Star Wars RP?

So since a few of my RP's have stalled(holding out hope people come back to them still, though), and I did just see the new Star Wars movie...

I kind of want to do a Star Wars RP pretty badly. That being said, I'm not sure I should GM it right now(though I'd help brainstorm for it if someone else wanted to handle that) and I want to see who else would be interested.

Now, even if I really liked the new movie(outside of one major spoiler thing that does not have to do with a major character) I'd want to set this in a cleaned up version of the old EU, post-original trilogy. Um, at a point where we could have a nice mix of themes, jedi versus sith/dark jedi, ace pilots, blaster gunfights, all that stuff. This is to keep things more open and also avoid spoilers and trying to write around new canon. ^^;

My knowledge of the EU is a bit spotty since I haven't read a lot of it in a looong time, but I say cleaned up because there was a lot of... odd things in the EU that weren't very good, but there were also good things.

Basically would anyone be interested? I'm not sure I'd even GM but I'd at least help figure out a plot or something to go with.

I did actually have a plot idea suggested to me, but I'd love to hear more ideas as well.

Okay, I'll pitch the idea I was suggested and see how people feel about it. ^^;

Basically, there's a rather large-scale meeting of crime lords in a single system. Naturally this is not exactly the best news, so the New Republic sends in a team to go check it out. On top of this, it's drawing in all kinds of scoundrels who want to know what's going on in addition, Luke Skywalker senses something amiss and decides to send a few Jedi(number undecided, somewhat limited currently) with the New Republic team, just in case.

It turns out that this isn't just the crime lords planning some big bank job or something. They've found a course to one of the Emperor's old vaults. Worse, they're planning on finding more.

Worse still, they're selling this information to the Imperial Remnant. But not just any part of the Remnant. This is a faction that even the rest of the Remnant considers to be dangerous extremists, urged into more and more radical actions by their current leadership.

It becomes a race against this faction to stop them from accessing these vaults, while also uncovering just who is leading them and what they have planned.

Out of curiosity, how much of the EU should we know about, if any? I personally haven't read up on it, though it's certainly my plan within the next month or two.

Well, the big points you need to know for the EU is that, for this time period, after the Battle of Endor, there's some time spent taking the Empire down the rest of the way, but the New Republic is formed. Luke Skywalker starts a new order of Jedi, and the Empire is left as a fractured remnant. They're still threatening, though, but they aren't in control of the galaxy.

It is the year 50 ABY. After the SECOND GALACTIC CIVIL WAR the galaxy is now at peace. The two major factions of power, the FEL EMPIRE and the GALACTIC ALLIANCE are close

partners, bound together by family ties.

However, several OUTER RIM Moffs and Senators have decided to leave Empire and Alliance to form a new, independent government, the RIM FEDERATION. While not immediately

seeming to be a threat, the RIM FEDERATION encompassed the CORPORATE SECTOR and, more importantly, the SITH homeworld of KORRIBAN.

When the FEDERATION established an order of force users, trained on KORRIBAN, also with the help of SITH holocrons, the NEW JEDI ORDER and the newly established IMPERIAL

KNIGHTS couldn't just sit idly as a new generation of SITH were raised.
Now all willing to help have been called to the planet of OSSUS...

How does that idea sound?
