Humanity, such a fickle species. No matter what obstacles come their way, they find a way around it. Whether they use their knowledge, weapons, or their unwillingness to give up. So they thrive on the knowledge that they can overcome anything. However, all their victories were preplanned. You see, life is like a game of chess. You send your weak pawns to be sacrificed so your opponent thinks they have the upper hand. All the while you build your army to strike them in their state of bliss. All your victories, all your accomplishments mean nothing when you lay on the ground gasping your last breath.

You now walk through the valley of the shadow of death, but you do not yet know it. For you see: I’ve sown the seeds of your destruction. I’ll destroy the sin that corrupts this world either by death or by other means. And once you see what’s knocking on your door, you’ll not have the means to deal with it. This is the end of the corruption and the beginning of the cure. Humanity will see what lies ahead of it and wish for mercy, wish to be spared, and I’ll look down from the mountain of corpses and whisper, “No”

So bring your hunters, your huntresses and your technology with you, for they will not help you. My plan has already been planted and once you realize it: you’ll be on the ground gasping your very last breath. My plan has been in root ever since you crawled from the dust and it will end when you return to dust.

Ozpin stood on the stage of the auditorium looking out at all the students that had either entered Beacon for the first time or where returning for their next year of training. He took a deep breath and cleared his throat that echoed around the large room.

“Welcome to Beacon new students,” Ozpin said before he continued, “and welcome back to any of you who have returned.” Ozpin adjusted his glasses and placed his right hand over his left hand that was resting on his cane.

“You all are the next generation of Hunters and Huntresses. Your contribution to the future starts here at Beacon. Each and every one of you comes from all facts of life: Human, Faunus, rich, poor. However, you all have one goal in mind: to protect this world from the looming darkness that threatens it. Weather it’s the White Fang or the Grimm,” Ozpin said before he began to walk around the large stage and continue, “Your road to become a Hunter or Huntress will be hard and trivial, but know you’re not alone.” He stopped in the middle of the stage.

“The person next to you, in front of you, behind you. Will be on the same path and even though you may be separated in teams of four, know that everyone in this room is family. So use their strength when yours diminishes, use their power when yours has been taken, and use their courage when yours runs out. You all are the future of this world and as such it is your duty to protect it,” Ozpin said before raising a hand to stop anyone from clapping.

“However, you will not simply be going in blind. Beacon has a team of instructors to help you on your journey and I’d like to introduce them. rRemember, they were once in your shoes and are now successful Hunters and Huntresses,” Ozpin said before the first instructor walked out onto the stage.

“First I’d like to introduce your battle strategy instructor: Jaune Arc,” Ozpin said. Jaune stood on the stage and looked a little uncomfortable, but he forced a smile and waved at the students.

“Next I’d like to introduce your Semblance instructor: Glynda Goodwitch,” Ozpin said while Glynda walked on to stage and stood next to Jaune who seemed even more uncomfortable then he was when he walked out.

“Next we have you’re your instructor on Grimm: Drake Darko,” Ozpin said. A man in his late 30’s walked out on stage wearing a black suit with a red. Atop his head was a top hat and as he walked out, his cane tapped on the hard wood floor of the stage. The way he walked, it seemed he didn’t need the cane. He smiled at Glynda before he turned to the students, took off his top hat, and bowed.

“Your instructor on Dust: Weiss Schnee,” Ozpin said as Weiss walked out and stood next to Drake. She seemed a little uneasy next to him while Drake seemed to not notice her.

“And finally, your Instructor for the history of Remnant,” Ozpin said before he walked over to Weiss and stood next to her and added, “You all are dismissed. Tonight you’ll all sleep in the ball room; however, there will be a welcoming party in the cafeteria in an hour. I do hope to see you all there.” The auditorium was filled with the sounds of clapping before it died down and everyone flied out of the auditorium.

Seth yawned and stretched as he popped some joints in his right hand, “Geez, the old man knows how to make a speech boring.” Seth looked around and was able to escape the crowd that now stood outside the auditorium. I’ve got an hour before the party; I think that should be enough time for a nap. Seth thought as he searched around for a place to sleep. he spotted a tree near the water fountain and headed towards it. the tree's shadow loomed over the grass as Seth sat against the trunk.

"A little nap should do me good before the party," Seth said before he settled in and added, "If I go that is, too many people might trigger my Semblance and that wouldn't be good."

At the back of the auditorium, Cyra hugged her arms as she leaned against the wall. Her eyes flicked from person to person as they moved past her, embedding their faces into her memory. These were the people that she would be surrounded by for at least the next four years. At the very top of her mind was a single question: Can I trust them?

When the crowd had thinned out more, she grabbed the handle of the large crate that stood next to her and made her way out into the courtyard, tugging her scarf up over her mouth. That question was never far from her mind, and the fact that everyone towered over her did little to ease her nervousness. Nor did the idea of a party appeal to her, conjuring up images of rooms packed with people, bumping into each other and closing off the air. No, that did not appeal to her in the slightest.

She made her way into the garden area, wondering just what to do with herself. She could go to the ballroom, maybe figure out a safe place for her to sleep, but she didn’t know the way. Not knowing anyone here at all made things even more uncomfortable. What am I supposed to do, Mom?

"Information formerly recognized. I will now engage in a recreational activity, in order to refresh my mind."

Shirako spoke to herself as she exited the auditorium, headed for the nearest fountain of water in which she could acquire, well, water from. When she spoke, she was being completely literal - both her main and backup processors had been working a little too hard lately, what with all these new experiences, and her head was starting to hurt. So, she took a nice, long drink of water - a process which took five minutes in order for her to fully recuperate, leaving a very strange impression on the other students regarding her. At least, those who needed a drink, or oversaw how long she was actually there drinking for.

With her water cooling systems restored, what Shirako now sought was some quiet. Of course, socializing was as important to Shirako as it was to any other being, however she knew now wasn't the time. First of all, she had to cool down a little more in the wind and avoid further processes to relax herself. Second was because she knew people would ask things that she would be more than happy to answering, unfortunately. Her father indicated that on first arrival, many would ask about her and who she was, how she got accepted, and so on. Now for some of these, her father said to answer with amnesia, however with some questions this was simply non-applicable. Shirako had already knocked off a large number of these questions, however many still remained. After all, how can you explain to someone you didn't come to Beacon in a ship, but rather riding underneath it?

Exiting from the main entrance that lead to the lobby, Shirako turns around and stares up at the building. "I believe I'll go rest up there for now." She says to nobody in particular, before loosening the chains within the clamps so they dropped to the ground, alongside her pistols, which were currently in box form. If anybody saw, the clamps looked very much like prison cuffs of the old days, however before any questions could be asked in regards to their origin, Shirako had already lassoed one of the poles atop the roof, and suddenly accelerated up the building at intense speeds by retracting the chain into the stationary confines of the clamps. With a little excess force, Shirako hopped up onto the roof, and repeated this process until she arrived at the highest point available that wasn't visible from any high place. She didn't mind people from below looking at her, after all, just the higher ups.

"This breeze is nice." She says to herself quietly, feeling herself cool down as she limits her rendered sight and other senses to speed up the process of recovery. "An East-North-Easterly wind of 27 kilometers an hour at approximately 21 degrees Celsius. Optimal conditions for recovery."

Gri listened lazily at the speech. Atlas was one of his top schools to attend but it seems he ended up in Beacon instead. Well, he wasn't going to complain. At least he was on his road to become a hunter, just like his mother, and he was happy for that. His eyes scanned each instructor who walked on stage. First off was Jaune Arc, a blond man who looked like he didn't belong to a group of outstanding hunters. He seemed uncomfortable in his position. Next was Glenda Goodwitch, now there was a confident lady. Then, it was Drake Darko who seemed like a strong enough guy and knowledgeable too. The next surprised him, but not so much. It was one of his former bosses, Weiss Schnee, daughter of the owner of the Schnee Dust Company where he worked as a guard before. The last one seemed to be their headmaster, Ozpin. Nothing much to say there really.

He clapped alongside the others as a form of respect before turning around and leaving like most of the people there. A welcoming party huh? Doesn't sound like a bad place to start. He had to loosen up after all. He placed his hands inside his pocket and then continued down the pavement with no destination in particular. He just followed his guts; after all, if it weren't for those guts, he wouldn't even be in here right now.

He tried to remember where he last saw a map or something only to remember that there was no such thing in this place. Well, that was unfortunate for him. Now he needed to explore this place and commit everything to memory for an hour before heading towards the cafeteria which he guessed was inside the main building. That wasn't too hard to guess. It sounded appealing, really, it did.

There were a great many people already flocking towards the cafeteria it seems so he opted to go for something else. Hm... that garden looks appealing but before he could make his way towards that place, he suddenly had this weight on his mind. Like he was forgetting something very, very important. His weapon? Check. His armlet where he could see his aura (HP)? Check. His stuff? Check. Now if only he had Khalil to probably help him remembe-

"Idiot." Gri said to himself before looking around for his twin brother, er, sister, er... whatever he or she thinks about himself or herself. His twin was confusing so Gri tends to think as his twin as a gender neutral subject, thus his constant usage of 'twin' or 'fraternal twin' or just 'Khalil'. "Hey Khalil, where are 'ya?" He called out, hoping that he/she would hear him. It had been years since he was with his brother/sister and that's why he forgot about him/her. 6 years of guard training alone does that to you.

Khalil was obviously very late for their meeting at the auditorium, he did hear a little bit of the speech but other than that everything was very confusing to him. He had to find out where his twin brother was staying at, hopefully he wasn't around flirting with girls when he forgot about his younger brother being in the same academy as he was. Khalil searched through the crowd of people with a worried look on his face before slowly turning around to walk away from the auditorium and to find his brother.

"Where is he? He said that he wouldn't leave me alone and now he's gone." Khalil pouted while looking around the area as he made his way outside. The other soon to be hunters looked really good and they looked like it would be hell of a challenge to beat them as spars or team works. But none of that thinking for now, Khalil had to find his brother or else he would start getting sad and whenever Khalil gets sad, he cries. Yep, he does. His twin was no where to be found, and even Khalil asked some people to help locate where his twin brother was at. It wasn't really that hard to find someone who looks like Khalil, even-though they didn't really look alike but still!

Then finally!

Khalil finally has spotted his brother standing around, looking around the area as if he was trying to search for something. The girly-boy quickly ran over to his twin brother before wrapping an arm around his shoulder to pull him closer. "So, big brother. Are you lost or something?" he asked while walking to stand in-front of him. Khalil attempted to punch his brother on the gut before his hands were now placed on each side of his hips. He was obviously looking at his brother with an angry expression, why didn't his brother pick him up or anything..? It was like their young days again, his brother always forgets about Khalil. "Is it because I look cuter than you?" he giggled while twirling the ends of his long and beautiful blonde hair.

Chelsea was leaning against the wall a little secluded from the rest of the students who filled the auditorium. She played a bit around with her lollypop while she listened to Ozpin's speech.

Jaune Arc battle strategy, Glenda Goodwitch Semblances, Drake Darko grimm, Weiss Schnee Dust and Ozpin our history teacher. That looks like an interesting composition... What do you think, Alexander?
There isn't much I can say, but this blonde boy. He might not look like it, but he has the heart of a true warrior. I can feel it.
Hmm... is that so? You could never tell when you just look at him. He probably went through a lot to get where he is now. Anyway now that the opening speech is over it's time to move. Thank you, Alexander.
My pleasure, ma'am.

The people were slowly leaving the auditorium, all heading for the same destination it seemed, the cafeteria. Well, almost everyone.
After a bit of consideration Chelsea decided to wait the leaving students out instead of trying to squeeze through the masses.

Ozpin watched the students leave the auditorium and when the final stragglers left. He took a deep breath and sighed. Glynda walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, “is everything alright?”

“Something horrific is on the horizon. I can feel it, but I can sense what it might be or even where it might be coming from,” Ozpin said before he turned to Glynda and the rest of the instructors and added, “We are these students peers and as such they have to look to us for guidance. Whatever is coming this way, we must make sure our students are ready for It.” the instructors nodded as Ozpin walked toward the exit of the stage.

“As for now, I think a night for celebration will do use good. We’ll need this should times become dark,” Ozpin said before he walked off stage.

Seth lay against the tree trunk as his white fox tail swished through the grass. His right ear swiveled around towards each noise that surrounded him while his left ear stayed stationary. Seth’s intention was to look like he was sleeping, but he dared not fall asleep. Not after the nightmares he suffered from for the past few nights. He took a deep breath and sighed.

“Once we get into our teams, it will hopefully help me understand and control my Semblance. Otherwise I might as well go in alone,” Seth said to himself. He had a plan to keep his real personality a secret. Hidden under a fake personality. As long as it helps, I’ll have to bit down and deal with it. many will not like it, but it’s for everyone’s sake. Seth thought. He sighed again and settled back against the trunk of the tree to make it seem he had fallen into a deeper state of sleep.

Oliver listened intently as their headmaster spoke. Teams of four, huh? That could be fun. He thought. Oliver looked around, noting the uniqueness of each an every person around him. No two people looked alike. At least he would be able to remember names a bit easier. The headmaster introduced the staff, Jaune Arc, Glynda Goodwitch, Drake Darko, Weiss Schnee, and the headmaster himself, Ozpin. Oliver felt that the staff was lacking in numbers, but they probably more than made up for it with their skills. After all, they were at the top Huntsman academy on Remnant.
Ozpin finished his speech by announcing the welcoming feast at the cafeteria, which piqued his interests. He was famished after the long flight from Mistral. He decided it would be a good idea to arrive early. Oliver was one of the first to leave the building, trying to get ahead of the wave of students all going in the same direction. It was only then that Oliver realized that he didn't even know where the cafeteria was. He waited for several students to get ahead of him, and promptly followed behind them. Just please be going to the cafeteria.

Nimra stood at the back of the crowd. Enclosed spaces were never really her thing, especially when there were so many people nearby. She mostly tuned the headmaster out, only paying attention long enough to note the names of her professors. He said something about teams, which excited Nimra. Her dad used to tell her stories of the best teams to ever come out of the Academies, and how four simple fighters were the equivalent of an entire army. It's what inspired her to take on the task of being a Huntress in the first place.
The professor ended his speech, releasing the students to do whatever they wanted. Nimra wanted to go to the ball room, where she would be able to set up her temporary sleeping bag. It wasn't ideal, but it was better than nothing. After weaving her way through the crowd, she made her way to the ball room. Earlier, she had gone off on her own to explore the grounds, and quickly get a feel for where everything was. After committing it to memory, she rejoined the others for the speech. At least now she wouldn't get lost on her way.

Gri rubbed the back of his head. It should have been really easy to spot Khalil. He was a blond haired guy with long hair and wore a skirt just like any other girl out there. Okay, that sounded weird. But this was really no time to think about that. "Where is that kid?" Well Khalil wasn't any younger than him, and that was the truth, but he did look younger than him. That much was a fact.

Then suddenly someone gripped his shoulder and the familiar voice of his twin reached his ears. "No, I was looking for you." When the punch came, he parried it so it wouldn't hit his gut. He didn't want to cause some commotion in their first day and with his brother no less. Oh, Khalil looked angry. "You know full well that you didn't come to the auditorium with me... and I know you came in late because we agreed to meet in front of it remember?" He asked. "But... I do admit that you look cuter than me. Everyone knows that." He said before raising his arm to pat Khalil but then noticed her hat. He frowned and then placed his hands inside his pockets.

"But come on, how about not starting off with our first meeting in six years with a fight? I'm curious on how you've been Khalil. Any suitors?" He asked jokingly as he gestured for him to follow. He was actually already heading towards the cafeteria. It was best to be there earlier rather than late right? One could easily make out the smile on his face. Seeing his girly brother again for the first time in a long time made him really happy. Sure, he had talked with his father but that was in the academy and he never brought Khalil along. Seeing a face that he grew up with was really refreshing.

Alice sat in her seat nervously listening to every word the headmaster had to say 'Sleep all together... In... One room...' she tensed up a little. Alice has never been good with social interactions, and she had no clue what to do about this. 'Celebration? Tonight? Does that mean party?' Yet her leg was shaking a little this first night might be harder than originally thought.
After it was all over Alive was one of the last ones to leave the auditorium. To be honest she has no idea what to do besides sheepishly walk around and try not to make a fool of herself. 'Maybe I could hide on the roof?.. No too high... Maybe get food?.. But I'm not really hungry... Or maybe I could.' Alice was too deep in thought and looking around she wasn't watching where she was walking and hit the side of the water fountain making her trip and fall in.

Seth’s nose twitched as the aroma of food tickled his nostrils. He opened his eyes and yawned. He didn’t know how long he was sitting there, but the smell of food made his stomach rumble. Haven’t eaten all day Seth thought before he stood up and stretched.

“Sitting there for most of the day really did a number on my lower back,” Seth said as he rubbed his lower back and sighed, “Nice way to start off the year. With lower back problems.” Seth forced his hands into his pockets and walked towards the cafeteria. On his way there he saw a woman flustered and too busy in her own thoughts to watch where she was going. In a matter of seconds she fell into the fountain. Seth stopped next to the fountain and looked at her with his right eye twitching.

“Seriously? How in the hell did you miss the fountain? It’s like the size of a car,” Seth said to her. He was struggling to keep is actual personality from showing. He just wanted to ask if she needed help, but knew he needed to keep looking like a jerk because of his Semblance. Seth sighed and reached out his hand.

“Come on, let’s get you out of here before your clothes become see through,” Seth said offering to help her out of the fountain as he added, “I’m sure you don’t want that now do you?”

Alice almost cried a little at the remark about her nit seeing the fountain, but she restrained herself on the thought of further embarrassing herself. She took his hand "T-thanks for helping, a-and I would n-not like my clothes to be see through."she said with a little nervousness. With the student's help Alice was able to get back up and out of the fountain. Alice now needed to get out of her wet clothes and into dry ones before the party. "By chance d-do you know a p-place to change?" She asked or and basically having to force herself to speak and to keep herself from running away like she would in these situations.

"Any.. suitors...?"

Khalil made a kawaii angry face while staring at his twin brother as he quickly shook his head. Just because he looked like a female didn't really mean that he was going to have someone who would purchase him everything he wanted or something. Khalil rolled his eyes as he walked over to the cafeteria with his brother, he ran his fingers through his blonde hair before ruffling a bit as a string of his hair was cuffed behind his ear. The twins arrived at the cafeteria and Khalil hasn't said a word as of yet, but he was curious about something that he needed to ask his brother. He turned his head slightly over to his twin, before asking him; "Are you going to be embarrassed to hang around me? Because if you are, I can just leave you alone through-out the years of us being in the academy and we can just go in our separate ways or something. I mean, I'm just asking because we haven't seen each-other in a while and you didn't even give me a hug like you used to do." he pouted while crossing his arms over his chest. Khalil looked around the area while tapping his left food on the ground, there were many people in the cafeteria and it was obviously very easy to get lost as well.

The girly boy quickly walked over to the cafeteria line as his stomach started to grumble already, a sign that the feminine boy was indeed very hungry. He motioned over to his twin brother so they'll make the line together, if he was hungry that is. There were many hunters and huntresses to be in the academy, but he wondered how many friends, enemies, he would make.

Seth though for a moment before he said, “Our stuff should be in the ballroom.” He didn’t know where the ballroom was. However he knew a way to find it, but he knew it might get him in trouble. He looked at the woman and added, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but to find the Ballroom with all our stuff I need to smell you to get your scent.” Seth quickly sniffed around the woman before he took a big whiff of the air. He took another sniff before he turned around.

“The ballroom is this way, all your stuff should be there. This way you’ll be able to get some dry clothes on,” Seth said before he started towards the ballroom without warning. He stopped and turned around and said, “Well, are you coming or not? I don’t think you want to spend all day in wet clothes. I don’t got all day.” His tail swinging back and forth stirring up dirt. Seth sighed. that day he was wearing his black hoodie over his shirt. He took it off and handed it to Alice

"Might want to wear this, you're clothes might become see through while I take you to the ballroom. it might smell like fox, but I can't do anything about that," Seth said.

"Good, I thought I'd have to go and meet a guy." Gri said with a light chuckle. Although he would be interested on what kind of person caught his eye or something. Then Khalil asked something strange. Embarrassed around him? Why would his twin brother even think of something like that? He froze at his reasoning. Well, it is true that he hasn't made much physical contact with him... nor did he even think about it. He sighed and rubbed the back of his head as he lined up behind Khalil. "Khalil, you have to understand that we're pretty much older than what we used to be. But I'm not embarrassed to be around you, I swear, and I'd appreciate it if you stuck by me." He started. "I didn't hug you because... well, it has been a while since we've met and I don't remember what I used to do alright? I've been through a lot and I forgot how we used to treat each other. Sorry."

He then shifted uncomfortably in his position as he continued to look at his brother and then he sighed again. He then slung his arm around Khalil's shoulder and then pinched his cheeks. "And besides, what kind of brother doesn't want to be around his cute little twin?" He said with a grin on his face. He didn't care just how many people were there who saw this part of him. He doesn't mind it. He'll openly show his affection to his twin without getting embarrassed or regretting it.

West was rather disinterested in the presentation given earlier. He took in the names of the teachers and their respective specialties. They were impressive, but West planned on being better than all of them. He hoped he would get a team that was skilled as well, or at least worked hard. He clapped with the rest out of the respect he had for the teachers.

He left with the rest of the students after the assembly, weaving his way through the masses. As it emptied into the hall, the masses dispersed and it became easier to move. He decided to head to the cafeteria and wait for this party. There were a lot of interesting students going to and fro. Some looked quite a bit stronger than others. Ponderings about what his team would be like raced through his head.

Soon food was being served and West helped himself. More students were beginning to pour into the cafeteria. He began to wonder what this night in the ballroom would be like as well.

"There is... but one hope...~"

"To band all together...~"

"To free all... from..."

The dark-haired cyborg sighs. "Lyric writing is incredibly difficult. I wish I was good at it so I could become a vocalist."

She pauses.

"Though if I wish to do that, modifications on my tone would be required... Perhaps learning more about personalities would also help."

Shirako sighs as she attempts to lower or raise her voice's pitch with a series of 'A's, however nothing could change the indifferent monotone. Defeated, she opens her eyes and stares out at the open school ground before her from the roof. She had been relaxing for quite some time now, and was pretty much OK to go back inside. "Perhaps limiting my social interactions would better my recovery time for the moment." She ponders aloud as she stands, quickly wrapping the chain around yet another pole that stood tall on the roof. "However, father did say that practicing emotion was the 'next step' to advancing myself. Finding who I am is top priority."

And then... she jumps...

Thankfully, Shirako wasn't hurt at all in her descent due to her use of her weapons, though it might be a worrying sight for anyone who witnessed it. Though, the fact she was simply dusting herself off was reassuring. "Perhaps I should locate the cafeteria. I believe it was this way..."

And so, Shirako began her journey to the cafeteria... starting by going in the wrong direction...

Alice didn't quite know how to react to getting sniffed, like did it count as getting violated? She thought about saying thanks for finding direction of the ball room, but would that be weird because of what he had to do to find it. She was again caught in thought and it took the Faunus student asking her if she was coming or not to snap outta thought. When she caught up she had received his black hoodies to wear on the way. "Thanks..." she said with a slight smile. The walk to the ballroom was fairly quiet and for once Alice felt comfortable enough to speak "So what's your name? I just realized you've been helping me thus whole time and I don't know your name." she asked without stopping or stuttering... for once.

After a while there was finally enough space to leave the auditorium without having to squeeze through anywhere. Chelsea was walking towards the cafeteria when she saw a dark haired girl walking around outside.

She somehow seems... lost. Maybe you should ask her if everything's alright.
You think?

She truly looked like she had no idea where to go. So Chelsea walked through one of the doors who lead outside and walked towards the girl.
"Hello, please excuse my rude question, buuut could it be that you are a bit lost? If you want to go to the cafeteria where the party is supposed to take place I could show you the way. I was planning to go there anyway sooner or later."

Seth walked with his hands in his pockets and on occasion he would sniff the air.

"Name's Seth, but I don't think you need to worry about remembering it. Odds are you'll find a group of friends and forget," Seth said with out looking at Alice. He took another whiff of air at cross road.

"The ballroom should be this way," Seth said as he headed down the left path towards the second largest building. As Seth walked towards the building his right Fox ear swiveled towards each sound while his left ear stayed stationary.

After a few more minutes of walking Seth stood in front of a large door and took a long sniff of the air.

"Stay here," Seth said before he walked inside the building. After a few seconds he walked back out and said, "alright, no one's inside. You stuff is in the right corner."
