Heh, yeah well I was looking at your CS and sort of realized 'well hey that beer would make a great tanking item'. The question is, does it get you drunk now? Should tanks be permanently drunk in combat?

On another note, I might just use John Cena for my char's appearance...

EDIT: Yes. yes this is happening.

The beer that's in your inventory won't get you drunk. It's like drinking wet crackers. It just gives you a buff.

Brewed naturally would make you drunk, though.

And also

And now I wait for Ostarion to see those applications before I accept or deny anything.

Man, if you think about it, American Beer is such a value consumable. If all food items were like that, I could totally see people playing Elder Tale like they do with Monster Hunter. Eat a shit ton of food that gives you stat bonuses, and then go out and solo a boss.

Oh yeah, I'm curious. Is the stats thing just there for fluff, in the end? Doesn't seem like there's any rulings at all about it, outside of not putting all your stats into S.

I wonder if naturally brewed beer would give a stronger buff...

Also gonna go rewatch a few episodes of the show, see if I can bring my Pally moves a little more in line with lore.

@OzerathYou won't be able too. Paladin and Samurai are both localizations of the Pirate class. You won't be able to find anything about Paladins in the anime or any of the additional materials.

It's there for a mix of fluff and other things. It's mostly to dictate how much damage you would take from enemies or how much damage you deal. It'll also affect how much items get dropped, etc. There's no rulings because it's just a "Does it make sense?" kinda thing.

Hm, another question then. In the context of the game, every time you level up, do you get stat points to distribute? Or is it automatically distributed?

Because if it's the first case, how exactly do you communicate that your character is someone who put all their points into, say, STR and AGI, because they're pure burst Assassin? Would it be like STR and AGI at S, while everything else is F? Doesn't feel like it'd properly communicate just how powerful your 'S' is in comparison to someone else who's the same level, has two S rank stats, but also has a smattering of Cs and Bs.

Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but eh...I tried to balance out the fact that I had some As by giving F and E rank stats, but then there's other sheets that have double S without any Es or Fs.

@Ashifili

I guess the balancing part all comes down to the person behind the CS.

In terms of the game, there wouldn't be a letter system but numbers. The letters are for simplicity so we won't try to overthink it even more and make the CS even more complex without reason

Just a suggestion, but I feel like it might be better to give players a certain number of stat points to distribute over the stats, to better establish what they specialize in, what they're average in, and what they don't even care about.

There are 7 different stats, and there are 7 ranks. Assuming that C is normal, set F as 0, E as 1, D as 2, and so on.

After that, give every player 21 points, meaning that they can become C rank for all stats across the board. Thus, there's a simple way of doing some degree of balance when it comes to stat distribution. Then, just come up with simple 1-point bonuses for selecting different classes.

While I'm at it...got a question. Intelligence determines the power of spells. Does that relate to skills (think about a Warrior's 'spells'), or no?

We did a numerical value system last time. It didn't work out so well because a whole slew of problems happened.

That's why we're staying away from doing exact numerical values. Generally, the stat system would be looked at at "What class is this? What level?" so an assassin with an S class would have less strength than an warrior with an S class.

@AshifiliThat stat system is the system from Fallout. It works great there since there's a hard level cap of 30 and perks which can take the Intensive Training perk which lets you put one more into your stats. Even then, you can only use IT 10 times and its generally a bad idea to do that.

Elder Tale on the other hand is an MMORPG with much higher level cap. MMORPGs don't use the 21 point system since it doesn't make sense for the game. Look at MMORPGs today, high level people have stats in the 90's or even more. The plain and simple truth is that either we use the letters or go in depth with numbers that isn't the 21 point system.

As for the other question, the Warrior would use Skills I think and it all goes back to their class. Guardians would use strength, Assassins would use Agility.

I'm talking about using the numbers to show a distribution of stats though, not having it be a hard cap. The idea behind this is to have numerical rulings and limitations on how many stats you can have that are considered 'high'. If you want a stat in S rank, then you better be ready to make another stat E or F rank.

And wait, if Strength determines how much damage you do, doesn't that mean that Assassins should have the highest strength, not warrior? As they're the Weapon class with the highest physical burst? Or is there some sort of funky Agility scaling going on in there?

But hey, if you don't want to have anything to do with numbers, then I'll just adjust my own stats, and deal with it.

My mind got stuck in Dark Souls and I thought that HP and STR were correlated and DEX gave bonuses to weeaboo weapons.

Really, you should talk about the system with Ostarion when he's online, which is never. He's the head honcho. I do most of the character stuff.

A lot of people declared interest earlier, so I'll wait a day or so for them. Most likely on Monday/Tuesday.

Yeah.

Looking at your suggestion, I think I can probably make a Stat Systemâ„¢ that. We did have something like that planned before....

Then the time constraints happened.

But yeah, I'll PM it to you first and see if it's like your vision.
