Hm, so we need to clarify some things.

@ClocktowerEchos, where exactly IS Imperator Kirov. It's in orbit of Anuria somewhere, but where exactly? Because for some reason people are assuming that you and I are fighting over the Arctic, which I'm 90% sure we're not. We haven't specified a location so it could be over the arctic if you want, but bear in mind that would expose your fleet to surface fire from the Ashtar base, and surface to orbit cannons can be nasty.

@Skepic, doesn't affect you too much but again, 90% sure there's no battle over the Arctic. Your ship still could've been shot down by the Ashtar picket force there, or Point Jakurna's defences, so it doesn't change things much.

@Sigma has been keeping track of things more or less accurately. The Ashtar, Jasarans, Avienans, and Aorolach all have ground presences up there. Legion's said he meant to attack the Ashtar fleet engaged with the Vaegir, so I don't think the MSSC will be there anymore.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who has stationed any ships over the Arctic, and that is a small picket force to keep an eye on things, not a battle fleet.

So.....

Ashtar fleet commander, what becomes of it because I've thought about a plot regarding it.

Also, my trio is currently somewhere in the northern hemisphere. Not the arctic but sortof heading that way by accident. That'll be explained later.

@OzerathI was just thinking that it was fighting close to the planet but not close enough to be fighting "over" any area. I don't know here to be exact.

@Legion02, I'm gonna wait to respond to your space post to give @ClocktowerEchos a chance to react to everything going on.

@VoiD, I'll have something up on yours later today probably. What do you think would arrive first, my gunships or your fighters? The gunships are based closer and were called in a few minutes earlier, but the fighters are probably faster. How far into Ashtar territory would you say your guys were pushing, far enough to be in range of missiles from Point Jakurna, or not that far?

Aight, I can sort of 'pause' on your end of the battle, Legion and I can do our boarding stuff. Just a question, would your ships fire on the MSSC ones?

It all depends on if the MSSC fire first. Feel free to have them dakka spam on your ships if you want more action in your post.
Boardings and ship interior battles are always better when things are explode all around you

@Ozerath They only pushed deep enough to attack supply lines, so probably out of range of missiles. Your gunship, since it was called way earlier, would probably arrive sooner, with my fighter hot on the heels.

Well, a main part of the tactic is pretty much: Use the Ashtar front ships to soak up all ordinance from the Vaegir and remain behind the main battle line of the Ashtar. Completely ignore the Vaegir in fact as they are not the objective. The objective right now is board, seize and jump out an Ashtar ship to a safe rendez-vous point and from there get the Ashtar ship to MSSC home space for examination. So to answer your question: They'll probably try to avoid being hit by your ordinance and not fire back at the Vaegir unless the Vaegir are threatening the success of the operation (in which case I'll either decide to pull my ships out before the damage is too costly or call in more support if the boarding is going really well and there is a real chance the MSSC can get the Ashtar ship. Mostly because I doubt my current fleet is capable of withstanding a full barage from the main battle fleet of the Vaegir).

Also, once the boarding starts, my guys will probably often call in precise dropship strikes on the boarded ship just to quickly dispatch hostiles.

Ok, so the Ashtar are going to do an emergency tactical jump within moments of the MSSC's arrival, a jump that will take them to the other side of the Vaegir fleet to use them as a barrier against the MSSC ships while continuing their mission. One cruiser will have taken too much engine damage to make the jump, so it will be left behind, completely surrounded by Vaegir and MSSC ships. I'd imagine the Vaegir would continue trying to destroy that cruiser, which would cause some problems for the MSSC's attempts to capture it.

I'm pretty damn sure the MSSC would call in another Cherubim fleet in just to pound the Vaegir away from that cruiser. So sounds like a plan.
