The storm died down and Hoshi was down, but not out. "Hoshi, Pain Split!" Both Pokémon had a bright red glow as Hoshi used its powers to share the pain.

Lance went to the bike store and picked up a foldable bike, as he got a bike he overheard something about a sand monster in the desert. Lance decided to go check it out getting on his bike and riding over to the desert. "Sand monster huh" Lance said putting on his goggles. He walks into the desert looking around and listening.

Pidgeot scream in pain from the move.
"Roost!" Liam called. Pidgeot healed itself

"Recover!" Hoshi recovered some health as well as time ticked into the final minute.

"Steel Wing/Brave Bird combination!" Liam called. Pidgeot began to spin as it did the combo move, making a corkscrew-like maneuver as the target, Hoshi was zeroed in on.

"Hoshi, Protect!" The Starmie conjured a green shield shaped like a stellated octahedron that repelled Pidgeot's attack.

At winds start blowing sand Lance keeps watching, he sees a big patch of sand moving towards him, "the sand monster", Lance called out gardevoir. "Use psychic gardevoir and pull it out" Lance said gardevoir attempted to pull the Pokemon out, it was hard for her to focus because the sandstorm was hurting her. "Hold out gardevoir" Lance says reading a pokeball. We saw a fin pop out from the sand as we pulled the Pokemon up its teeth showed. The gible escaped the grasp and used bite on gardevoir inflicting a lot of damage. "Gardevoir he wants to battle, use psychic again" gardevoir ripped gible from her body and threw the Pokemon in the air. "Disarming voice" Lance said, The vocal waves where visual as they hit gible. Lance threw the pokeball hitting gible in the head soon holding gible in the pokeball. It shook 3 times stopping, then successfully caught gible. Lance used his pokedex and collected data on the gible. "Sweet a dragon type" Lance said, he returned gardevoir who took significant damage from gible and the sandstorm raging. Lance hurriedly got back to the Pokemon center in mauville to heal gardevoir.

Liam's points dropped from Shiranui's use of Protect. Liam decided to take a gamble that Protect would fail. "Agility into Giga Impact!" Liam called. Pidgeot upped its speed and started to crash down on Hoshi.

"Hoshi, Substitute and follow with Thunder!" Pidgeot's attack struck home, but its target was a decoy that broke into ten pieces plus a lookalike of the core. He had realised the Pokémons' moves hitting with perfect accuracy was because of Pidgeot's ability—an ability he knew very well called No Guard, having trained an Aegislash before it became one. The real Hoshi was up high and spinning as fast as a generator, its core glowing a bright yellow and electricity arcing between its limbs ready to deliver a strike of lightning. Time was on the verge of expiring.

Pidgeot was a sitting Psyduck as it had to recharge, and No Guard meant that evasion was impossible. Pidgeot squawked when it was hit. Pidgeot managed to retain consciousness after the attack. "Air Slash!" Liam called. The sickle of wind soared toward the Starmie.

Hoshi was struck with a critical hit just a moment before the clock hit zero. The Starmie fell and landed right near Shiranui with its red core flashing. The board showed Liam's points at one eighth of the maximum and Shiranui's points all but gone.

Liam was named the winner. Mega Pidgot returned to the normal form and cooed in victory before passing out from exhaustion. Liam recalled Pidgot and accepted the ribbon. It was announced that Fortree would have the next contest. Liam went to the Center and handed of Pidgin's ball to a Chansey for it to be healed.

Shiranui returned to the Pokémon Centre and handed Hoshi's ball to a Chansey so the Starmie would be healed. "I've heard about Fortree City," he said, "The people there live in treehouses and it's also where our next destination is after we beat Norman."

"Yup." Liam said. "Rumor has it that Fortree's leader has a discolored Pokémon." Liam commented.

"I wonder which one," replied Shiranui before noticing the absence of someone, "Hang on, where's Lance?"

"Well, he wanted to go do some training while we competed." Liam recalled. "I'm sure he'll turn up eventually." The familiar chime was heard and a Chancey walked up to Liam and Shiranui while holding a tray with two balls in it. Liam thanked the Chancey and took Pidgin's ball and placed it back on his belt.

Shiranui put Hoshi's ball back on his belt. "He'll need to be here in order to get the Balance Badge he'll eventually need," replied Shiranui, "Anyway, Norman should be back at the gym by now so we'll need to go over what he could be throwing at us. From what I recall, he uses Normal-type Pokémon so anything could happen."

"Ghosts would be interesting to bring, and Fighting types would be helpful." Liam added.

"Maybe so, but be careful," warned Shiranui, "Norman, I'm sure, is well aware of that."
