdling through the air seconds into his first test. Although he was trained to shoot and fire in many positions so if needed be he could stay on his feet and keep firing. "That's perfect! Lucky for you none of those are my specialty!" He replied to the women unsheathing his twin dessert eagles firing at her without hesitation as he descended to the grown coming to a roll as he landed. He then broke off into a sprint circling the woman keeping his distance and firing when he seemed fit or when he seen any type of movement out of the Belle. Although when he entered she did present a crazy amount of speed so he paid really close attention to her to be safe when she decides to make a move.
Ephilates smiled as he was grabbed from the back and he felt the curse. It just had to be an annoying Lich.. Luckily he did not use Magic, only manipulating auras which wasn't magic. He then Opened his mouth to speak. "Well Luckily for you I don't use magic... Hmph.." He knew that there was something else here so he had been prepared for it. He had been charging up his aura slowly, and it was charged up enough to release half of it in a small explosion aimed specifically at the Lich. Ephilates was lucky, since Apollo wasn't in control he was able to do this much. If Apollo had been in control then he would have lost already.
As Ephilates released Half of the charged Aura he began to move away from the Skeleton's clutches quickly. He then looked back at the Lich. "Well you are lucky that you are fighting against me, For if it were Apollo who was fighting, You would have won already... In other news, you are against me..' Ephilates then began to move fast, as in extremely, behind him. He then asked him a question. "So the whole point of this test is to try to defeat you before I freeze to death if I use any magic, Honestly you should have done some research on me, on all of us, before even trying to test us." Of course by us, he meant him and Apollo.
Chen made it to the doors and smiled. "Ooh, a test of luck! Eenie meeni minie, I choose this one." He threw open the middle door with a smile and adrenaline pumping through his veins.
"Nova Terra, You deal with the raw form of mana itself? Interesting," The voice commented as she walked through the cave. It opened into a forest with sort of golem in the middle of a clearing. The golem stood about 8 feet tall and was rather ominous looking, it seemed to be compromised of mostly dirt. The voice once again rang out from seemingly everyone at once, "Your exam will simply be to do your best to try to defeat it." If Nova had keen enough eyes or senses she would detect that there wasn't anything living within 5 meters of the golem, as it stood up and began slowly stomping towards her she could feel the mana in the area slowly being sapped into the Golem.
Slowly watching as the Golem make its way towards me, I noticed that Mana in the area, was beginning to disappear. "Great, I have a smelly dirt Golem coming towards me, and I can't use my powers!" mumbling to myself, not noticing that the golem was close enough to slam its big arms into the ground, with me dodging it somehow, hurting my leg. "Man! that was a close one....." stopping myself and dodging another attack, trying to get away from the Big giant. running around the golem, noting that the golem had a small red gem on it's back. a white faint light glow showing that the Mana was being slowly sapped into the Golem. "so that's the weak spot, I hope" saying, not wanting to miss this chance, i masted up all the power i had inside myself, making myself a little dizzy. while the golem's back was facing towards me for the moment, I turned my power into a small spear, throwing the spear into the center of the gem, breaking the gem a little bit, not enough to take down the golem, but to make it angry. "oh no!" i said, running away from the golem.
@Eklispe Arcadius smirked, it appeared even the taskmasters under-estimated his physical ability. With a wave of his hand and a lowly mumbled chant his Grimorie poofed out of exsistance. He took his robe off and neatly folded it and placed it on a bench. Underneath he had on a white sleeveless tunic and baggy pants. He had a slim muscular athletic build. After doing a few stretches he was ready. "Shot-put first." He told the 'Coach'. He picked up the ball, eight pounds, light as a feather compared to his Grimorie. He set up alongside a few of the 'extras' tossing theirs, some landing pitifully at their feet. He chuckled lowly, "Very nice of the school to under-estimate me once again." He spoke.
He'd never really tried shot-put before, but it looked as simple as an over handed push. He shrugged and tossed the ball, of which was sent hurdling through the air. Thank you for making the Grimorie so heavy.. he thought to himself. He simply stood, watching the hunk of metal fly.
"While I'm sure this is fascinating remember that part of the exam is time based so you might want to get I move on." the disembodied voice said dryly, one of the randomly generated rocks rolling towards her as if to emphasize his point. Meanwhile the storming conditions seemed to get more fierce and the ground was quickly turning to a cesspool of mud and slime.Reference Post
The golem turning to face you causing the spear thrown to deal even less merely skimming of the surface of the gem. Whats more as the spear flew the mana holding it together partly unraveling cause it to simply break apart into little dirt clods on impact. "Haha..." the Golem chuckled in a deep voice. The gem in its back glowed and it put one hand one the ground and brought it up, with it came a massive boulder of earth, the size of about a 2 porta-potties. The Golem did the next obvious thing, and simply hurled it at the young girl.
"ARE YOU DONE YET 'MAGI'? CAUSE I'M PRETTY SURE I SAID THREE EVENTS NOT ONE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU THROW IT A MEASLY DISTANCE LIKE THAT! SO GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR AND GET DONE WITH YOUR OTHER EVENTS! THIS IS A TRACK MEET NOT A PICNIC!" The coach screamed loudly, as he yelled the sky get darker, clouds appeared almost instantly, and it began raining. Thunder boomed and a fierce wind kicked up, it seemed his other two events might not be so easy. Clearly his coach wasn't impressed. Reference Post.
The wall’s mouth slowly turned into a smirk and it talked slowly and knowingly. “I’ve been doing this for many… many… years. Since before you existed and I will do so after you are done existing and countless other have tried the very same thing…” The room then began shrinking, everything becoming smaller and smaller, in less than a minute Max would be crushed by the closing room. As the walls closed in the old voice mummered softly, “Ehehehe…”
"Oh very interesting, that looks painful." The feminine voice says eagerly, you can barely hear a quill scribbling in the distance."It seems you have an easier time making modifications, and full body transformations are more difficult...". The modifications he made proved to allow him to both traverse the track and make it through the flames unharmed, for the most part, his hair was a little scorched here and there. As he made it through the fire he heard a immensely loud, CLANG as a guillotine blade slammed down mere inches from his face. It seemed there was line of 3 or so of the blades each rhythmically slamming down one after the other. His current form likely wouldn't be fast enough to pass through all of them. There was enough of a gap for Charles to fit between the first and the second, but not the second and the third. If he had the foresight to look ahead it seemed there was a section of the track with a metal plate over it past the blades that he could stand on and take a brief rest if he needed to.
Sol looked around curiously, he was surprised that he heard the voice of another student so close to him. He figured the trials were more of an individual thing. Still he grabbed his sword and leaned against a wall, causally waiting for the only door in the room to open as he evaluated the area he would most likely be fighting in. It seemed they wanted to see some student fight, well this should be fun. He had been looking forward to a spar anyway.
@Eklispe (Holy..... sorry it's so much!!! it just kept coming!) He would be surprised and then groan at how there is more... he was glad there was no more oil for the moment sense it was all behind him, the fire helped make sure of that... though if he didn't want to deal with a burning track he'd have to hurry, it wouldn't be long if the track behind and in front of the fire are connected for the fire burning oiled track on the bottom to find it's way over. he knew with such small room he wouldn't be able to get enough speed up to run past the blades, nor stop between them and still have enough to get past the next one. he'd groan again "really...." he knew he would have to try another full body modification... he no longer needed the scales, but he needed something strong and hard that wont break or be sliced under the weight of a big blade... he also tried to look in the air above the metal plate ahead to see if it was really a spot he could rest if he found a way through or simply a trap.
He'd groan at his body, it ached all over pain shooting through it from the amount of modifications he had to make for this test... the endless moving also didn't help. he would try to focus thinking of good material... then something clicks in his head "wait... i don't need something to defend against the blade... because.... yes.. i can simply break it or go through the gap it makes after it lands before it starts to go up... for it goes a lot slower trying to go to it's original spot than it does coming down.. meaning less force against me.." he says rubbing his chin he looked at the method the blades made to go back up to get enough force in order to slice most objects apart.
He knew most things had a weight limit, so what would happen if he exceeded that.. the track could possible slow, halt, or break entirely because of the weight.. he could also use it to short circuit the machines that keep moving the blades by putting the weight on them after they come down, that way he would simply have to lift and pass by or go over. he would start increasing the density of his body increasing how heavy he is, almost like he was changing simply the weight of his body from that of a small human, to something a lot, a lot bigger without actually turning into it. deciding to keep the scales he has to offer him protection, for dragon scales are very durable. as well as increasing his muscles and strength of his bones, so he could accomplish the task after his body became heavy enough he groaned the spider legs straining on the pressure made from it sense he wasn't increasing their density, for he was about to get rid of them. he barely holds himself up long enough for his body to adjust to a semi-appropriate number and then the legs would give and his body would drop on the track with more force than the blades. he would he panting extremely hard, stars in his vision, about to pass out from the strain it took, the spider legs shrinking into his back, recalling that change he made.
He would use this chance to rest slightly before grabbing onto the top of the first blade after it comes down to also shift his weight on it to stop it from moving, or breaking the Mechanism from lifting it anymore.. then he would proceed past it by lifting it up and moving under it letting it drop behind him, or climbing over it, he would repeat this process with each blade as he went, taking as much time as he could in hopes to regain some of his breath.
He groans at not having much time and immediately began trying to get past the blades trying to keep up as the first blade came down before latching on and holding his weight down onto it, taking a deep breath sense holding onto the blade would give him something to hold him in place for a few moments, his weight hopefully stopping the blade from moving or breaking it's mechanism to move. before he would move on to repeat this process to get past the blades
Meruin looked up from her euphoria induced gaze, only now did she truly realize that this was her exam, and should she fail it, her standing at the academy would decrease - personally, Meruin cared little for that, however, she was here on Master Reina's recommendation, moreover, she was carrying her name as her disciple. To be anything less than exemplary would be an unforgivable transgression on her masters name.
"In light of that, it's time I begin this trial in earnest."
As the boulder rapidly approached Meruin, the small mage began chanting under her breath.
Intoning one spell after another, the boulder was just about to smash into Meruin when her small hands lifted upwards, touching it as it fell. As soon as her hands touched it, it latched on and both the boulder and Meruin beneath it shot upwards, going the same way it came. Around the boulder itself were several barriers which, in addition to its massive size and durability, aided Meruin in shielding herself against any more incoming debris, and even a few lightning bolts.
Meruin was approaching the top of the plateau, and should nothing hinder her, she arrive there soon.
The babble of voices that came from the pixies died down as Ava reached the top. As soon as she closed it, the Pixies all began shouting in unison, their voices expressing outrage and disbelief. Once the hole was closed, the noise died down.
Unfortunately for Ava, that was not to be the end of it.
Underneath the enclosure, the Pixies began pushing and pushing, the strength of the thousands of small creatures rapidly inching away the blockade of stone. Even worse, was that underneath it, as the Pixies underneath it poured energy into moving the stone out, their bodies, seemingly responding to their fervor, began lighting up in flames. Flames licked out of the small crevices that the stone could not cover, and the stone itself began heating up quickly.
Ava was now in a completely enclosed area. There were no other exits other than the one she came through, and certainly no other holes either. The chamber she was currently trapped in had pillars made of stalagmite so tall they reached the roof of the old cavern.
There was no one who answered Agni's accusations, no sudden vision or voice that provided redoubtable proof that the Cruz Meister in front of him was indeed the one that was described; the future ruler of the Technomages, and then, the World. A murderer and yet a hero; someone who Agni could not possible allow exist - but that was also a question of which Agni could not allow his existence. Whatever the case may be, the voice did not respond to Agni.
It might have been better, had it done so.
Crus Magus groggily shook his head, as if the boy had awoken from a long slumber. The drowsy boy staggered in place as he tried to gain his footing. As soon as consciousness came about, he looked around . . .
"Where am I? What happe-!"
. . . and his eyes narrowed as he caught sight of Agni standing before him.
"Agni!" he hissed. The boy drew backwards, his empty hands spreading to his sides and gripping the air tightly as energy coalesced around them. "So you're responsible for this!"
At once, a pair of armaments assembled on his hands. The pistols he now gripped in both hands were large blasters, bigger than usual. Both were cobalt blue and on the side of each pistol was engraved, using precise machine branding: Life Hacker.
"Me and father had wondered where you had gone. We theorized that the death of your father had driven you and the rest of your family into hiding, but mother insisted that there was no way you were that weak-willed; I suppose it was our fault for not believing her," he said seriously, leveling his guns towards Agni. "It seems you've somehow managed to abduct me from the Fortress. Whatever method you used, I will admit that it was brilliant, given that it had come without any warning and somehow bypassed our defensive enchantments and systems. Still, don't think that you'll find me an easy opponent!"
Cruz fired his pistols, and a waves of blue shot forward in wide arcs. The areas that it touched changed in form, suddenly looking less real, and more akin to data on a computer. This was the effect of the "Life Hacker" pistols - weapons that, asides from being a conduit for Technomages to cast spells, were capable of altering landscape to one that suited a Technomages needs.
"If you insist on standing in the way of the revival of my people's greatness, then by all means Agni, let's end this!"
Cruz once more leveled the gun, and this time, a necklace he was wearing began creating the calculations needed for his next spell.
The Golden Titan barreled unrelentingly towards Aleksandra. The Silver Titan had risen to its full height and seemed to realize that there was an intruder on their duel. It's metal face twisted in anger, and a hollow, reverberating cry echoed through the stadium. Both of them reached Aleksandra at the same time, and the Golden Titan's arm shot forward to grab her. Even as it Aleksanrda's flames grew brighter, the Golden Titan didn't seem the least bit bothered by it, even though there were signs of its hand slightly distorting from the heat.
The Golem wordlessly answered Azrael's charge with it's own, it's gorilla like arms shoving it forward at surprising speed. Upon seeing Azrael gather stone and earth around him, however, the Golem suddenly slowed its charge, before stopping completely. It shivered in place slightly, then, a suddenly as it stopped, it shot forward again.
As it did, the strange black metal that had made up its body broke apart, and revealed a huge body of water underneath. What was once a golem shaped like a gorilla had now become a serpent made of rapidly gushing water. It moved faster than it did before, and in a split second, was about to ram into Azrael, and given the distance and the speed they were both going, it was unlikely that he could dodge.
"I'll have you know that there's only one being in this whole room that has the ability to open this door."
Fo was staring with mild interest at Kieran. Whether this was because of his blase attitude to the creatures around him, or the way he went about the task of opening the door, she didn't say. In any case, the small fairy fluttered off of the door knob and gestured around her.
"This room was designed with the simple concept of 'lock' and 'key'; somewhere out there, is the key. There, a hint - now all you have to do is find it!" she explained cheerily.
Din looked on impassively as Agatha slowly drifted off into a weak slumber. The Copper Man looked up at the gear covered sky and spoke; "Don't patronize yourself, Miss Pendragon. You are far from being beautiful in my eyes - steel that rusts before its time without nary an effort to fight the decay is unnatural, ugly. Death is lovely because of the struggle it pulls from life. Be glad that the gauntlet prevents you from dying permanently, else I truly would have let one such as you rot."
Rising to his feet, Din walked towards Agatha, his body making strange, hollow clanking sounds with each step. As soon as he got close to the girl, Din dug his foot into Agatha's stomach with a light shove - enough for pain to register.
"Get up. The test isn't over. You said 'you have to have the opposite of something to enjoy something'; prove it to me, then. Show me I can enjoy decay with life as well."
Azrael grinned widely when the golem changed into a water formed snake. That was the answer! This creature was thrumming with impressive Elemental magic, seeming to change to best fit the scenario at hand. This was fortunate for Azrael, because he had the perfect magic to counter water. In wordless scream, the rocky armor exploded outward. Azrael's body was suddenly covered in electrical charge, his eyes practically glowing from the power as he activated his Lightning element. The increase speed and agility seemed to slow the world for a few crucial moments and deal with this snake's impressive speed
Azrael changed his course, spinning around the serpent's gaping maw, then plunging the blade into its side. He had felt the wind coming from the serpent's force and counted himself lucky that he had trained so extensively that in only took a moment of concentration to unleash a new element. He let out a strong burst of lightning, sending the current through the creature's liquid body. Through the currents and eddies of water, Azrael thought he saw the core he was supposed to retrieve, although its appearance was disfigured by the refraction of the water.
The hostility was so sudden that he only had time to react and evade the shooting. "S-Stop this, Cruz! I'm not the one who brought you here! I don't even know how I ended here!", he spoke, nervous. After that, he saw Life Hacker's bullets change the enviroment. Flare already saw how it works, so it was a little reassuring. Even so, it didn't made Flare more calm. "I don't even know what's happening! I... the me who you're seeing is from another time! I'm not the Agni from your time! I would never abandon you!", he said.
He started to panic as the walls closed in but he was confident that his plan would work, after all confidence was one of his stronger suites. He severly hoped his magic would be drained before he suffocated. He closed his eyes snd starrted to breath slowly. In and Out. In and Out.
Ava was obviously running out of options. She was surrounded by Pixies and she had to think quickly. She noticed the stalagmite pillars. "Well, it's my only chance," She said to herself, running towards the pillars. She jumped and kicked off of one in hopes to knock it down, as she kicked off of it, she did the same to the one beside it. She then landed and ran back towards the Pixies, sliding under them and back into the whole she just climbed up. She fell through and hit against the rocks on her way down. As Ava landed, her back ht the hard stone ground, making her yell in pain.
Kieran grunted and turned his back to the door and the fairy looking around at the darkness and the creatures, paying particular attention to the latter. If there's one being that acts as the key to open the door perhaps it's one of them, if so maybe one stood out from the rest in some way.
Agatha looked up at Din and smiled. "Din, when you are right, you are right. I am as repulsive to you as you are to me as a mate but yet we could be friends." She stood up tall and proud after she had brushed her clothes off. "Now look at this decaying plants.... these dead leaves over here... Let's pile them up here and then mixed them together really well. All it needs is a bit of time.... a bit water.... and guess what? You have what is a good compost. Good rich soil that is just right to plant the seeds that these poor dying flowers have produced at the end of their lives. And over here is a fungus! Such a delicacy and delight to people who like the mushrooms- it is obvious I don't care for them. " Agatha had made a compost pile then planted the seeds in it.
"Come over here, Din! In this soil, if one is to dug a short ways.... yes! A delicacy fit for a King. So where there is death, there is also Life. The never ending circle of Life. I now understand what I was being taught. Everything must die so another may live. What do you think of that, Din?" Agatha turned to the nut and bolts man.
Arcadius grimaced, he didn't think he did THAT bad. Oh well. Next he'd do the 100 meter hurdle run, in theory it should be easy enough, in practice however he wasn't that good at jumping.
He set up on the blocks, as soon as the signal pistol was fired he set off. He toppled the first few hurdles, well..most of the first hurdles. He got the hang of it midway however, he didn't like the feel of the atmosphere as he continued down the track however. Something felt...off..he couldn't quite figure out what.
@TheHangedMan As soon as the golden titan picked Aleksandra up and the heat started to affect it's hand she started to condense the heat onto one area just behind its wrist. The temperature spiked in that area but moved away from Aleksandra as she attempted to take the hand off "I'm glad it was he gold one" she thought to herself then winced the grip that the titan had on her. As she did this Aleksandra also started to push on the hand trying to loosen the grip the titan had but not enough for her to fall.
"did you just laugh at me" just as she was about to finish her sentence, she notice that the golem started to pick up a massive boulder. The Golem did the next obvious thing, and simply hurled it. "oh you got to be...." running away from the boulder, getting enough room to dodge the thing, she faintly dodged the attack, only to hit a tree, knocking the wind from under her. "ou..ch............!!" gasping for air, while not waiting to get back her air, she run away making a little bit distance from her and the golem. she noticed a small waterfall, she quickly ran to the water, absorbing the water Mana, healing the injury.
