Yeah, or El Sasquatcho's? I thought we had a plan in the works, here.

Forgot to mention the sprinklers being on, should I edit that part into my post? A good deal of the ceilings have been destroyed, so any sprinklers still activated would be on parts of the building on the outer edge of the area. When I was looking at what could harm owls, bright lights and rain didn't seem to slow them down, but loud noises can knock them off balance.

EDIT: Nevermind, it wasn't hard to work in that the sprinklers were on and the inside of the place was wet.

I didn't mention Ves at all really, figured you guys had that bit under control for the time being. She doesn't really talk as a Talon so you don't have to worry about that. I didn't want to have her killing dozens of rats for effect or anything, can't even imagine the germs and diseases a portion of them could be carrying. A collab between a couple of you guys would probably work the best.

So till WW and Levi get there, you guys tag-team the Amazon. Wildcat's mostly worried about the Man Owls still thrashing the building and surrounding areas. And I'd say any creatures taken down early on are getting back up....

So our attacks basically did nothing? Feels awesome being totally useless. And yay, saved by the League... again. I'm starting to sense a pattern here. Team gets wrecked, can't do a damn thing for itself so the League sends someone to yank our asses out of the fire.

I didn't say they did anything or not, that's still up to you guys. Wildcat just ordered Nightlife to scream and for somebody to turn the music up louder to disorient the creatures. I see the pattern though, and it's deliberate in that the team is loosely inspired by some of the things from the Young Justice cartoon. The League won't be assisting us in the future though we will meet them, but a team-up or two with Batman himself is eventually going to happen. Remember we're just taking care of Gotham while Batman's busy with being Bruce Wayne by day and a Justice Leaguer so many days out of the week. To change the pace we might take a road trip out of Gotham to another player's home town some time after the Court's been defeated and face an enemy not associated with Batman's corner of the universe.

@Weird Tales That was kind of my thing as well. Gym is wet, sure, but the owls had no response to the condition Zero put them in. Oh well, I've posted my response and in the interest of it leading to a character arc I don't mind leaving things as is on my end.

@Weird Tales@Double@The Kid Lantern@Sigil

I'm weighing in both as the outsider looking in with only a single post, but also as someone who has known lantern for years. Hell, I remember congratulating him on his son being born.

Kid, I completely understand your wanting to keep the action intense and the pressure on, we appreciate that. You can either have a few strong opponents or lots of weak ones. Let us take them out a wave at a time, let our stupid plans work once but not over and over. If we have waves of hard opponents, our characters are not good enough yet to handle it, ESPECIALLY with a Talon as well. Let our actions have meaning to take them out by the dozens and simply have more take their place. You are acting to our actions, not reacting to our actions. it seems inane, but its like the video game where you can not see the enemy health bar or any damage above their head, we as players have no way to gauge if we are being effective or not. Yes, you gave us a huge hint in turning up the noise to disorient them, then they should be acting disoriented.

Just me and only me, I'd day freeze them all who are covered in water and shatter them with the sonic scream.

At this point in time, I intend to complete the scene and politely back out of the RP.

I've had a great deal of amusement interacting with the other characters, which have been original (or excellent takes on existing) and entertaining. My difficulty lies in the fact that we have zero impact on the events unfolding. The fights scenes are static; our presence in them has no effect on the outcome. We had a plan in play, it was ignored.

Rat Boy kept the attack ongoing against Ves. maybe the rats couldn't hurt her directly, but it's a hell of a distraction.

Zero came up with an excellent plan on the spot designed to take out a chunk of the attacking army all at once, that in my opinion shouldn't have done absolutely nothing.

El Sasquatcho has been playing a psychological game from the start, not to mention hurling an Owlman at Ves and charging after it.

It appears that our benevolent GM is involved with a number of RPs, possibly enough to stretch himself too thin. If this is the case, I'd be more than willing to step up my Co-GMness and take over the combat sequences here. I'm actually not bad, listen to feedback, and don't promote my characters to the detriment of other players'. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a total Virginia Smoked Ham with it, but everybody gets a slice. On the other hand, if this is Standard Operating Procedure, there's little reason for me to have the Co ribbon.

It's a shame, I really like writing for El Sasquatcho. He's a damned colorful character and I hope I get to use him another time. Provided he survives (and he should, he's a very lucky guy), he's going to get Zero to a hospital, hop in his El Camino, and drive far away from Gotham on his original mission.

Boy... where to start? If anybody feels like their posts were ignored, that was not my intent. I had two things I generally wanted to get done to keep things moving forward on my end, and that's to get Wildcat back to HQ and Levi on his way back after being punched/thrown to the Gotham harbor. Earlier today I had just enough time to get that post in before going into what currently passes for my job. I put bits into the post, as well as went back in and added some details immediately brought to my attention. I didn't have time enough to write an Advanced level post and respond to every single detail. I'm human. Sometimes shit happens. Four players are currently in battle with the Amazon Talon and the Man Owl creatures in the vicinity of the gym/HQ. One of which is the Co-GM.

@Sigil I've said time and again, move this forward in any way you can. Luck is literally in your guy's power set. If 'Squatch is going to act like a leader, then have him lead. I haven't had a problem with it up to this point, it's been one of the most interesting parts of the RP. You don't need to wait for a detailed response from me, you're the Co-GM because I trust you and know you won't do anything completely random or out of left field. As the situation was, I didn't have a character on scene to act as leader and respond or help, but that's why Wildcat got to base in my last post. If you wanna leave after this arc that's your decision, I appreciate what you've done to help keep the game rolling this far and you will be greatly missed.

@Weird Tales If you read above, 'doesn't really talk' isn't me saying 'doesn't talk at all.' If you want a specific response, then write it. I'm going on what I know of the comics, and in those stories the Talons barely spoke. I also shouldn't have to remind you she's an Amazon, you know the rats won't hurt her but is she gonna hurt Rat Boy afterwards? Generally I only let villains severely beat on drop-outs, if you want Chester to take a beating then have at it.

@Double Your character has already taken on a kill or be killed mentality once when he shanked a poor holo-droid. If you want to do something like freeze the Man Owls solid and shatter them it's completely within reason and something I could see the character doing under the stressful circumstances. There's plenty of Man Owls to go around for the time being. As I said above, I didn't have a character on scene to tell you 'good job, do this or that.." When I got Wildcat to the scene he reacted to what he knew would work in this type of situation, which is loud noise. I didn't have time to tell every player specifics on what their characters should be doing.

@knighthawk Holy shit I've been on this forum for awhile now. I didn't realize I've known you for that long. You gave me some perspective, and I greatly appreciate it. Now get your boy to the gym to crack some Man Owl skulls!

@rocketrobie2 You didn't chime in, but if you've got any cards go ahead and let's get them on the table. I figure if I'm @ tagging everyone else I can't forget you LOL

______________________________________

I said this once before in another RP I'm sure, but as a GM I have to pick and choose what to use to move forward with. Some characters early on weren't even mentioned further as the game progressed, others I wrote out to keep some form of continuity. I can give you something to go on, sure, but I can't RP your characters for you. If you have an actual question, then ask it. If I'm not around then ask the Co-GM who has put himself out there a time or two now. At this point all I could've done different was write a post bouncing all around the scene, some Man Owls would've hoo'ed and clawed at some of you, and the Amazon Talon would've killed a few rats. You have to challenge yourselves as writers as much as I do as a GM. If you think a collab is something that would make the flow of the game smoother, then by all means go for it. If your character requires the help of another hero on the scene, then some form of communication has to happen between you as players. Teamwork hasn't been a problem much in this game, I'm trying to understand why it's a problem now.

I put this game in your hands awhile ago when I asked if you wanted to move forward with just 5 people. My plans moving forward after this arc were posted, and we managed to get an additional player. I've mentioned here and the one other game I GM [don't know why anyone would think I'm stretching myself too thin..?] that I lost my job a few weeks back and am currently trying to find new work. I'll admit the last couple days I've been a little more stressed than usual and yes... I've made not one but TWO iChecks for He-Man related games while I was snowed in for an entire week. Both of which aren't really going anywhere, if anybody's actually keeping score. If you want this game to continue, then you need to write the hell out of your characters. If you don't want to have a Justice Leaguer save the day every time... then man-up and save the day yourselves. Wonder Woman is being brought in to write out Ves for the most part. The team can still defeat the Man Owls and the Talon without her.

I'll be here off and on for the next 2 or 3 hours if anybody needs anything or wants an opinion on something.

Okay, in case anyone needs additional details I drew something up in mspaint.

Now before I go into this further I'm gonna remind everyone, we're all still rookies. We're likely to make mistakes. The diagram above is how I see the current situation. All the info I'm using for this breakdown was found with Google searches, took about 15 minutes or so. I mentioned before the gym itself had a large skylight. After one Google search I found gyms are only required to have sprinklers if they have a certain occupancy and if they have smoke detectors. This gym is like comparing a mom and pops diner to McDonalds. Nowhere near as crowded, so the top gym level likely wouldn't have sprinklers.

The lower level also has a big hole in it's ceiling exposing it to the late summer/early fall conditions of Gotham. Mild temperatures I would imagine even at night. The red dots represent what would be left of the sprinklers. Probably a third of the HQ would be reserved for our living quarters, kitchen, bathroom, showers, etc. with the rest being similar to the top floor with some gym equipment and a couple boxing rings. If a third of the HQ is where the battle isn't taking place, the remaining sprinklers wouldn't have too much of an effect. When Zero brings on a coldsnap [defined as a sudden and brief drop in temperature] it was said to drop the temperature of the water already in the floors, and freeze what was coming out of the sprinklers themselves. The giant holes in the building don't help with the keeping it cold, and one more google search had me reading about bright lights not effecting owls because they have 3 sets of eyelids. As far as the cold? Dozens of owls and birds function without problem in arctic temperatures and still manage to hunt 7-12 mice per day no matter the circumstances. These birds are bigger than 'Squatcho with the same large amounts of feathers covering their bodies as any owl would have.

In short, you guys have something more to go on now. Wildcat being more experienced than even Batman said to hit them with sonics. That was one of the only things I found in my searches that would slow them down for sure. Nobody seemed to reply to Zero's attempts at com link communication directly in his earlier posts, if he's in the middle of the battle bleeding... if there's an available hand he's gonna need some help now for sure. Wildcat can help now that he's on the scene, and I'll have WW and Levi catch up with Hero on their way to the gym. I was also gonna mention our Parasite [who's arm got ripped off] is now in a complete cocoon.

@The Kid Lantern Let me start by saying this: I'm a Dungeons and Dragons player at heart. That being said, I've always approached these RPs with that kind of mindset in my head. Sure, I can make my character do things, but like in D&D, it's up to the Dungeon Master (Game Master in this case) to determine the actual outcomes of my characters' shenanigans, generally by pointing the kind of damage an attack has on enemies so I know how to act or react. Obviously, yours is a "do it yourself" kind of mindset, wherein you essentially entrust us to take care of things for ourselves unless it's a huge thing. That's fine, and I did do that in the instances where Zero was facing a single opponent (Mister Freeze, the one Owl he managed to kill on his own, etc) but, frankly, the magnitude of his sprinkler gambit is one that could potentially affect ALL the owls and, well, I felt like something of that scale should have fallen within your authority to decide how it turns out, since it could have potentially ended the fight right there on the spot.

I was surprised at the bright light not hurting their eyes and the whole 3 sets of eyelids thing. The article I read said they were a type of Raptor with their claws and hunting prowess, and usually when I think of raptors its dinosaurs. That also made them sound way more badass than I imagined.

Don't know much about Pokemon, but I usually don't take anything from cartoons as fact. Can't tell you how many times the spider on Spiderman's chest has only had 6 legs throughout an episode. LOL

For a while I thought I was on to something with the wet thing, but I was wrong about even that. The whole "being wet makes them too heavy to fly properly" is more of an insect thing, since their wings are essentially thin pieces of exoskeletons and much more fragile due to insects being smaller creatures overall. Somehow I transplanted that vulnerability onto bird wings. In essence, Zero was kind of useless overall this time around. Oh well, it happens.
