Sethlan was in a state of bliss as he made his heroic charge. The power of his battle cry, the glint of his mighty sword in the sunlight, the look of terror on the blonde human girl's face as he approached...all the signs were right! It was his moment to shine at last! It was the new dawn of Sethlan Cael, the hero of legend, enemy to evil hearts and the savior of the good and the just!
And then Annie moved slightly to the side to climb up her tree.
Propelled forward by his own momentum and dreams of heroism, Sethlan tried to adjust his aim and felt his feet slip through the mud as though he were on a skating rink, his battle cry morphing into a terrified, girly shriek as his inertia carried him forward. Skidding right past where the girl was standing, Sethlan nearly dropped his sword as he flailed around helplessly before he hit solid ground again and face-planted in front of the group. Right as he landed the smoke bombs went off, concealing the group from one another and giving Annie a chance to escape from her "attackers" and allowing Sethlan to desperately wish for the ability to vanish and go really, really, far away from here. By the time the smoke cleared, Sethlan was back on his feet, dusting off the dirt and muffin crumbs in an attempt to save face.
"Greetings friends, I-"
But he was cut off when the human in the leather jacket started screaming at the group in a righteous fury. Sethlan was too dazed to follow the exact words, but he got the gist of what he was saying. By the time the rant was finished and the boy had calmed down, Sethlan's pointed face was the color of a red hot poker as he wondered if it were possible to die of embarrassment.
"And if she ends up blowing the mountain down," the boy added in a comment Sethlan felt was directed at him personally, "Don't ask why, cause that was a bad impression of monsters you gave her." Sethlan just nodded mutely as the boy strode past him after the girl. Noticing the others staring at him, he tried to put on a brave face that looked more like he was trying not to burst into tears.
"H-hi, I'm Sethlan," he said shakily, placing his hands on his hips to look heroic.
