"I have seen it. The eternal dance of the radiant light, and the cold shadow."

In this world, there is darkness and there is light. These two opposing forces, forever intertwined by a cruel fate, govern the laws of our known world and our very existence itself. Everything possesses a soul; the container in which these forces battle from the moment we are born, to the moment we die. Yet, even bound by this fate, the miraculous act of being alive grants us the power to influence the soul with our actions. With acts of kindness and selflessness, our inner light can shine brightly and illuminate the dark. On the other hand, acts of evil and cruelty beckon the darkness; snuffing out the light.

Yet no matter how hard some may try, our souls cannot exist without both light and dark. Even the most righteous of men can still fall prey to sin, and the most misguided individual may redeem themselves. It is the ebb and flow of the soul that makes us mortal, as well as keeps the world in balance. So what if this delicate balance was tipped by someone completely outside of our worlds laws? What if a being of pure darkness or pure light entered our world?

Everything changed when a Demon of the Abyss; the place where souls tainted by darkness go after death, broke all the laws of nature by linking their existence to the Soul. Every time a person fueled the darkness within them, they indirectly allowed this monster to grow in power. It grew, using it's influence to sway others to commit horrendous, irredeemable acts of evil that shrouded their souls in the dark; all while providing more power to the Demon. The balance disrupted, with souls of pure darkness inhabiting mortals, the world was thrown into chaos. Natural disasters ravaged the land, men slaughtered each other in brutal wars and the horrible demon that started all of our suffering was released unto the world with the intent of sinking everything into the Darkness.

"Ordinary men like you and I, but their souls are tainted and they know only evil. Truly, is there anyone we can really trust anymore?"

Rules

1) All Guild rules and regulations apply
2) Activity is appreciated
3) No character limit, but only make characters if you can keep them active.
4) No god mod, metagaming or bunnying - we all know the drill.
5) Smut and sexy type stuff goes to PM. Kissing is okay, touchy feely goes.
6) Proper grammar, spelling and punctuation is much appreciated. I won't be a tyrant, but at least try to keep your posts readable.
7) Please ask before making any large events, so they can be planned and announced with minimal confusion - large events could be as massive as assassinating the king or as relatively important such as assaulting a major stronghold.
8) Post characters in OOC, IC or PM to me for submission. I will respond as soon as I can.
9) Ask for a position to see if it's currently available.

The Kingsguard

The Kingsguard has not always existed, but there was a time when kings were in much greater danger than they are now and a band of knights was brought together under the name Kingsguard and trusted with the royal family's safety.

When a knight of the Kingsguard takes his vows they oath to their gods:

• They will hold no lands
• They will father no children
• They will hold no titles
• They will serve no one but their King and his legitimate blood family
• They will give their lives to protect the royal family if the time arises
• They will remain in service until the day they die
• They will obey their King without question amid execute his wishes

The Kingsguard is traditionally warriors raised by proud families, or a well established knight.

Cythlla Vladmir

Race: Vampire
Side: Dark, General of the vampires
Weapons(s): Cythlla surprisingly enough can bring her teddy bear to life to fight for her. She can also use her own fingernails as claws to attack others with.
Abilities/Powers: Unnatural strength, can turn into a swarm of bats but rarely does for fear of leaving her beloved teddy bear behind. For the most part Cythlla has all natural abilities enhanced along with some minor necromancy which she can use summon skeletal hands from the ground to keep her opponents still. She can also cast various curses. Those who are weak-minded will also become under her control and those she bites will become ghouls under her service. If she feeds her blood after biting a person that same person will become a vampire.
Talent(s): Cythlla can lure in others thanks to her childish looks.
Personality: Cythlla at first sight is a sweet and innocent little girl. However upon closer look she is major sadist who loves to torture others. She is a violent and mad person.
Biography: Cythlla was born nearly 200 years ago into a simple farm family. Around the age of 12 her family was killed by some bandits. She was about to die herself if it weren’t for a vampire nearby who pitied her. Once she had become a vampire however her true personality came out. The poor vampire that helped her was unable to stop Cythlla as she killed him by ripping out his heart. This all happened within her first year of being a vampire. What happened to her after that is unknown. But she joined the Demon lord because she thought it would be fun.

Rida Proudsword

Weapons(s): The main weapon that Rida was trained to handle was rapier. However she has trained herself in the use of a shovel as weapon despite the disapproval of her mother.
Abilities/Powers: Nothing
Talent(s): Rida loves to lay pranks for anyone in the castle. She has been known as a terror as some of her pranks are quite elaborate.
Personality: Rida loves to play pranks on others within the castle. She will act like the perfect princess when infront of her father, but as soon as he turns around she will start playing her pranks and act like a child. Rida is also very spoiled, to the point where she can act like a brat.
Biography: Rida was born to be a rather strong child. Some had actually cursed her for being the reason that the youngest prince was born so weak. As Rida grew up she proved to be quite the problem child. Her pranks started out simple. However her pranks became a bit more dangerous around the age of 10. Rida had laid a rather good looking pitfall trap for one of the maids. It succeeded and was hilariouse to her, however she broke the maids leg in the process. Since then Rida has tried to tone them down. Yet she has proven to be rather talented at laying traps. Since then she had been writing in a book to record her various pranks, and even planning traps should the need ever arise.
Extras: Has a pet pigeon named Steve.

Greetings folks. I'll be helping Cultural run the roleplay! If he is unavailable for whatever reason, feel free to direct questions to me and I'll either answer them or discuss them with Cultural when he's available.

My characters are added to the character tab I see. I do need to edit Queen Lucinda's biography a tad, but it's mostly just changing names and removing one sentence so it's not a big deal.

By the way, @Cuccoruler, we're accepting your characters. We do want you to know that while we very much appreciate these more light hearted and quirky characters (Especially Rida, I look forward to the mother/daughter dynamic between her and Lucinda), we'd like to point out to everyone, not just you, that the tone of this roleplay is quite serious. Just a reminder to everyone that even though we love our fun and games and badass characters, there will be a time and a place for a more somber mood in our story.

EDIT: I would also like to apologise now if I'm unavailable for short periods of time over the next few weeks. It is Christmas and what not. We're also expecting a lot of you to be spending times with your family for the holidays.

We'll most likely take any ideas you guys give us and write up a rough draft of the lore. Obviously we'd like to get everyone's opinion on it, but at the same time we're also going to be taking some GM liberties with how things are portrayed. We apologise if what we decide isn't exactly how you imagined it to be.

I've only noticed now, but in the map provided, which ones belong to territories of the light and dark sides? Or, are the dark characters just silently lurking somewhere in the shadows, but the light characters can still explore the outer edges of the map without fear of being bombarded with a hail if aether arrows?

Which brings me to another stupid question... where would be the starting points of the characters for the intro posts of each user?
