I'm thinking Mirage might stay on the ship and act as the central comms hub for the various groups out and about on Omega. Thoughts?

That's one.

I know Mirage, for another. I think Tia too, if I'm not wrong.

Hazan's worked on the station for several years as a merc, but I won't be surprised if Duuka trumps him in how much he knows since he's lived there. That's kind of a bigger attachment to a place than simply work.

There's Dex too, I think.

Vellios.

Uhh who else am I missing

Vellios, in his youth I'm sure he did, and possibly a bit in the least few years. Though not often I imagine so he'll likely leave the leading to the others until he needed to make some quick credits.

Kasy is pretty familiar with Blue Suns territory and protocols on Omega, passingly familiar with the rest. Her knowledge is quite out-dated though, so of pretty limited use.

No one's gonna hit up Afterlife?

Just remember the bigass line up to get in. ;D

Also, loving the gears turning! I actually can have a day off from the hospital so I won't be writing until tonight some time, but I should have the promised post out this evening. It won't be anything massive, but it should outline what's going to happen and get us movin'.

If you guys are wondering how combat usually works, I tend to take a fairly hands off approach to most of it. Feel free to generate baddies and fight and kill them as you see fit, with the exception of named NPCs or something that could be considered a major threat, such as gunships or other vehicles or lubed up piss jar throwing hobos. For those, write what your character tries to do, and Hellis or I will respond accordingly. I trust you guys to treat combat as something serious that can injure or incapacitate your characters, and that even the strongest fighters can be outmatched at times. For example, a single vanguard isn't going to single handedly clear out a garrison of 20 men, and even fighting a handful can be quite the task. That said, have fun and don't be afraid to be creative!

Thanks for your patience in waiting for my slow ass getting things moving, it's been a pretty tiring few days because of a really screwed up sleep schedule. We'll git r' done!

Indeed, I think there's only one medic on the ship actually. Vellios could do minor patches on both ship and aliens/humans like setting bones, popping them back in, apply pressure to wounds, medigel anyone, etc. but nothing serious like internal bleeding or surgery.

<Snipped quote by The Grey Warden>

I think Kasya and him should go since they are our resident cooks. Also, for fun toss in Tonka! What do you two think @Sundered Echo & @Dervish?

That could work. Krogan can be rather persuasive, what with their ability to crush skulls with their bare hands and the devastatingly varied use of the word pyjak.

Duuka can tag along with the equipment/gear hunting team. He knows were all the best shops on Omega are!... Granted he wasn't allowed in them but he knows where they are.

I rather have me and whoever I'm fighting along side take turns controlling baddies. To elaborate on what I mean, this would mean first fight I would pick a few non named NPCs then manipulate them for my partner and me to fight in arena-ish/turn based style (say arena ish because autohits are allowed and less description, more OoC chatter over what happens) then next fight scene round my partner takes a whack at it. I find it's more engaging and helps make a much more interesting scene. Another tactic is if I 'control' an NPC then send at say a random PC then let them 'fight' it while sparingly controlling it. This allows them to take control and finish it whenever needed.

Duuka can tag along with the equipment/gear hunting team. He knows were all the best shops on Omega are!... Granted he wasn't allowed in them but he knows where they are.

Parts

Khosin, Tanya, Serena, Vellios, and Duuka? (@Bright_Ops I assume with equipment you also were talking about parts)

Food supplies

Marco, Tonka, and Kasy

Mission

Vallis (@Heat assume?)

Fuel, Coolant, and other needed liquids

Dex, Drono

Medical Supplies

Alex, Hazan

Super cool Turian playing Center Command

Mirage and check.

No one's gonna hit up Afterlife?

Vellios might when we do a lull and free time.

Add on: Working on post btw.

There's a difference between you controlling a enemy mook and another player controlling another player's enemy. :p

I volunteer Dex as Tribute, for fuel. @Fallenreaper

I think it's best Mirage takes the lead on Omega, whereas each group has at least one person who is Omega savvy enough at least not to get lost or can take direction from Mirage. Annnnnnd is also savvy enough not to get ripped off by a merchant upselling.

I'll honestly say I'm going to hang back a bit on the first combat scenes to watch how you guys handle it. Once I have a good idea of how to write them I'll jump in head first. I do personally like writing fight scenes and action but in an collaborative setting it's something new. I'll ask Dervs for help but on the same token heads up yo.

It's not that hard really, hun. Personally I think fighting against NPCs for your first experience is easiest because you can make mistakes and it doesn't hurt anyone. PvP situations, even sparing, can get sticky though because no one likes having their PC look like a fool or lose oddly. Personally, I don't mind having Vellios lose as long as we take turns allowing our PCs to win off and on. Even a vet gets unlucky once in a while.

Does Dex has any combative abilities btw?

With NPC's I can imagine there's a level of control you have and are also responsible for making it a believable balanced fight. I'm not overly worried I just want to see how things work before I contribute.

For Dex she has military-grade training in combat, she's decent and can hold her own but not any kind of expert. I've stated before she has a mean left hook. Bzzt bzzt. But seriously, she's not a highly skilled fighter by any means, all her experience lies within piloting and infiltration whereas for both the less action you saw the better.

She owns a shotgun in case they get too close and a sniper rifle to make sure they don't get too close.

Vellios might and can teach her some knife play if she would be interested? Also sure both him and Kasy @Sundered Echo would be willing to pop her little melee weapon cherry, hehee.

How I imagine this going is that the characters volunteer for particular objectives and form groups (the ones we're outlining in the OOC now) and Mirage a) gives them directions remotely and b) provides virtual overwatch by monitoring comms and hacking into security cameras. Does that sound good to everyone?

Dex would see it as a chance to bond with her crewmates, I think she'd be more interested in the bonding but picking up on a few knife tricks would be pretty handy too.

Drono is savvy enough when it comes to trading and such. He had to be, he was pretty much the face of his old smuggler duo.

He can also keep track of everyone, from their current location to their condition and if anyone needs helps than he send aid if say Vellios or someone is bleeding slowly in the street. Though if they come, that's another matter all together. XD

My only concern is if you're going to have enough to keep yourself entertained since you'll be essentially rping alone in a way. I've been in a backseat support role and it's not always fun and while Players are expected to make their own fun, it isn't easy in every situation. That's my only worry even if I'm not the one playing the PC. XD Though Vellios will likely banter and keep talking with Mirage since he's going to be dubbed the 'Mystery Voice' for shits and giggles.

Indeed, more likely to sneak a blade past security since it can be encrypted and hidden in your omnitool compared to your gun. XD

True, but there's like several listed options on our need list. :p We still medical and stuff.

I'm counting on stuff like what you described to keep it interesting. Mirage will technically be alone in the bridge, of course, but he's instantly accessible to anyone in the party to communicate with. If people remember that and make use of it, I'll be golden.

And if it does end up being boring, I might send him into the field on the next mission. Who knows.
