Had another idea for a character based off the ant in "The Ant and the Grasshopper". I figured we didn't have enough female characters, and for linguistic reasons, both the ant and the grasshopper from the story have traditionally been anthropomorphized as women in art.
Name:The Ant
Antoinette Fermi
Nickname:Answers to 'Ant', but generally dislikes nicknames, though she also tolerates 'Toni'. Some people call her 'Ayn Rand' out of spite.
Race:Animal Fable
Gender:Female
Appearance:GlamorAntoinette has the appearance of a young adult woman of small stature. She has short, ear-length black hair with two, long antenna-like strands hanging down in front. Her stern blue eyes are framed behind glasses. She usually dresses in a professional and modest manner.
No GlamorAntoinette's original form is simply a mouse-sized black ant.
Job:Works as a laborer and/or secretary. Might need ideas as to where she works.
Personality:Antoinette is resourceful and industrious but she is known as a miser. Uncharitable and unsympathetic, she believes that hard work solves all of society's problems and that everyone should work to earn their keep. She is a strong believer in the American Dream, and is something of a rags-to-riches success story among the Fables in her own right. While she doesn't give handouts, she is generous in the amount of work she does and prefers to "teach a man to fish" rather than "giving a man a fish". She sees no place in society for art and music, and though she has made herself comfortable, she dispenses with luxury and opulence, focusing on utility and simplicity. She appreciates service-providers and people who have demonstrated usefulness to the community.
Fable:There once was a hard working ant who diligently prepared for the coming of winter when a grasshopper who did nothing but sing, dance, and enjoy the luxuries of the warm seasons, mocked her. Paying the grasshopper no mind, the ant continued to work. When winter came, the grasshopper, now starving, came to the ant for food and shelter. Deciding to teach the grasshopper a harsh lesson about hard work, she turned the grasshopper away.
When news of the Adversary came, the ant worked tirelessly to ensure her own survival, hoping that she could hide in her home and let the storm blow over, yet as the situation became more dire, she had to abandon all she had worked so hard to accumulate and flee to the mundane world.
With some bitterness, the ant set to work, making herself useful in Fabletown. Sent to the Farm, she worked as a farmhand despite her tiny ant body and earned her keep, saving up penny by penny until she had enough for a good long supply of glamor and rent money. Moving into the Woodlands Apartments, she now works in Fabletown.
Abilities:Antoinette has unusual strength for a Fable of her stature, but more impressive is her stamina; she just doesn't get tired. In ant form she is smaller but stronger.
