Miso City Outskirts - Kaname All Girls Academy

Chapter 00 - House of Cards

-3-

After an unexpected encounter with a mysterious benefactor, if the strange fortune teller can be called such, the girls find themselves standing upon the threshold of something bigger, a chance to change their lives forever in a way the most only dream of.

While it maybe the most desired wish of some of them, and to others nothing but a tiresome bother, all of them would find that such a change didn't come without a price...

As soon as the mysterious woman vanished, the girls found themselves abandoned on that eerie landscape, where time itself seemed to have stopped flowing. A wind, cold enough to chill the spine of even the bravest knight, hushed by, caressing the girls' skins just as it carried the last of mysterious woman's advices.

"Go back to the Halls of Enlightenment, there you shall find that which you seek."

However, just before the girls could take any action, they would notice a low rumbling near them. It was a sign that they weren't alone on that world of delusions, and certainly, as soon as they turned to look, thee would see that something (be it a lamppost, a bookshelf, random electronics or even a rogue pinball) was doing something that an object such as that should never do.

The, formerly inanimate, items were moving on their own, and not only moving, but also intent on attacking them (be it by shooting lasers, or leafs, slamming them, or whatever other form of cartoonish attack that item could do), for reasons yet unknown to the girls. The only indication of identity on the curious beings was a marking, somewhere on their bodies that represented one of the cards from the Tarot's Minor Arcana, making it clear that this wasn't a disconnected event.

When all seemed lost, and girls were about to meet their fates in the most inappropriate way possible, another seemingly impossible event happened. The card on each of their hands began to throb, rumbling as if it wished to unleash some hidden power from within it. As the final blow was about to land, the girls would find themselves acting upon instinct for the second time in the night as they unknowingly activated their cards hidden power, becoming...

The Chosen Arcana, magical girls that fight with the power of mystic tarot cards.

Now, with the power to either fight back or flee, what would the girls' do?

Chinatsu Akane

Since she was the first to arrive at their vantage point, Akane had some time to contemplate the landscape of the Crimson World on her own, while the cold breeze that was so characteristic of this place, blew gently around her. Such was the level of the girl's absorption, that she barely registered as her companions arrived in the roof as well. At least until Owari came and greeted her from behind.

"Wha!? Owarin, you almost killed me, you know? You can't creep behind people like that. What would your fans do if they knew that their idol is a stalker?" Akane said as she jumped to the side, like a scared cat and put one of her hands over her chest, to calm her wildly beating heart.

Right about that time, Reika arrived as well, asking why they always had to be so bold, when their only action until now was literally walk their way to the roof which was the natural thing to do, since the needed to be able to have a clear strategic view of the battleground, right before inquiring Akane for her plans about the fight.

"Wait, I thought that you were the leader, Kuro-shin. After all, I'm just a nerdy weirdo, I can't possibly take the charge. Anyway, I think that we have better things to do now." Akane said as the presence of several Minors popped into existence around the school and not all of them were engaged with what Akane thought to be the new magical girls, created from some of the Arcanas that they had pacified in the past.

The currently unengaged monsters were three different places(the auditorium, the courtyard, and the dormitories) so they would need to separate from here on. "I'll take the one in the dorms!" Akane said to her friends, before getting ready to storm the dorms. However, before she dashed away, she turned to them again and said "Please, be safe, girls. If anything unexpected happens to any of us, she should call for the help of the other two, ok? Also, if you meet any of the new girls, please don't be too harsh to'em."

With that said, Akane ran to the edge of the roof and, with a twirl of her fingers produced her Arcana card out of nowhere, jumping from it and yelling

"Major Arcana XI - Justice, mystic change!"

before she disappeared from Reika and Owari's sight, hellbent on punishing whatever was it that as causing chaos at their precious dorm.

Kabeyama Chikage

"Huh?" Suddenly the woman was gone. Chikage tried to think how she did it. Was she just a reflection? Perhaps a digital screen? Magic? Surely it was witchcraft, because it was the only way it would explain how a robed woman with an entire table set up just vanished from sight. It wasn't just a day dream either, or at least Chikage didn't think so, because she still had the tarot card. "What is going on?" That's when Chikage started noticing some oddities. She wasn't a stranger to Miso City's orange afternoon, but tonight the sky was a deep red. She's never seen that before. Not only that by right next to her the train had stopped moving, when it was going full tilt just a moment ago. The lights on the rail keeping cars and pedestrians stopped as well: they were no longer blinking. Chikage wasn't certain what happened. Her mind couldn't process it. But fortunately she was aware enough to notice a garbage can being thrown at her.

The first thing she heard was clanging when she saw the metal tin hurled at her face. Chikage fell off her bike, narrowly avoiding getting smacked right in the face. Startled she looked at in the direction of where the garbage can came form expecting some sort of assailant, but she saw none. Then she turned and saw the garbage can stand up. "What the fuck!" The garbage can threw it's lid at Chikage, who managed to block it with her bike. Out of desperation she threw her bike at the garbage can and knocked it over. She needed and escape, and she figured being on the other side of the train should help. So she slipped between the boxcars and started running.

There would be a police kiosk just around the corner. Chikage intended to seek shelter there, but when she arrived she saw no one. "Hello!? Police! I need help, someone is attacking me!" Chikage cried out desperately, but no one answered her back. She went to the door and tried to open it, but it was locked. She peeked into the windows and saw no one. The lights were on but there were no officers. In fact, there was no one on the streets but Chikage. She could see cars on the road, but they weren't moving. The people were gone. It was just her, and the sound of the garbage can getting closer. Panicking Chikage continued to run. She didn't know where she was going, but she figured anywhere was better then whatever attacked her.

But Chikage could only run so far. She eventually found herself near the arcade, but the sound of the garbage can was constant. It was following her, somehow. "Dammit... Dammit! What the hell is going on!?" Chikage cursed to herself. She looked around desperate and ran into an alley. She needed to hide, or grab a weapon, or anything. She found a copper pipe about two feet long. Despite how fragile it was as a weapon, Chikage took it anyways. As she turned around from the alley she saw it. Somehow, it was able to keep up with her. Blocking her exit was the garbage can. "What the fuck are you!?" Chikage shouted as if she was really expecting an answer. Instead however the garbage can removed it's lid and flung trash at her. Normally this would be silly and childish, but right now Chikage was terrified at the suddenly animated garbage can, plus it was throwing shards of glass at her. One slashed her arm and left a shallow cut, but deep enough to draw blood. Knowing that she couldn't defend herself against that sort of projectile weaponry Chikage beat another hasty retreat down the alley, exiting it to turn away from the arcade.

Chikage ran as much as she could, but soon she started to grow tired. The garbage can continued to follow her like a bloodhound, and it seemed like no where she went she could escape it. As she took a moment to breath she saw a fire escape leading towards the roof. Surely the garbage can couldn't jump it's way to the roof tops? Taking that chance Chikage ran towards the fire escape and used her copper pipe to knock the ladder loose. Tucking it into her skirt Chikage climbed the fire escape towards the roof, though before she reached the top the garbage can managed to find her yet again. But with the high ground Chikage hoped she could escape whatever it was... At least until she reached the top. Thinking that she was safe she collapsed onto her knees to breath, until she heard a sold metal thud near her. "Oh give me a break!"

The garbage can indeed did jump up after her and continued it's assault. With no time to rest Chikage had to use evasive maneuvers, getting low to the ground to minimize her physical profile and diving behind a ventilation shaft. She could feel the projectiles deflecting off the hull, but it was only a temporary reprieve. Chikage was nearly pissing herself in fear. "What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck! This is like some cheesy horror anime or video game! Garbage can come to life, what kind of sick and twisted way to die is that!?" Chikage could hear the projectiles moving around the hull, which meant the garbage can was moving to get to her. Just how much ammunition did it have? But Chikage was running out of options here. Running away wasn't doing it. It had a range advantage on her... Perhaps she could try to fight it? Though scared out of her mind, fleeing wasn't really an option any more. She needed to confront it.

As the Garbage Can moved closer, Chikage ran out from cover and tried to smash it with her copper pipe. She succeeded in stopping it from shooting more trash at her as she smacked the lid, but even with her considerable strength leaving a dent in the garbage can, it wasn't defeated. When Chikage engaged it melee it responded in kind, slamming it's hull into Chikage. She stumbled back but stood her ground. "Doriiiiiiiyaaaa!" Chikage tried to impale the garbage can, but it spun and parried Chikage's blow. Despite how unbelievable this was, Chikage ended up losing her grip on the pipe and got knocked to the ground. Her head smacked against the ground, breaking her glasses and giving her a nasty cut. For a moment, Chikage was stunned.

Exhausted from running around town Chikage tried to look up, but without her glasses as she could see was a blurry image of the garbage can. She could scarcely believe it. "I'm going to get killed... By trash...?" Crawling back Chikage was considering running again, but soon she found herself at the edge of the building. She looked over the side and could make out the three story drop. If this monster didn't get her, the fall would. She turned back and saw it open it's lip. It was likely going to try to attack her with more garbage, and at this point it seemed like there was little Chikage could do. She had ran a good mile around the city trying to escape the creature, but it somehow was able to find her. She thought maybe climbing onto the roof would save her, but this creature, whatever it was, could easily jump three stories. This was almost unfair. It was pathetic. "This isn't... How it's going to end!"

Fighting to her last breath, if only because her next ones were questionably available, Chikage rifted through her pockets for something to throw at the garbage can. Some pens, her wallet, her phone. When Chikage's phone hit the garbage can, she inadvertently played the next song on her play list. The last thing she gripped however was that tarot card. Despite not wearing her glasses, she could see it clearly. "Judgement... I see. So that's what it means."

There wasn't any time to waste. As the garbage can opened up it's lid, Chikage stood on her feet and raised her card towards the creature. Chikage had no idea what she was doing, but this next part came naturally to her. As she looked at the creature it felt like time had slowed down for her. But this wasn't the part were her life flashed before her eyes. There was, however, a flash.

~Reika Kuroke~

Reika stifled a sigh as Akane reminded her that she was to be the leader of their rag-tag group of girls. While she personally felt that the overenthusiastic otaku was more suited for the cliché role, she made no more fuss about it as Akane declared her spot for the evening. With a magical flash, she soon transformed with a loud command, hurling down the roof and into the fray of battle. Watching her for a few more seconds, Reika turned to her other companion.

“I hope you don’t mind, but I’m taking the courtyard. Like Chinatsu-san said, don’t get yourself killed,” she said stoically before leaping down into the school’s main courtyard. Using a small fragment of her magical power, she landed down safely and began walking towards a presence.

It didn’t take long before she sniffed out the scent of her enemy, those which sought to cause chaos and disarray in this world with their powers. Ordinary objects powered and fueled by the dark power of the Minor Arcana. Reika halted when she sensed it closer towards her and effortlessly moved to the side as a large lawnmower came barreling at her.

“…you are my enemy,” she told the possessed lawnmower, who then proceeded to hiss at her savagely. Honestly, could the school have gotten a bigger tool to cut their grass? This, she thought sarcastically as she continued to dodge with little words said. Only after a minute or so had passed by did she finish in analyzing the threat level of her foe.

“Your danger is minimal so I’ll have fun ending your life,” she said as the lawnmower revved up with evil power, charging with full force at the school girl. Reaching into her skirt pocket, Reika revealed a crimson and black card that pulsed with power, eager to taste the blood of the slain.

"Life Arcana Synchronize. Major Arcana XV - Devil, Activate."

A spiraling flash of black and red circled around the girl as she felt her entire core and being transform. She felt raw strength flow into her limbs as new clothing adorned itself onto her flesh. The sensation of heavy, metal, and clawed gauntlets flexed through her fingertips and finally, the phenomenon known as a Magical Girl was brought to the surface of this world.

“…You are nothing but a cursed vessel, forced to breathe life into this tarnished world. A wayward soul with no will of its own does not belong in this reality. Rest easy denizen, for I shall smite you with my hand alone. For Freedom and Redemption….”

With no emotion, Reika pointed one claw at the mindless lawnmower, even as the blood red moon showed down upon her. She drank its unholy light, instincts rising to do her duty as a Magical Girl.

“I am the holder of the Devil Card. Reika Kuroke. I fight for those weaker than themselves and for those in my need. In the name of the Devil…I will consume you.”

Reiko Kimura

"Where is everyone?" Reiko said.

It was eerily quiet in the school, and even though most people had left already there was always people who stayed behind. She didn't even see any teachers or anything. She walked past empty room after empty room with not a soul in sight. She leaned back against a wall, and slid down it until she was sitting on the floor. She needed some time to collect her thoughts.

What do I do now? She thought, Can I just keep going on like this?

She had to admit though, this kind of situation was like something straight out of anime.

"I guess that means I'm a main character..." She said.

That was probably accurate. She had been given the Hanged Man card, maybe other girls had been given cards too and were going through the same thing she was right now. Reiko reached for her card. The woman had said it stood for reversal and enlightenment, and Reiko could see that. But she still felt like there could be more in it...

Unbeknownst to her, a new threat was approaching from around the corner! A devious spare student desk had been given life and was stalking prey! Once it had been a proud and used student desk which saw some of the most not exactly hard-working or lazy and not exactly good or bad academically students of all time, but had one day been vandalized! Someone had drawn a crude depiction of it will shall not be named, and forever after only the not exactly bad but still not really good students were designated to sit at it!

One day it was cleaned and the desk thought it would finally relive its glory days as the holder of the medium! But it was replaced by another desk and left under the stairs, with all of the other desks who could not withstand the passage of time, and it was left to gather dust!

But that was their mistake! That desk has had years to think up awesome killing moves, most of which impossible for a mere desk, but over time its ideas refined into one new killing move which would be the pinnacle of the 'Fist of the Abandoned Student Desk' martial arts style! With it they would feel the weight of years of neglect! The weight of isolation and loneliness! The weight of a student desk flipping itself at you, which is basically all that it is! But still, at least the attack has a passable name!

'Forgotten Student Desk Vengeance Culmination!'

It seemed to say, but it didn't actually make any sounds. However, something else was happening. The air around Reiko had changed, it had become more dull, sort of grayer. Slowly she rose up into the air, her eyes slowly closing. The greay aura condensed into something heavier until you could no longer see her. Then its surface started to swirl, faster and faster. When it seemed to reach its peak, a whisper rang out through the empty school halls.

"And so goes the whim of XII - The Hanged Man."

The sphere burst, the dark grey energy easily tossing aside the hapless spare student desk. Before it could recover its wits however, another voice rang out.

"Let all those who see, bear witness to the will of the Hanged Man." It said, "Suspension!"

A ring of the dark gray energy encircled the desk and it lifted up into the air. Unlike the first voice, this voice was somewhat drowsy, as if the person was speaking through another layer of consciousness. Where Reiko once stood, someone else awoke. Dark grey hair to match the color of her magic, an aura that waxed and waned as if it didn't know whether to be strong or subtle, and eyes closed as if she were peacefully asleep.

She raised her hand and the wayward desk moved through the air at a temperate pace. The desk trembled as if it were afraid. It moved towards the window of an empty classroom, glass breaking before the desk even reached it. It moved further still with Reiko following it in similar fashion. On the other side the desk moved towards the windows overlooking the courtyard. As if it knew what was coming, it struggled harder than before, but there was no escape. Again, myriad racks formed on the glass before the desk came close, the pane shattering as the table came through.

When it had reached a distance where it would be impossible to come back into the classroom, the spell was finally released and the table plummeted. Without a second glance, the person Reiko had become walked away with bare feet on the cold floor.

Chiharu took a step back, eyes wide in shock as a big-screen TV somehow crawled towards her. The plug and various other wires emerged from behind it, crackling with electricity as it swiftly used several cords to propel itself along, now looking more and more like some kind of monstrous spider. Televisions were normally something that Chiharu felt no fear towards, or even the slight hesitation. And yet the way this one was moving on its wires and crackling with electricity... It was coming for her. The normally inanimate object was crawling towards her. It wanted to hurt her. Chiharu took one frightened step back, eyes wide as this sunk in. Something normally so harmless wanted to kill her.

And yet... the card in her hand. Somehow it was... comforting...? It felt warm in her hands... and slowly, she raised it up, holding it in front of her. Chiharu's eyes fell on the word, |Strength|. And then the card shuddered in her hands... and erupted in light.

Chiharu's eyes widened further, and she let out a yelp. The TV was sent staggering back on its wire limbs, then fell onto its back with a crash, wires waving in the air. Chiharu felt herself drift off the ground, as the light surrounded her. She should have been afraid, and yet... somehow she simply wasn't. The light faded to blue and swirled around her, and Chiharu felt her clothing unravel into nothingness. In spite of there being no-one to see her, and the light obscuring her body, the dark-haired girl still let out a little squeak and covered herself, flushing red. And yet what followed... light knitted itself on her body, swirling around her frame and forming... into clothes? And then light drifted to her head... bows? And... and her hair! Her hair was different, longer, it was blue... She had some kind of blue dress, and blue hair, and now... now...

Blue frames of a foreign metal latched onto her hands, and following them were a set of plates along the back. Steam hissed out of them as they linked together, clanking as they adjusted, opening and closing.

Chiharu hit the ground and stumbled, but stood up and steadied herself.

"I..." the girl looked down at her hands in wonder. "... I... t-transformed...?"

"Major Arcana VIII: |Strength|."

The voice... seemed to come from the card. But where was the card?

In her confusion, Chiharu hadn't realized that the television was scuttling towards her again, crackling electricity from its wires. Far too confused to run, the girl stared as it grew closer and closer...

She did the first thing that came to mind.

One gauntleted hand drew back, and then thrust forward. The wind whipped around Chiharu's fist as she threw it foreward, and it collided with the television's screen. Cracks spiderwebbed out from the point of impact, and for a moment the TV was suspended in the air before rocketing backwards, hitting the ground and tumbling end over end before crashing to the ground.

Chiharu stared at her fist.

"I-I... d-did... that...?"

While holding her card, Shiko had started absentmindedly walking, her thoughts in a turmoil. While it was intriguing that she had received something from what might've been an illusion come reality, it also felt...amiss. Was someone like her suppose to receive this card? What did this card even mean, asides from the usual tarot readings. If she remembered correctly, Temperence meant balance.

"Maybe I just need to rest, get a drink, slow down my thoughts for a moment." Muttering to herself, she continued walking until she reached a convenience store. Pushing open the door, she peered inside. However, immediately, something was off. "This is midday still...where's the cashier?" Mumbling, the girl entered the store, and glanced around. Not a soul could be found, nor anything disturbed. It was as if all life had disappeared, vanished into thin air.

Turning around, she walked back towards the entrance, once again opening the doors. Even outside, there was no sign of activity. No pedestrians walking, no automobiles were in motion. However, she was snapped out of her reverie as she suddenly felt something blunt collide against her rear.

A very loud shriek echo out.

Stumbling out the doorway, arms flailing, Shiko fell to the ground with a yelp. Quickly turning her head to glance over her shoulder, she beheld the sight of a...hopping mop. "W-why is it a mop?!" Almost crying to herself, she unsteadily rose to her feet, before running. The sound of the mop hopping rapidly after her was clear to hear, a somewhat disturbingly wet, squelch with every hop.

Taking random lefts and rights, Shiko found herself taking a wrong turn, and faced against a wall. A dead end. A squelch told her that the only way out was blocked by the nefarious mop that had been hounding her. Turning to face the mop as if she was facing her execution, Shiko quickly searched her self, trying to find something of worth to utilize. A pencil, a comb, hairpin, the tarot card. Nothing. She didn't even have the usual clipboard with her.

However, as her fingers brushed over the tarot card, Shiko felt an urge, almost akin to sweet whispers from the depths of one's mind. Taking the card out, she looked at it once more. Holding it out, the girl spoke, her voice clear and almost confident.

I am the one who walks along the boundary, neither one nor the other. To neither help nor harm. To hunger, but not gluttonous, to arouse but not lustful, to tire but not slothful. I am that which divides the world.

Major Arcana XIV: Temperance!

As soon as she spoke those words, her appearance changed. "Eh?! What kind of outfit is this?!" Fretting slightly as she looked down on herself, with the first words that popped into her head being cosplay. However, another squelching sound interrupted her, as the mop edged closer towards her. Glancing back down, she looked at the rifle in her hand with surprise. Shifting her eyes back and forth between the weapon and the mop, she brought it up to her shoulder and pulled the trigger.

With a pitiful sound, akin to a plastic pellet fired out of an air gun, a bullet flew from the barrel and ricochet off the mop without even leaving a scratch. "At least this gun doesn't seem to be able to hurt people..."

Rika had only removed her eyes from the woman for a second, once more studying her card, but when she had looked up once more, the fortune teller was gone. Because the last two minutes hadn't been creepy enough, apparently.

"...Hello? Are you still there?" Rika questioned the air around her. Predictably, there was no response. Awesome.
Even if she were alone, the poster girl for the Good Student archetype tried to remain as calm and composed as possible. In these kinds of situations, it was best to maintain a cool and collected head. Needless panic would only invite danger to herself. All she had to do was-

"Wh-what?!" Rika gasped, hearing disembodied words reach her ears. Despite her frantic searching, however, she was still alone.

...Hall of enlightenment? Where's that supposed to be? Rika wondered with a shiver. Not given a whole lot of time to deduce this location's... well, location, a strange clanging noise filled her ears, and with some dread, turned her head towards the probable source.

So that was a street sign hopping towards her, a circular mark plastered over what was supposed to be the speed limit. Well, that was slightly unusual. Maybe it was friendly?

Rika watched it approach with a blank look on her face, as if her consciousness had just dropped dead and left her behind to dully process the image before her. So, creepy fortune-tellers, blood-red sky, living street signs... now all she needed was a demonic cheshire cat to confirm that, yes, she had gone insane. What did she even do to deserve this?

It was only a feet away before Rika finally remembered how to move, and took a few wary steps back... then leaped back with a frightened yell as the sign suddenly collapsed with a ringing crash, as if it had intended to crush her.
Was this for real?! Was a speed sign really trying to kill her?! Why, what did she do? She couldn't even drive!

"H-hey there," Rika raised her hands in an attempt to show her lack of hostility, the Magician card still clutched in one, "look, er, Sign...kun? I'm not an enemy, I'm, uh, just lost. Please help?"
Her pleas falling on deaf ears (well, of course it couldn't hear. Signs didn't have ears at all. How silly of Rika to think she could talk to it), the sign once more rose to a 'standing' position, practically towering over the quaking student.

It was slowly reeling back, intent on crushing her with its weight, and Rika could simply watch with wide eyes, unable to believe this was happening. This... thing was actually going to kill her? Ha, no way... that was just...
Despite the danger, Rika's attention was diverted to the card still in her hand. For some reason, it began to calm her down a little, even when the card throbbed, pulsating with a strange energy... it was invigorating, really. And cleared Rika's mind of all fear and doubt.

Now with a small grin on her face, Rika faced the speed sign, just a second away from attacking, and spoke calmly;

"Shrouded in mystery, revelling in potential - Arcana I, the Magician!"

A pink light enveloped Rika, the sign seemingly freezing as her transformation occurred. Her school uniform was replaced by a blatantly magical girly costume, the light dispelling almost immediately. Now on her feet, Rika gave the costume a quick glance, admiring the staff, and noticing she even had a hat now. Cool.

"...So, if this is gonna how how I think it is..." Rika pointed the heart-shaped staff at the signpost, "I'll effortlessly crush you with my newfound power, right? I, uh, really hope it play out like that, ehehe..."

Delia Lin

Delia was walking back up the empty street lamenting the fact that all the stores seemed to have closed early Is today a holiday? Why is everything closed? having walked to the top of a hill Delia pulled out her wallet and walked to a vending looking to get another drink.

As she went to inset the coin she heard a clunk and looked down. A fresh drink was already dispensed. Raising her eyebrows Delia looked around wondering if anyone had simply forgot to grab it. When no such person appeared she reached into grab the drink and suddenly felt as if a vice gripped her.

“Ahh! What the hell is this prank!?” shock and fear instantly gripped Delia’s heart as she wrenched her hand out and scrambled away form the machine. All of a sudden the machine seemed to float before slamming back into the ground, closer to her with each. Getting to her feet Delia rubbed her eyes as if this was some sick hallucination. Then, as if the machine realised it couldn’t catch her, it stopped.

Tilting her head Delia just stared at the machine when all of a sudden she heard the thunk of a dispensing drink , followed by a can being shot at her head. Diving to the side the can smashed into the wall behind her. Eyes wide, Delia got to her feet and ran without looking back, the occasional can whizzing by her head and faster and faster thunk sounds chasing her up the street.

“You stupid piece of machinery! What’s your problem!?” yelling at the top of her lungs Delia poured on an extra ounce of speed, finding herself maybe a block away from the school before kneeling down, exhausted.

*THUNK* *CLUNK* *THWUMP*

*THUNK* *CLUNK* *THWUMP*

*THUNK* *CLUNK* *THWUMP*

The sound of the vending machine was relentless and unstopping. Getting to her feet Delia watched as the machine, although a distance away, pursued her. All of a sudden Delia felt a pulsing come from her wallet, taking out the Tarot card she looked at it as if she had just tasted something sour.

“You stupid card! This all starte-” feeling words flow through her mind and Delia grinned uncontrollably.

“You unfortunate machine”

“Take A Gamble on X - Wheel of Fortune”

Throwing the card in front of her, Delia slowly walked forward as the card seemed to grow, blocking a few cans. Without hesitation Delia walked through the enlarged card and came out on the other side in an unrecognizable form surrounded by a golden aura.

“Come, test your luck~!” pointing what looked like a wand or baton of some description at the machine Delia dashed forward, as the machine launched a faster volley of cans. Deflecting the unconventional bullets for a while, the wand was knocked from Delia’s hand and she had to resort to dodging. Feeling more agile in this form Delia quickly escaped around the back of the vending machine and launched into a flying kick with all her might.

“RIDER KICK!” hitting the machine with such force easily toppled it over. Landing on her feet Delia looked down and noticed something.

“AHH! I’m wearing a skirt?! I hate skirts!” blushing as she thought of anyone looking at her as she did that kick. Seeing no one around Delia tried tugging on the hem as if to somehow turn them into shorts she noticed just in time that the machine was getting back up.

Glaring at it Delia stuck her hand out to the side and a heavy looking gun contraption fell into her hand. The weird mix of slot machine and gun was soon aimed at the vending machine and Delia pulled the lever. As the slots whirled the sounds of a busy casino could be heard. As the slots stopped three cherries could be seen on the side.

“CH-CH-CHERRY!”

An excited voice came out of nowhere and announced the result as Delia pulled the trigger. A ball of coins about the size of a basket ball was launched at the vending machine, punching a hole clean through it.

Turning away Delia slung the gun over her shoulder and walked towards the school, what she interpreted the words ‘Halls of Enlightenment’ to mean. “Lady Luck wasn’t on your side~!”

Enju

Enju solely stood on the street carefully looking at the card to what it meant and why she had it. She timidly looked up again with her card still close to her face. Her head slowly scanned the area but to her surprise the woman from just now was nowhere to be seen. Chills went down Enju's spine as a cold breeze past her bare legs while the voice of the woman still lingered in the air. Her hair stood right up just like a sacredly cat with her head shaking from right to left to find the presence that was still here. The woman spoke in a seductive tone as the words echoed through the mind of Enju. Enju calmed a little as she held the card close to her chest, the object felt like it was part of her now. What did the woman do to her that gave such an impact. Enju carefully thought for a moment under the light post that illuminated the street. She placed the card in her bag and continued on walking towards her own home for safety and shelter. She was however still wary about everything happening around her. It looked like shadows started to move their own way and garden statues started to laugh like in horror movies. Enju lowered their head and didn't avert her eyes from her path of walking any more. Her eyes became a little watery as her pace quickened. The first person she was gonna meet from this point seriously had to prepare themselves for a wet shoulder to cry on. A misplaced garden hose was lying in the middle of the street it was running across the entire street and couldn't be avoided. Enju didn't think about it and normally walked over the thing before she couldn't move her leg any further and was entangled by the garden hose. It hissed like a snake and began to grow fatter and fatter. Enju gulped as her eyes widened. She tried to shake the hose snake lose but it was of no use. Before the snake could do anything Enju started to cry like a little girl with her voice pitching higher and higher. The hose couldn't hold it's own water and longer and shot all the water it contained within itself out in one go from underneath the small girl her skirt. Her skirt launched upwards together with the water. Everything that was dry before around the petite girl had become draining wet. The girly screaming had suddenly stopped making the streets quiet and peaceful again. Only the sound of water slowly dripping on the asphalt could be heard. The draining wet girl was blankly looking in front of her while her skirt slowly lowered itself again while making a spongy sound as it landed onto the smooth skin of the girl. A cold breeze past the girl making goosebumps on the girl her skin as she trembled by the cold that engulfed her. Enju placed her empty hand on one side of the bag and the other hand next to it before raising it above her head. A small counter appeared next to the screen as the bag quickly pounded down onto the hose. Enju continuously kept pounding the wet bag onto the defensive less hose making it puff out all it's water that it was trying to gather again for a next burst. Her voice sounded through the street after it had been quiet for quite some time "Hentai, hentai, hentai, hentai, hentai." Her voice sounded once more but louder this time as she pounced the hose one last time "Heeen-taai!" Before trying to continue walking home again. She gave a small sneeze before she noticed the hose wanted a second round. The hose swiped her feet away making the white haired fall over to the front. She landed face first onto the street "Oof." Her nose had left a little bit of blood on the street. She got herself up again with the help of her arms and felt if her nose was fine "Itatatai." She painfully rubbed her nose a little and stood upright again. She quickly turned her head but remained standing still for a moment giving the hose the right opportunity to strike again. The hose strikes out to her and left a cut along her cheek. She stammered backwards and placed one of her hands onto her hurted cheek. Enju glanced over her bloody hand and stared at it for some time before turning around and running away "Yaaaaadaaaaa!" She cried her eyes out and retreated from the fight with the scary monster.

Mura kept walking along, humming a small tune of her own design and stroking her new cat. As she kept walking, she began noticing that something was off in the city; the cars had stopped moving, there were no people about and the only sound was her humming and a slow rumble from something large behind her. Stopping her journey out of town and looking behind her revealed the truth of what was happening in town. A large stuffed bear - a lot bigger than any normal toy - was slowly stomping its way towards her and it's eyes had a dark look of death. That definitely couldn't be good, especially since the only weapon Mura has was a scalpel. There was only 1 option for her to do at this point; run. And so that was exactly what she did. Turning on an axis, she began to sprint along the street and away from the beast that was chasing her.

Her hoody and hair bounced with every step she took as she ran, the constant beating of footfalls behind her beckoning ever closer. For something of it's size it shouldn't have been moving so fast; but somehow it was. She reached the end of the street, and was almost immediately caught up to by the monstrous being. It took it's arm and claws erupted from it, swinging downwards and smashing into the ground were Mura was. She rolled out of the way and began sprinting once again to the left, placing the cat atop her head for easier movement. Then it came crashing beside her - a large ball of stuffing. Glancing behind and realising what had happened, the stuffing exploded, throwing her against the ground and leaving a crater in the ground. The bear then ripped a whole in it's chest and pulled another ball out, only to throw it with all it's might directly at Mura. Jumping from the ground, she tried to run again with the added force of the explosion to help, and it worked.

Her cat bounced atop her hoody as her feet pounded against the asphalt, creating louder and more frequent sounds as she ran. Mura turned a corner and into an allyway, being cornered by the bear once again. It's claws ripped fourth from it's arm and it came to swing from the right, but she ducked. But a little too late. The bear's arm collided with her cat and it flew from her head, hitting the wall and falling into a puddle. She watched as the water soaked up into her new pet; ruining the fabric and the toy itself. Her eyes widened as she realised what had happened and she began feeling something she had not felt in a long time; anger.
"Please forgive me Mr. Bear, but you are really pissing... me... OFF!" she yelled at the beast, almost instinctively reaching for her bag and drawing the card.

"Face your solemn pilgrimage with courage and respect, my friend, for at the end of the road enlightenment awaits you..."

"Major Arcana IX - The Hermit"

Her clothes changed to a strange new dress and she felt a new set of furry ears twitch above her head. A wide smile grew across her face as she realised one of her many wished had come true. In her hands a pair of blades formed and she swung them a few times to get a true feel to their weight.
"I am truly sorry for this, my friend, but sins like this only God may judge." she said to the bear that now looked extremely confused. She aimed the blade to the pipe next to the bear and took a test shot, ricocheting the bullet off of the metal and slamming it into the bear; ripping a whole clean through it. Then she swung the blades a few more times for practice before readying herself for combat.

Kabeyama Chikage

"PERSONA ALTER: MAJOR ARCANA XX JUDGEMENT!"

A blinding flash exploded from Chikage's body. She saw her cloths vanish as her tarot card centered on her body and fused into her chest. Her skin grew darker and her hair transformed from medium length and red to short and metallic. From where the card entered her body, a deep green cloth began to engulf her body. Soon her entire body except from her neck up was covered in this green cloth, but it wasn't over yet. The cloth began to grow and harden until something akin to leather, and from there it began to grow an array of spikes, rigids, and horns. Finally, there was a strip of cloth that appeared in front of Chikage. She reached out and grabbed it, tying it over her mouth.

The garbage can began to fire trash at Chikage, but instead of running away she ran forward, slamming the lid back onto the enemy. "Can it!" Grabbing hold of the garbage can Chikage lifted it up into the air and hefted it onto her shoulder. She dropped back, suplexing it onto the floor. Despite her new found power the garbage can didn't give up. He jumped back and started to shoot trash at Chikage again, who was too far away to shut it up again. She Chikage went on the defensive, putting her arms up to block her face. Unlike before, Chikage had a sort of armor on; the small bits of glass and trash from the garbage can couldn't hurt her. And only one she really had to worry about was when a shoe was being shot at her. But for Chikage this was an opportunity.

Chikage grabbed the shoe as it was flying at her, and tossed it right back at the garbage can. It tipped over, halting it's attack, gibing Chikage the opening to charge forward and go into melee with the monster. She kicked the can up so she could bring it to arm level, slamming it back into the ground with a heavy punch. But the garbage can still had some fight in it despite it's dents. It swiped it's lid at Chikage who blocked it. She she did she notice something really strange: There was no trash inside the trashcan, but some sort of strange marking. She didn't get to look at it for long, it looked like five, maybe six circles. "This is rubbish!"

The garbage can lunged forward and tried to consume Chikage, but she reached out and stopped it. It tried to use it's lid to attack her, but Chikage threw the garbage can at the lid, causing both to tumble away. It landed on it's bottom and seemed ready for more fighting, which Chikage was more than willing to oblige. The garbage can charged forward, slamming it's body at Chikage. She blocked it easily but had to jump when the garbage can's lid tried to sweep her feet. It started to spin it's lid around faster and faster, making it dangerous to get close. But Chikage didn't fear. When the garbage can tried to tackle into her again, Chikage charged as well. The two clashed in a mighty clang, before pushing away from each other. The garbage can seemed surprised when it noticed that it lost it's lid. It was in Chikage's hand. "I got your cover!" Smirking at the monster Chikage tore the lid apart and tossed the two halves off the building. "Time to end this... I'm going to trash you!"

The garbage can began to unleash a bullet hell of trash and junk at Chikage. By now she could tell that this creature was magical; all the trash was being summoned from inside the empty can and flung at her without any visible force at all. But despite it's magic Chikage wasn't going to back down. Most of the garbage can's attacks were unable to get past her armor, and bigger things she just smacked aside. When she got close Chikage delivered a bone-breaking punch right into the garbage cans hull, punching through it. That wasn't all: Lifting the creature above her head Chikage slammed it hard into the ground, causing it to crumple and crack the stone floor. She then dragged the garbage can to the edge of the roof where she would preform her finisher. "DORIIIIIYAAAAAA!"

Chikage used all her strength to leap into the air, dragging the garbage can alone with her. She wrapped her arms tightly around the base of the trash can so that it was just a little bit above her head. Once she hit the arc of her jump, she pointed the top of the trash can towards the ground. Then she began to spin. And spin. And spin, until she was a tornado of pain. It only took less than three seconds for her to get to the ground. She cushioned the fall with the garbage can, crushing it between the ground and her body. She flatten her foe completely, turning the once cylindrical garbage can into a big rectangle.

Chikage stood up and dusted herself off. Despite her tumble she was fine; hardly sore at all. She looked at her hands and noticed her snazzy new clothing. She turned towards a nearby window and used it's reflection to see that she has changed a lot. Her hair was short and white, her skin a caramel tan. Her eyes were still the same; that strange, supernatural yellow. She could hardly believe it. "Am I... Am I a magical girl now?" Chikage hasn't noticed anyone else around, nor any monsters. She needed to figure out how to return to her own world. But where should she start? "Think Chikage.... Let's see... If this was an anime, I'm sure there are other girls my age who are magical girls too. So where would they be? School, perhaps. Lots of girls at school. Yeah, and it's afterschool there. There shouldn't be many people around school, leaving it the perfect place to fight monsters." Chikage looked around to figure out her location before running towards school. She wasn't sure what to expect, but she was ready for anything. Or as ready as she could be, considering all the craziness so far.

Miso City Outskirts - Kaname All Girls Academy

Chapter 00 - House of Cards

-4-

The battles were turning more and more intense, and the weird encounters of the girls more and more odd. However, the night was still young and the main event was yet to unfold.

What would be the face of the true culprit behind such a series of chaotic mishaps? This, is about to be revealed, though some more silly battles were bound to happen before that, right?

Magical Justice

It wasn't long before Chinatsu Akane, or better Magical Justice, reached the dormitory buildings. Making a stand at the top of nearby water tower, Justice observed the dormitories courtyard in search of anything out of order. It was almost imperceptible, but she noticed a small spot of white moving within the red haze of the sealed space, coming out of one of the rooms in search of a way to break the barrier and unleash havok on the real world.

Not losing any time, Justice shot a couple of weak attacks close to the possessed object, before taking a deep breath and whispered to herself "Can't screw this now. I don't wanna be a bother to the others...", and finally turning to the Minor Arcana possessed object, which she could now clearly discern as a bed sheet ghost.

"Stop right there!" With the moon behind her and the dramatic wind billowing her clothes and hair, Justice pointed her staff to the silly monster and shouted, "Getting into a girl's room and stealing'er bed clothes is a crime I can't overlook, your days of pranks shall end here. I'm Magical Girl Justice Arcana."

"By the Heaven's Decree, let Justice fall on you!"

•••

"Ururururu!" The monster shouted just as Justice somersaulted from the water tower and shot a volley of swords in his direction while still in mid-air, this time, with the intent to hit. However, before the attack connected, the bed sheet weaved out of the path of the attack and coiled itself, before lashing at Justice.

Justice blocked the sheet's counter with her staff and rolled on the ground just as she landed "Hey! You're a bed sheet, not a towel!" Justice shouted as she got back to her feet, just before doing a backflip to avoid yet another of the sheet's vicious lashes.

"Ururururu!" the bed sheet continued to pressure Justice, using the remaining momentum of each attack to make the next one be even faster and more painful. It looks like this was finally the day when the laundry would do you.

That is, until Justice's feet finally landed on a wall and she used the foothold to propel herself forward in a spinning kick that finally hit the mark. Or so she thought, because this was exactly the sheet's plan and once Justice's feet connected with it, the sheet twisted around and hurled Justice against the other building, using her own acceleration against her. The sheet's 95% cotton and 5% polyester fabric, sending Justice in a world of silky pain.

"Argh!" Justice shouted as her small fame collided against the wall. "To think that I'd get a beating from a piece of fabric. That's a new one for me..." Justice said as she got back to her feet and shook the dust off dress, before collecting herself and getting ready for round two "But don't go claim victory already, 'cause when I finish with you the only thing you'll be for is as tissues." And then, she pointed her staff at it again and a veritable rain of swords fell on the courtyard, making it look like the ground zero of a carpet bombing.

Once the dust settled, the only thing left of the bed sheet were rags and a Minor Arcana card, the Reversed Four of Swords, floated idly in the air about them, waiting for Justice to purify it. "The Four of Swords, huh? Looks like someone has been neglecting her rest for too long... Well, this shall free them of their problems." Justice said as she twirled her staff around, like a gymnastics baton, summoning a ribbon of purple light that soon enveloped the Reversed Card as Justice pronounced the cleansing spell:

"You who was led astray by the whims of fate
By the name of the rulers of fate, the Major Arcana
All wrongs shall become rights
Arcana Cleanse!"

•••

After the battle was over, Justice stored the captured card on her card holster (which was strapped her left thigh, partially hidden by her skirt) and, casted another spell:

"Sword of Answers
Give me sight beyond sight
Fragarach!"

And summoned a short sword made of prismatic crystal that floated gently over her extended palm. At about the same time a copy of the same blade appeared besides Reika and Owari (who presumably have ended their fights by now as well), projecting Akane's voice "Hi there, girls! Are you ok? I finished with my own already, but the barrier hasn't lost any strength. You know what it means, right? Let's meet at the roof and wait for the MVP to come out."

~Reika Kuroke~

Reika’s mind was elsewhere as the battle continued to rage on. Or rather, what amounted to it raging considering that the Magical Girl was blocking every strike from the angry lawnmower with little effort. Her clawed gauntlets rang out with a loud, metallic clang as the tool’s blades sparked against her weapons. Really, she shouldn’t have expected a real challenge at all.

The more she blocked, the more her strength gathered and grew, pooling around her very core and being. Her magic, or rather anti-magic, was a potent one and ensured her strikes would almost always kill. A lethal power that was all befitting to the Devil Card’s owner.

“…the time is upon you. Rest easy now denizen. This battle is over,” said the girl as the lawnmower hissed violently before lunging forward in a death jab. Narrowing her eyes, Reika raised up both hands and blocked the oncoming strike. The sheer force of the impact sent a shockwave around the radius around her, sharp enough to cut all of the leaves from the tree.

So the monster was fighting back then? Perhaps it knew the end was near and so was unleashing forth one final move of desperation. Unfortunately, Reika’s will would not waver and she moved forward to land the finishing blow. Flicking her left wrist, she knocked the possessed lawnmower back into the air. As it plummeted back to the earth below, she stepped back with one foot before launching herself, right claw outstretched.

A sickening crunch was heard, the lawnmower shattered into scrap metal and a few blades. It had just been hit with a combined gathering of all the energy it itself had exerted towards Reika. The Magical Girl watched in silence as the cold wind blew over the scattered remains before she walked over the machine’s “corpse”. Hidden beneath its broken body was the source of it dark power. A Minor Arcana Card. The Ace of Cups.

"You who was led astray by the whims of fate
By the name of the rulers of fate, the Major Arcana
All wrongs shall become rights
Arcana Cleanse."

A shimmering light engulfed her briefly before Reika picked up the now useless card. Shaking her head, she turned away to find her other companions before a sword rose up from the ground in front of her. Ah, one of Akane’s magic tricks again. If Akane was finished on her end, that meant Owari had to be near complete as well.

“Do not engage until all of us arrive,” Reika said to the sword user before casually walking back in the direction of the roof.

Owari Mubarak

Instead of rushing off to one of the other locations and getting into a fight Owari acted calmly and placed down her black bento box on the ledge of the school's roof, she walked over to the ledge and watched a bit of both their fights, she watched her cute little nerd fight against an almost a bed sheet ghost or a Towel ghost.

Owari just grinned while watching her do battle with it, she turned around to the courtyard and looked around to see Reika her second cohort fighting a lawn mower like creature, when she saw Reika deal the death blow Owari sighed and turned around to do her job." What queer enemies my allies are battling today. I hope my adversary won't be strange."

As she walked inside Owari didn't bother activating her card till she got to the auditorium, the whole way there she took her time and didn't even rush or move with too much purpose, the moment she entered, the room looked normal and like nothing was there." Hmm...Is this what they call one of those "Dummy missions" ? " Owari asked herself before she saw what the monster that she had to fight was. "Oh well that is quite strange."

The creature that was in the auditorium was a living microphone stand along with a set of large speakers, the microphone had extremely thin arms and legs, the thing was just standing around looking for something to do or to attack. While the speakers just stayed by it's side stationary and ready for anyone or anything, Owari didn't really know what it was really looking for actually doing and began to approach the thin creature.

The moment the dark skinned woman gotten a couple meters close to the microphone it let out a loud sound of feedback that hurt her ears, Owari plugged her ears with her fingers trying to protect her perfect ears from the monster, when it stopped Owari gave off an angry look." Well now you've just destroyed your chance of becoming my personal microphone for on stage." Owari told it, she pulled a black card out of the top of her shirt and held it in her hand." Hopefully you'll find a another meaning in...Death."

Major Arcana XIII- Death synchronization 100 %

A Black mist covered the Egyptian woman's body, and as it covered her from head to toe, she felt herself growing and changing with each second and moment when the microphone did another feed back with the speakers backing it up to blow away the mist, the Egyptian woman vanished from the spot where she should've been.

Suddenly skeleton hands broke through the floor boards on the stage and grabbed the microphone stand's legs, sitting in the second to front Row, Owari appeared to reclining in one of the chairs with her feet up," Well I do not usually let my subjects fight for me. Well I don't let them handle everything, but I thought it over and decided to let them have some fun before I cut you down down." Owari said to the microphone stand.

The skeletons rose out of the bottom of the stage and grabbed the microphone stand only to be blown apart when the speakers blasted rock music, the bones of the skeletons flew over Owari's head and the woman sighed." Good subjects, even my perfect ones, still are hard to find." Owari said as she got up out of her seat and jumped to the stage from her spot, she landed in front of the microphone and quickly sliced the stand in half at the base only to still be blast by sound, the sound wave blew her to back of the doors of the auditorium.

Owari landed onto her feet and fixed her hair." No one sends me to the rear aisles of my school's auditorium, I'll see to it that they won't find much of." She said with the sound of anger in her voice. Owari jumped onto the chairs and began headed to the stage, right when she gotten to the center row the speaker blasted another wave of sound and rock music.

Owari leaped in between the aisles and took cover from the sound blast. When she couldn't hear rock music she jumped up and threw her khopesh into one of the speakers, she had her skeletons pull themselves together and sneak up the side aisle and charge the second speaker that was blasting rock music, they simply just unplugged the speaker and knocked it over before high fiving each other.

Owari took her blade from the speaker and stared at the two skeletons." Well I can see you two are celebrating early, our enemy is still breathing or making sound in their case." Owari looked over to the top half of the microphone stand that was attempting to make a blast with feedback or rock music, but the it only gave a hiss like sound, Owari walked over to the stand as it seemed to be on it's last legs.

" This stage was only big enough for one star, and sadly it wasn't you, the tenacity you had in trying to keep the stage yours was good and you could've won, but you just didn't have back up singers that could move like mine do." She spoke of her skeletons and how they helped her." Hopefully the metal your made of could be recycled and used for something better in the end." she looked to the bright side for the microphone.

The Egyptian woman then noticed she was talking to an object and face palmed herself." Your only probably getting half of this anyways. Goodbye. " Owari sliced up the top half to pieces and stomped on the pieces, after stepping on the pieces enough times she felt something under her foot, it was a card, Gems.

Reiko Kimura as: XII - The Hanged Man

After Reika had gone out of the courtyard, the desk Reiko had dropped finished its descent. It landed hard on concrete but somehow it still survived. Thinking it had caught a lucky break, it started to scuttle away but before it had made it that far, from the other side of the courtyard Reiko appeared.

"You are not finished yet, Suspension!" She called out.

The table quivered in fear in anticipation of what was to come, but Reiko suddenly walked back the way she came. The table still floated there but retribution did not come. A few moments later however, a rusty knife floated out of a nearby window similarly to how the table had been sent to his doom and it was placed just above the table.

An unruly basketball with TEETH followed, as well three medicine bottle spitting pills at extremely high velocity. They waited for a few minutes wondering what would happen to them, but nothing came. And then Reiko returned, hefting a large slab of concrete which looked like it had been ripped out of the wall.

Well, they had had a good run, but it looked like it was good night.

"You who were meant to wander,
finally know peace.
There is nothing more to for you to be;
Those that bear fate decree."

The cards lost their power and dropped to the ground. She picked them up one by one. There was a 3 of swords, 3 of coins, 1 of swords and a 3 of wands. The floated into place beside her, joining another three cards which she had been forced to deal with on their own.

There had been many of these minor arcana infesting the school, but they couldn't escape the Eye of Enlightenment.

Above her head, a grey eyeball appeared, pupil flitting from place to place as if searching desperately. It focused upward towards the roof and burst into grey flames. That place would be Reiko's next destination.

Kabeyama Chikage

"Doriya!" Chikage smashed a motorcycle into the ground, sighing as she watched as the biker gang before her continued to rev it's engines at her. Or rather, the bike gang. Five motorcycles had come to intercept her as she was making her way towards the school. Normally she would be scared out of her mind, but with her new found Magical Girl powers, she was able to deal with the vehicles quite easily. The hard part however was that they didn't seem to stop: even if she smashed them to bits, they just possess something else and attack her. She noticed that each motorcycle had various markings on them: Four of cups, ten coins, one sword, five wands, and seven wands. "Definitely tarot mofits. Jeez... Just what sort of trouble did Midori bring me?"

The four motorcycles charged at Chikage again. Picking up the now broken motorcycle she used it as a shield and bashed two of the motorcycles away as the other two missed her completely. They'd have to take some time to turn around, which Chikage used to continue running towards the school. She didn't bother trying to lose the motorcycles by the roofs knowing that they could likely make the jump, at at least if she's on the road she would have plenty of things to keep the motorcycles from chasing her effectively. One thing in particular that was useful was taking corners: Despite the supernatural qualities of these possessed motorcycles, they still had a hard time making sharp turns.

It wasn't long before Chikage could see the school, but with the five motorcycles on her tail she was going to need to deal with them one way or another. Smashing them didn't seem to be enough. "A weapon perhaps? A weak point? Or... Magic?" Chikage could hear the engines of the motorcycles not too far away. She needed someway to deal with them soon. It'd help if she had a weapon. She noticed a stop sigh at the corner of a street. She didn't think of herself as a vandal, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Running to the sigh Chikage tested her strength and gave the base of the sign a quick kick. Either the pole was very weak or Chikage didn't know her own strength, because she snapped the pole with her first strike.

By the time the motorcycles caught up to Chikage she was standing in the middle of the street. There was cars parked on the road, giving very little space for the motorcycles to maneuver. Chikage herself stood in between two cars, her improvised weapon in hand. "End of the road for you! I'll stop you right here." Chikage pointed the stop sign at the motorcycles as if she could have intimidated them. They seemed unphased and charged forward. Chikage braced for impact, sticking the pointy end of the stop sign to intercept one of the motorcycle's charges. Three had to dodge the cars they were about to run into while the other two squeezed together to ram into Chikage. She in turned impaled one of the motorcycles with the sign and pushed it into the path of the other, causing it to flip over and land behind her. She then lifted the impaled motorcycle up and slammed it onto the motorcycle behind her. That's when words rang into her head. It was both clear but also silent; as if she was suppose to read them out loud. She didn't quite hear the exact words, so she paraphrased.

"You who traverses the path of darkness
Your destination has come to light
Here at your journey's end
Find respite"

As she said those words, the two motorcycles radiated a bright light. By the time it faded two cards, Ten Coins and Seven Wands, were stacked upon each other. Chikage quickly pocketed these as the other three motorcycles came to attack her. She responded by tossing one of the now ruined bikes at two of the bikes nearest to each other. When the last one tried to take to the air and land on Chikage, she simply grabbed it out of the air and slammed it onto the ground. She gave the same incantation to this one and obtained the card depicting one sword. Before the other two bikes could get ready to attack Chikage smashed them with the motorcycle again, gave her incantation, and obtained the cards Five Wands and Four Cups. "Whew... That is a mouthful. I wonder if I can shorten it or something. Find respite! Hmm... Or maybe a finishing move... Well whatever."

Taking the stop sign back Chikage ran towards her school. She climbed over the gates easily despite the fact that it normally would be a hard task for her back when she was normal. Clearing the gates the magical girl ran towards the courtyard and saw an odd sight: another magical girl. She was walking away towards the school. "Where are you going?" Chikage said quietly. She didn't seem in a hurry or very confused: It was likely that she knows what's going on. Perhaps a senior magical girl? Or the reason all of this was happening? Chikage felt it was best if she didn't meet the girl directly. Instead Chikage sneaked towards one of the other buildings with a roof access. Having the high ground was always important.

Delia Lin

Stepping around the vending machine, she lightly skipped over to where her staff, slightly impaled on a wall sticking out at eye height. Tugging again over and over she eventually came loose, clattering to the ground near the vending machine. Picking up her staff Delia lightly carried her gun and looked down at the vending machine, and saw what looked like a card sticking out of the machinery, words springing to her lips.

“You who was plagued with misfortune
Find solace if the fact that it was out of your control
Your nebulous fate concluded
Better luck next time”

As the vending machine dissipated Delia reached down and picked up a card with two coins on it. Tapping the card on her chin Delia looked at it again wondering why a card would make a vending machine attack. Shrugging her shoulders Delia went to put the card in her pocket before realizing her situation
Now where do I put this?! Stupid skirts having no pockets! unsure what to do Delia simply put the card in her left high sock and walked towards the school. Arriving at the school Delia looked up and wondered if she should waste the time going around to the entrance or if she should see if the gun could blast it's way through before wondering how anyone would explain a whole in a wall with a bunch of coins scattered about. Extremely tired of the situation Delia looked up and wondered.

I can make it. I'm sure I can! I've hopped it before and now I can even beat up a vending machine! Besides, there is no way I’m the only one who’s like this and they might have some semblance of what's going on! Taking a running jump Delia surprised her self by easily clearing the wall, landing gracefully on the other side. Looking back at the wall Delia secretly admired her Wheel of Fortune before searching the grounds. Walking around the empty school Delia eventually spotted a girl that had smashed a lawnmower, but more importantly it seems like she wasn’t wearing a skirt! As she left Delia set about chasing after her and called out.

“Hey! Wait! You! This is important! How come you get to wear pants?!” out of the corner of her eye, Delia spied another girl. She looked rather scary, her outfit seemed to have dinosaur teeth and she had a mask on Am I the only one that got stuck wearing a dress? slightly intimidated Delia chased after the first girl who smashed the lawnmower.

Enju

Ill grammar edit tommorow

Enju hastily ran down the street with the angry garden hose still chasing her. Enju lightly panted eith each step she took and hurriedly turned another corner "T-two... m-more... b-blocks." She was already starting to run out of breath by the long run she had made so far. She was heading home so hopefully her mother would be there to help to defeat the monster. She wouldn't dare to take it somewhere unsafe where it could hurt others. It came to notice that the people on the streets already had evacuated and didn't show any more signs of life so that Enju could easily lead the hose down to her house. It also came to notice that that hose was freakishly long and could persue Enju while still being attached to the same water source. Enju looked over her shoulder to see how far the hose was behind her. She screeches and resume running even faster. The hose was less than 5 feet behind her. It began spraying water over the back of Enju. Despites having any effect it was still very cold water. She shivered and turned another corner "O-one... God.." Enju did a last end run and was just a little ahead of the monster. Enju quickly opened the door went inside and could barely trap the hose between the door and the door post. Enju tried forcing the door harder closed but it had no effect.

The monster had to much strength despites its looks. Enju kicked off her shoes and made her way to the kitchen and quickly digged around in the kitchen ware drawer. She got out a big knifr and began slicing it at the creature that was still chasing her. Luckily by the speed the monster came in she just had enough time to cleanly cut through the top of the hose once. The water pressure controller fell onto the floor before the small girl as she also dropped her weapon at the same time. Water started sparying in Enju's face and all around the kitchen. She made aa small drowning sound before running out of the kitchen again through the living room. The hose still followed and damaged everything on it's path with water. Enju hurriedly made her way upstairs and had a small amount of time to hide herself before the monster also joined her upstairs. For a moment the monster was confused and began searching for the young girl that was hidden in one of her mother's closets. Enju covered her mouth with both hands to stop the heavy panting and silently stood still as she heared the hose hiss and drip somewhere on the second floor. Her heart beat began to slow down from the running but the intense moment still gave her heart beat a rapid pace. The hose grew impatient and started throwing stuff around to find the girl. After a few minutes of silence the hose turned its watery head towards the closet.

Enju's eye's widened as she saw the hose getting closer towards the closet by the tiny gap she had been staring through for the whole time. The hose slammed the door in and noticed the hiden girl. It reacted quick and pulled her out if the closet in no time. The hose pulled the girl up into the air as it circled around her for a few more times "Help! No! Stop it, I don't want any more!" She began to sob slightly as the hose had wrapped itself completly around Enju her body "Any -sniff- bod..." Her phrase was cut off when the hose had gagged her mouth with a bit of the hose. Only muffling was heard after. The monster lightly started tighten it's grip around the small girl her body. The grip first started to hurt only a little but eventually it turned to a crushing pain that was about to break her petite frame in one snap. "Hmpf! Hmpf!" Tears were rolling down her eyes as the snake was crushing her. There was no way out. Why was this suddenly happening to her why was she put up with this thing. She at least hoped her mother or the neighbours would come to rescue her but that was no where in sight as of now. It was only to be suspected, she had been alone for most her life. Why would there suddenly be someone that would rescue her. Enju struggled and struggled to get out of the grip but only bounched around on the floor. She accidentally bumped into something.

Her bag fell over and dumped everything that was in it out in front of her into the puddle of water that the hose had created. Her eyes caught onto something remarable. The card that the fortune teller gave her was lying tight in front of her and was shining a bright orange color. She squinted for a moment but suddenly knew exactly what she had to do. She hoped with the small amount of movement she had over towards the card and started biting with a crushing force like her life was depening on it. The hose eventually ungagged the girl which gave her the opportunity to grab the card with her teeth. A sudden flash orange flash illuminated the room like a bright sun.

“Major Arcana VI - The Lovers!”

The girl was realised from the snake and pulled up into the air like time was frozen. She lightly levitated as feathers started to appear floating around her body. Her eyes trailed after the feathers as she slowlu curled up into a small ball. She closed her eyes as her clothes disapeared and at the same time the feathers covered the naked body of the girl. As soon as the feathers were all in place wings unfolded widely just like her body stretched out. She lightly opened her eyes while they were still teary and looked over her body. She was put down onto the ground again "Wha!?... Woow..."

Mahou Shoujo Enju

She looked at her new clothes and the wings that were stuck in her shoulder blades. She was also given a magic staff as top of the cake. Her teary eyes turned bright and filled up with confidence. As the hose wanted to attack again she stepped back a little assuming it was gonna hurt her again but she shook her head and charged in to attack "Yaaaaaaaaa!!!" She leaped towards the hose and began attacking by trusting the magic staff onto the garden hose a million times. She placed her staff onto the hose and sat onto it so it didn't move much with it's power drained now by her attacks. She did her final move and tied up the end so water couldn't flow out any more. She scarily stepped back and noticed her effort had done something. The hose began to grow fatter again but even more than before. The hose swole up to a point where it pressed against the walls.

Suddenly... Enju realised. Being so close wasn't a great plan. The garden hose explode in a rain of water and left a wave of water running over the whole top floor of Enju's house. The water drained itself by the stairs but left an unpleasant girl behind. Enju spit the water out of her mouth with a spray and looked rather droopy. She angrily stamped with one of her feet onto the floor but still smiled. Despites the water damage and the wounds everything still turned out fine. Enju noticed a little twinkling comming from the floor and examinated it. A card like the one she had was lying on the same spot as the hose monster had died. So it was presumably a drop from the monster. She picked up the card and looked at it closesly before tucking it between a part of her belt and the dress itself. She gazed around the floor and figured it had a reason. But how was she suppose to explain this to her mother. Rather where is her mother? She walked around the house a little and figured that she was nowhere to be found. She hastily started searching but couldn't find anything regarding her mother. Without drying herself or cleaning up she ran outside. The streets were still empty and everything was so quiet. The sky was still red and her clothes had changed. This was clearly out of a manga. But atleast she knew what would happen in manga's. She had to find anybody, it didn't matter who. She just wanted to get out of this mess.

Without her shoes she left home back towards the only place where other girl's would be at... School. She walked back the same road towards school with the magic staff clutched close to her chest and her face clearly displaying fear. Her dress was still lightly dripping from the remaining water as she stood in front of the school fence. She timidly climbed over the school fence after questioning why the wings felt so heavy and didn't work. Enju slowed down her pace and noticed two other girls from her perspective standing around there on the school grounds. She clutched the staff even closer to her body as softly spoke "H-hello... C-can you p-please s-show me the e-exit of this p-place." She tilted her head lightly as her wet hair turned with her head. Her body still had some remarkable markings from when she was bound but most of the blood was already washed away with the water.

~Reika Kuroke~

“I’m going where you’re going. The roof.”

Reika answered the question in that same stoic voice and expression of hers. Chikage may have been going for stealth, but it was lost on the senior Magical Girl. Reika didn’t spare the younger girl a glance considering they were, as she had said, going to the same destination. She did note how the presence had shifted, heading towards the roof using an alternate method.

The holder of the Devil Card paused briefly before moving forward, hoping there would be no more distractions for her. Unfortunately, there would be no such luck as a second voice rang out for her to “wait up” followed by yet a third voice. Reika turned on her heels to see two young girls, both dressed in the garbs of a Magical Girl.

As she scanned over them silently, suddenly this situation began to make sense. Akane’s premonition, the appearance of the blood red moon…and the birth of fellow Magical Girls. So that was how it was going to be then. Reika crossed her arms and sighed, hoping that one of the other two would get stuck with the newbies first. But of course, that couldn’t be. After all, she was the “leader”, right?

“…Both of you come with me. If you don’t want to perish, you’ll follow me to the roof to safety,” she told Delia and Enju before turning away and continuing her short-lived journey.

Miso City Outskirts - Kaname All Girls Academy

Chapter 00 - House of Cards

-5-

Having overcome their first trial, it's time for a fated meeting between the magical girls. However, this momentary reprieve was bound to not last.

As the main foe finally reveals its identity, a new and unexpected threat appears. To whose side will the scales of fortune sway now?

Magical Justice

"Justice"

Justice was perched atop the roof, waiting for her companions' arrival while assessing the situation around the school with her 'Fragarachs', actually, all of the other magical girls would notice one such crystal sword floating harmlessly besides them, while the exact same amount of copies of them circled Justice, revolving slowly, as of yet were on a blade ballet. In Irish mythology, Fragarach was a sword owned by a great many deal of legendary heroes and, once under its blade none move and the only thing one could say was the utmost truth. Indeed it was easy to why Justice had named spell like this, even though it still concealed the fact that she did it mainly just because Fragarach is such a cool sounding word.

"Hey girls, I guess that you should hurry, 'cause the guest o' honor is just about to make it's grand entrance." Justice said to the other magical girls, through the host of swords.

•••

As if on cue with Justice's declaration, the baseball field shook violently one last time, before one rambling blond girl walked to the pitcher's mound, holding one of the Inverse Arcanas in her hand. Even from this far, the magical girls could feel which card was it, VII - The Chariot. It was more like the card was wielding the girl than the contrary, when she threw it in the air and, with a bloodcurdling scream, the card fused itself with her, thereby assuming a much more monstrous form.

For the the time being, both halves of The Chariot stood still on middle of the diamond, looking around with dazed eyes, as if she was recovering from a sudden shock, no doubt one of the side-effects of the forceful transformation. However, this 'summoning sickness' wouldn't last forever, and if the girls didn't used this which was probably their best chance to end the combat quickly, they could count on being in for an arduous skirmish.

Meanwhile, on the roof next to Chikage...

"Would you care to stop, please?" Said an over polite voice coming from Chikage's literal left field, away from the sight line of the others, for the time being. If the magical girl turned to gaze at the newcomer, she would meet the figure of a gentle looking woman sporting a curious cat tail.

"I would prefer to not use violence if possible, for my mistress abhors such crude methods. Thus I am obliged to ask if you will surrender the cards that you have captured earlier peacefully. If not, I fear that I must do it 'the hard way' as youth of today would say."

After her long winded monologue, the cat woman stood on the same place that she appeared in. As she waited for Chikage's reply, the woman gave her a gaze that was at the same time gentle and terrifying, almost as if she was a mother waiting for a disobedient child's answer.

At the same time, on the hallway, next to Reiko...

At first it was a single bell, another strange sound on this night of delusions. However, the jiggling sound didn't stopped until it was just about to make the turn right into the same hallway in which Reiko stood.

Seconds later, a young girl's voice declared in a dispassionate tone, "What a cruel twist of Fate that we are to meet on this night... If you, bearers of the cursed powers, were to overcome your sins, perhaps salvation could still be found for you."

The owner of the voice happened to be a short girl who looked like she was about the same age as Reiko, perhaps a bit younger. She was dressed in what could be best described as the dignified robes of messenger of God an held a golden staff which crested with many metal rings, obviously the source of the earlier jiggling sound.

"Now, I ask, will you repent and give back that which doesn't belong to you, in order to be bestowed with God's indulgence?" The girl asked, gesturing to the cards that Reiko had captured, before silence fell between as the girl waited for Reiko's reply.
