So I'm checking out the setting of this one and the Hero characters, (Which I might say are pretty AWESOME!!!!), and wondering if you will be having points of crossover interactions or 1x1 battles between a hero and villain?

Oh how Eppie would hove to tear one of these guys apart. :)

I'm gonna go ahead and modify my character's height and put it at a little over six feet. I just now noticed that the other characters here are all relatively small, and I'm thinking Raptora being tall fits with her being a supersoldier clone anyway.

EDIT: Also, I personally would love to see some crossovers eventually, though I'm just as interested in the roleplay preceding and following the fights as the fights themselves. Or the dialogue during the fights. Seriously, especially when it comes to the villains that aren't really overtly evil (there's a few of them), it'd be very fun to see them interact.

...And yeah, I can't help but imagine that Raptora would be REALLY excited to fight Eppie. Y'know, because she's a terrifying beast of battle. Eppie, that is. Though I still find the idea of a huge raptor being thrown around by a little Korean woman hilarious.

So I want to ask if there's still room for another player character. He'd be... well, let's not beat around the bush. He'd be intellectually disabled, i.e. clinically retarded, most likely as a result of either experimentation done by some jackass supervillain looking to develop loyal clone henchmen, or due to being born with genes that encouraged boosted physical abilities at the cost of intellect (which were then stolen by some jackass supervillain to create loyal clone henchmen). Either way, he'd probably have some Hulk-esque gradual strength increase based on anger and/or annoyance as one of his powers, with the second power being undefined as of yet. Probably higher durability, so he has time in a fight to get sufficiently angry at the people trying to punch him to throw them through a wall. To wit, by the by, lifting grown men over your head or punching them back a couple of meters isn't anywhere near superhuman, given that people in the real world can achieve similar feats with enough effort put in; I might recommend increasing the limits of such abilities even if the PCs are low-grade heroes right now, and I admit that the proposed gradual increase in strength is partially an effort on my part to get around that upper bound a bit by having his initial strength be significantly lower than standard for something like that. So, uh, that's my character idea, which I'll start writing up soon if nobody finds it too objectionable.

I am not changing the parimeters. To haul a grown man over your head requires peek strength. Daily, well maintained workout. If you wanna go above that, you invest more points. In fact, if you wanna be above human peek performance, you can easily just put your two starting points into generic strength. The jump is fairly significant. But I am not gonna change something this late in the game. Nor am I gonna up the powerset becouse it goes against the entire premise. People will reach upper levels as they progress. This is not up for discussion. I have set perimeters, I have stuck with them and I am going to keep with them.

If someone want a RP where they start out at hulk levels, there is plenty of other good RP's for it.

I understand that he is effectively in reserve because I'm already in the Villain game, but I'm curious; What do you think of Gutter?

I mean, one, the game's not actually started, so it's not really "too late to change anything", but okay, if that's what you want pardon me, I hadn't realised this was the second game in this universe, very sorry... and two, when I say "Hulk-esque" with regards to the aforementioned strength escalation, I don't literally mean "as strong as the Hulk". What I meant by that was, the mechanism for escalation is similar in function to the Hulk's, with the intent being that the final achievable strength value for any given number of points put into it is somewhat higher than a set value of strength at the cost of it starting lower, said lowered starting strength value then being a weakness of the character in question. I don't necessarily think that's unreasonable as a power, do you?

Actually. It is connected with Supervillainy 101 that has actually started and operates on the same system. And meant to run parellel. That is why it is "to late". I see you noticed on your own.

General rule of thumb: If I, as a GM, say it is to late to change and say it is not up for discussion, there is no point with challenging it. I'm pretty stubborn that way.

The Gradual strength mechanic is fine in itself. Its just tricky to balance, as a player can easily just go full power really quickly. The problem with free form and all that. I would be fine with the gradual strength being basically double the Generic one, but the drawback must be just as bad or the player gets a free ticked to powerville so to speak.

1. Yep, I did notice that after my post, and I'm sorry for not being observant.
2. Ah. Well, I figure being literally retarded probably helps balance it out. Chances are, the strategies of... let's call him "Steve"... will be no more complex than "run to person trying to hit me, then hit him until he stops hitting me", unless specifically directed to perform a different thing by a smarter team member than him. He also wouldn't have any particular resistance to mind-affecting powers, which obviously puts him and every other non-mind-affecting character at a disadvantage there. By the way, you haven't given an opinion on this yet, but is it alright if I make the character intellectually disabled, or do you think that has the capacity to be offensive to some people, if not handled well?

If you just make him dumb as a rock, that is fine. Its a trope, and imo not to offensive. If its the result of evildoing, it further removes it from those kind of problems from what I can tell with peoples reactions. I'll allow it. I will reserve final judgement until after I gotten the the full CS, naturally.

It'll probably be a bit more profound than just "dumb as a rock", but I'll try to portray a generalised mental disability as accurately as I can. Character sheet coming up.

Looks like I woke up just in time to see a new character join the team. Awesome!

So, while I was reading Cody's sheet, something came to mind: there's a lot of games that are all about collision mechanics that I could see someone like Cody trying out at least once. Namely, bowling and pool come to the mind pretty much immediately, and the army guys I've known have been somewhat into that. There's lots of geometry / physics involved in those games for sure. Not saying he ought to have tried those, but if you were looking for more games he might have tried, those fit.

Also, I hate to shove too much optimism in everyone's face, but I'm liking how the cast of characters is shaping up.

So, a question came to mind while I was trying to fall asleep last night, @Hellis: In the future - somewhere further down the line - are Face/Heel turns for supervillains/superheroes possible? I.E., could a superhero PC go rogue and become a supervillain or vice versa?

@Hellis Aaand donezo. I actually combined the two suggested origins to some extent - he was mildly retarded, but not enough to make him incapable of living quite normally, but this was then exarcerbated by the aforementioned jackass supervillain such that his only remaining practical options were superheroism or supervillainy. So, take a look, see what you think.

@Shorticus

Villains:

The Villains are all about building themselves up in the face of their peers. To become SOMEBODY in a sea of jerks and asshats. For them each missions is for a direct and self serving purpose. This generally manifest as either Resource or Statement Missions.

Resource Missions Variants:
Aquisition: Payed job where you retrieve something for a client. Rewards you with Infamy and Money. Of course, you could KEEP what you steal, but then you'd be out a future employer.

Robbery: Hitting a bank or values transport is something you will have to do from time to time, to keep your money topped off. Paid missions is fine and all, but the big payday comes from these.

Tech Run: Every so often, some genius or company need to transport handy technology, or old powerfull artifacts or similair items. Items that would work much better in your possession. These might lead to GM rewarded, specific powerset. Like a magical amulet of protection or a high yield energy core for a certein robot.

Statement Mission Variants.
Assassination: Taking out a specific, civilian or non-super target. These missions will get you on the radar of local supers fairly quickly.

Beatdown: Facing down a Super Villain or Hero. Likely to be pivotal to your rep and storylines.

Rampage: Colleteral damage is a villains best friend. Rampages almost exclusively bring infamy and reputation.

Misc Mission Types.

Personal Missions: These missions show up every now and then and work kinda like a Bioware loyalty mission. They directly relate to a specific player charachter and will affect them in terms of the story, aquiring specific bonuses and titles. I.E; Returning to Mexico to face down Meteoras superlucha father or Tim stealing back one of his old prototypes from a major player Superhero.

Mook Mission: Sometimes, Big bad might want some extra muscle. These are good opportunities to build your rep and aquire contacts.

Plotting: Putting your resources to use and slowly build towards world domination take alot of small steps and convuluted plotting is always neccary!

Heroes

Where the Villains is all about bending the world to their needs nad building themselves up to rule it. The Heroes do what they do to make ammends, to do the right thing or simply becouse they are tired of all the jerks with super powers ruining stuff. Their Mission structure is vastly different. Allready possessing funds in the form of a Billionaire backer, they need to build goodwill and aquire support. The heroes job also often to pursue and unravel supervillains plans. The two types in this case is Savior and Paragon .

Savior Missions Variants:

Rescue: Be it terrorist hostages or victims of a natural disaster, these missions tend to make the public very fond of you.

Protect: There are many out there who live under the threat of Super Villain vandettas and similair circumstances. It is the job of a superhero.

Neutralization: Every so often, you have to take back that which is stolen. These missions are essentially your chance to aquire cool things for yourself as you return with technology that your scientists can work with.

Paragon Mission Variants.

Showdown: Facing down a Super Villain. Likely to be pivotal to your rep and storylines.

Last Stand: Now and then, a bad guy decide to really tear things up. These missions tend to end up extremely violent and colleteral becomes a big concern.

Misc Mission Types.

Personal Missions: Like the villains personal missions, these provide specific reweards and progress the story in different ways.

Crisis: Every now and then, a crisis breaks out that have you working along the big boys so speak.

Investigations: Crime doesn't solve itself! Investigation missions help you find out and stop the real troublemakers.
