Oh of course. By no means is what Tori did going to go unpunished. It's fine if you don't like other division members, no one is perfect after all, but right now they're both suppose to be protecting an important artifact, not bickering like children. It's not quite insubordination (though it could easily be spun that way), it's certainly unprofessional.

Technically they don't, in the same way the CIA aren't authorized to make military action. But everyone has a loophole. The intelligence division. Not only catalogs and track information and history, they protect it. Someone's got to watch over the archives after all. And sure, the Midgard Division could protect the Nifilhim Division, but they have their own problems to deal with at times. Thus the Nifilhim need to at least be able to protect their own assets during situations.

in this instances, Tori is protecting an important piece of information (the artifact) that Cecilia's possession. She needs to keep track of it and make sure it doesn't go missing (i.e. stolen).

There's a reason why the Intelligence Division is the lowest ranked. They have no military might, court jurisdiction, or overall authority over the other Divisions. Their task is to simply hoard information and calculate it, determining and strategizing how best that information can assist the Imperium.

That being said, knowledge is of course power. Out of all the Divisions, the Intelligence Division is the most aware of what's going on inside and outside the Imperium.

Ok, I'm back alive, people. Expect a post coming in no more than an hour or so.

Now, to put my opinion under the recent discussion. I'd say that it's a complicated matter, Inter-Service Rivalry is expect and obvious when you have different groups that work under a same cause, but all have structures that are completely independent one from another.

The thing is more grievous when said forces have partially overlapping jurisdictions like is the case with the Knights of Ragnarok. When the heads had a clear attrition between them (as is their case), things get even more complicate and the final arbiter of any problem should always be the Imperator.

But in terms of duties, I'd say that (about my two divisions at least):

- The Platinum Knights: Work as a secret police on the molds of KGB and Gestapo, though, considering this, they have a considerable military force based on groups like Spetsnaz and the SS. However, there's a big difference between them and the others in that they are blind loyal to the Imperator, not the Imperium, not the people, but only to her.

- The Crimson Knights: They work as the judiciary power of the state and, like I said before, I'm mostly ripping them off the Judges from FFXII and from Dredd, so they have their own military structure as well, however it's geared towards serving as sheriffs wherever they are needed. The actual judges are few, but they have many low ranked soldiers to support their work. Technically speaking their loyalty lies with Law, so they are required to be ready to punish any, even comrades from other divisions in case they are convicted of crimes. And a verdict from a judge should not be contested by anyone other than a judge of higher standing, or the Imperator.

Exactly why I'm baffled by Tori's outburst when she'd probably know that Cecilia could have her Gestapo-equivalent at her door with a word.
I'm just saying, when I read her start to rail on Cecilia, it broke all my immersion in that moment.

It's always been a thing, after all the Imperator, Yggdrasil and the Jester are the oldest among the who cast and had known one another for centuries. It's enough time to build a fleet that would dwarf all the might of the all world's Navies combined.

Likely because technically, investigating matters between the different divisions is Asgard's job. Can't have other division members abusing their powers to get petty revenge on other division members (officially anyways). And despite the very shady rule the Imperium has, they aren't so crazy to abduct people for simple hatred. At least I try to play my part if the Imperium to not be so crazy.

First thing about the rule of cool - Don't talk about being cool (or wanting to be cool xP)

At any rate, I can already discern this whole situation is going to end horribly for a few of the characters. At any rate, best some of them make their daring escape, lest they get caught up in the consequences.

Asgard as well doesn't let power abuse slip by any means. This is perhaps one of her most important points, the Observers however, would bend and twist the law in any means as long as it was for the benefit of the Imperator, in terms of pure morals they are the lowest, but even then, petty revenge isn't easily tolerated.

I endorse this, let the boy be happy at least once. An explosion or two should do the trick, just remember:

It isn't an official rule, but to everyone, you must never look at explosions... and half of the characters already failed in this endeavor.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!

Note: Don't look at explosions you caused. You can look at other people's explosions.

Sometimes a man is allowed to admire the extent of his work, but only when it's truly an Opus Magnum.
