As in, I'm not even sure why our team went to Hamarr, whether we're picking something up or dropping things off, or where the mercs are off to now that they're "off-duty".

Or the general layout of the ship they're on... Isn't it just a big open deck on a mag-lev?

*Shrugs*

Hopefully I'll figure it out before I anger any gazeboes.

I didn't think it was that hard to follow, but here goes. We started the IC on the Saminigna and had the first mission briefing, then we executed the mission, which consisted of us securing a convoy carrying undisclosed cargo that Cradle Industries wanted. Now we're in Hamarr, where Cradle's HQ is located, dropping off that cargo. However, the pilots are given free roam till Richard needs us again.

Say hello to the Big Tray Samigina, the Panthers' Bhargest-class landcruiser. It's comparable in size to the US Navy's Independence-class littoral combat ship and has a similar base crew complement of around 40 personnel, plus FRAME technicians and support staff. Its main armament consists of a trio of three-barreled 57 mm multipurpose guns. It also has several .50 cal turrets, a CIWS and features two dozen missile pads. It can house up to twelve FRAMEs in its hangar (which will likely be our player limit for pilots).

And there's a little description of the landcruiser.

I'm clearly unable to keep up with the pacing of the RP at this time. I think I'll just bow out of the RP. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Sorry to hear, Dark. I'll list Cheryl as on indefinite personal leave, in case you find time to drop in again!

Happy Thanksgiving, for those of you in the States who celebrate! I'll be away from home until Saturday, so don't expect any major developments till then. However, I'll still be checking the Guild on my phone, so feel free to linger and post, if you're able.

Happy Thanksgiving
I want to give thanks to... wait! Do we really need a day just to be thankful of something?
Hell lets get it over with.
Thanks USA
I should also get a post today as it's weekend (Friday rather) so I can spare some time

Edit: Not that I would have any ideas yet but would it be appropriate to brainstorm equipment/gear ideas (possibly in OOC or maybe off-site[Titan Pad/Google Drive]) I'm also torn in my opinion about whether or not we should be able to hide/lessen our thermal thus making the vibration sensor thing be the superior as anything that moves will make a sound that will travel in the ground (maybe aircraft op?) and on the subject of aircraft we also have the concept of jump jets.

I will go to my corner for my insolence.

@Windicator
You're free to brainstorm all you like; it'd probably help me get an idea of what other goodies I should make available after subsequent ops.
I think that could easily be done here, but if you'd like a titanpad to 'store' ideas, by all means!

I'll bother with Titanpad if the OOC blows up with ideas as far as it goes.
We already have these:
AU8 Avenger that can be bought and slowly repurposed?
Remote drone controls?
Drone launchers?
Drones?
3-D holographic mapping (this would have to be heavy on CPU and weight, otherwise EVERYONE could have it and that'd defeat the purpose of a combat controller... >.>)?

Oooooooh, 30mm Phalanx CIWS gun, modified for mech use?

Was hoping for a small autocannon and a large autoloading tank-gun (literally ripped the specs off an AMX-13's turret). The rocket-pack was likewise, the tubes from a BM-21-1 ripped right off the truck and bolted onto the FRAME.

Edit: Whelp, First double post on forums. I'll go to find a nice corner where I can feel bad about it. atleast it was about something that just might warrant a new post anyway (excuses)

Well, while I was procrastinating (It's weekend though...) I actually thought of 2 thing.
One is Shields in general. would they work? Would it add to or detract from the experience? I can't say for sure but that's just one thing that came to mind.

The other is of course: the "175 Recoilless Rifle, Magella Top Cannon" from Gundam.
To make it roughly approriate for our scale it would be 44mm (anti-tank[/artillery]) cannon

That's just my 2 cents. It'd be hand carried in 2 arms though.

I'd rather it were a 6 pdr autloading gun...

Here's an 82mm version, it's actually a low-pressure mortar.

Shields, er... any should capable of stopping serious firepower is going to be unwieldy.
-Real life ballistic-shields generally weigh as or twice as much as the rifle generating the threat.

At most would be something of a super-pershing's "let's take the front-plate of a Tiger II and bolt it to the front of a Pershing" story.
-And in that case, it's usually an all-or-nothing add-on, geared towards protecting the crew.
--Although it won't go into stats anytime soon, RP-wise Marlene is going to pile sandbags into her pit, because she knows what a sniper with an ATGM can do.

Yeah, you're probably right in that. Actually having something like that might flesh out the builds (Mortar being in didn't really get any real attention tough. Look'd at it but not something my character would use, at least yet.)

True but the question remains, would there be any "light" weaponry that could damage a frame but maybe could be stopped by a shield that would still not be able to take some heavy damage. maybe a shield that would act more as an insulating layer. shields would probably be Over Powered or just something to throw away at the first sight of an engagement. Glad to have your opinion on my little brainstorming.

I've always had an aversion to shields on mechs. Why not just make the whole frame with a strong alloy instead? Tanks, IFVs, etc. are given armor in case they get hit, but best practice for all assets is simply not to get hit on the first place. This is especially true of FRAMEs; combat doctrine emphasises maneuvers and use of cover that reduces the chances of getting hit.

Any weapon that can penetrate armor can penetrate a shield as well, damaging the arm and making the machine that much more combat ineffective, or worse, piercing through the shield and contacting the center of mass.

I prefer take the same approach taken by the US Army when they studied the pros and cons of either issuing gun-shields to machine-gun crews, or just fielding better and more body-armor.

footnote: As this study occurred during the Vietnam war, many of the casualties came from patrols getting blindsided with snipers, land-mines (grenades), and artillery (grenades). One required the operator to have a pretty good idea of where their enemy was at all times while the other did not, and since both items weighed about the same...
-You may have ran across a "for-shields" idea of "combat reform"... That's the lil tidbit Sparks left out of his essay.

Anyways...

Placing anything that constituted "protection" between yourself and the perceived threat is commonplace.
-The various attempts to up-armor the Sherman, either just the turret-front or the hull-front (steel or sandbags), or logs alongside (steel plates covering the ammo-bins was the first 'official' upgrades, but was scrapped since the bulges provided aim-points for German gunners*) have been made.

Patton was notoriously against such practices.
*Later improvements were wet ammo-racks, and larger and thicker gun-mantlets and dedicated tank-vs-tank training from hull-down positions, plus the adoption of the 76mm High-velocity gun and getting the M36 Jackson into the field in case such measures faltered.

Also, I just thought I'd throw out the idea for a melee FRAME weapon. I figure since Ryder is sort of becoming a melee character, it would be fun to have something to deal some damage up close. Something along the lines of an energy sword or an upgrade to the fists of a FRAME. It's all just an idea.

I'd like to second that idea, I'm interested in making Bernard more of a shock trooper as well. Since plasma weapons are few and far between, maybe something more like a piledriver or high output torch would be more likely? I'd really be interested in something like the blades from AC V, high output plamsa discharge on a stick, but that might be more of a late game weapon.

Since the RP is, at the moment, grounded in conventional projectiles and weaponry, rather than energy or plasma, most melee weapons will probably be pneumatic-based. Large jackhammer-esque weapons that use a very high gas pressure to drive tungsten spikes through armor (like penetrators used in APFSDS rounds). Maybe they could also be driven by railgun/coilgun principles.
