They would not readily accept a puny human as its master. Or a demon. Or a fallen angel.

If a dragon came down and said it was only taking the strongest to be it's master, then set up a tournament, you can bet that Arthur would be all over that. Assuming I still have access to internet when this all goes down, and assuming Arthur doesn't have someone/thing else as his familiar by then.

On that note, Graf, a question of importance. Could one theoretically 'mix' some schools of magic in some way. Say, mixing... let's say fusing the destruction and nature schools to make a spell that, for example, creates vine like plants grow from the ground with bulbs on them that when touched explode violently with ice?

Or is there a council of one hundred and one mages who through a long and winded process decide exactly which school a spell belongs to, decided by vote?

The schools are more of a classification so that mages don't kill themselves while casting.

In any case, question for my dragon @GrafRoy Zeppeli. Can dragons naturally use magic? I'm assuming no here. And if she was a familiar in the past, but that contract ended, would she keep her magic? and if she doesn't keep her magic and she made a new contract would she gain a different set of magic?

She would lose her magic, actually, upon ending the contract.

She would gain magic again with the new contract, and it might be the same magic or something entirely different, depending on the vows made at the time. If it is something similar to the first time, it might end up in the same thing.

If you are planning on making a dragon dragon then she naturally has fire breath and extremely hard scales, no magic needed. A draconoid can also use fire and the areas covered in scales are too hard to break through. Ryuu-jin's are more martial arts oriented, tho
