Since I've been without laptop I found a great deal more time to play videogames.
And so I said not too long ago, "You know I've yet to beat Fallout: New Vegas on Hardcore." I knew there was some form of reward, but have avoided spoilers for the years as I wanted to see the reward for myself. 100 gamerscore by the way, but I was expecting something underwhelming so regardless.
I, for what mudt have been the hundredth time, made the character I always wanted to be. High charisma and intelligence, six luck for Mysterious Stranger (though he never showed his face), guns and speech, and for once I put some points into barter and survival.
I set out, and the beginning went as expected. I gathered food and water, killed some powder gangers, and made my way to Primm.
There I got the sheriff duster, my go to outfit for the early game, I love a good coat you see. I slippee into the Bison Steve, and went the back way around to get to Beagle. Freeing him I gave him the mercy of dying in combat because I knew otherwise he would lose his job once I restored law to the town.
But the law would wait. Ed-E in tow I continued my usual early game, stopping by and helping Mojave Outpost before walking to Nelson.
At the gates I met the winner of the lottery, who I promptly murdered. I also took his lottery ticket, because it was weightless and the winning ticket was a good trophy.
I met the Legion, and in a bold move decimated the dogs with the use of mines and grenades I reclaimed from some bandits.
From that point till about the mid-late game I wore the head of a wolf, and the coat of a law bringer.
Pressing on I continued with the usual, fought of some Legion assassins, though not without several broken limbs. Spent about half an hour real time looking for the damn doctor in Novac, but after kept on with the usual. Come fly with me, recruiting Boone, having a wonderful chat with No-Bark.
Then I reached Helios-One, and I learned of the Legions cruelty. Boone and Ed-E, along with several NCR soldiers, died protecting me from the assassins.
Piling the corpses high I took the helm of the bastard that killed my friends, and drank down a bottle whiskey before giving my farewell to two good friends.
I gave power to the poor, and then set out for boulder city. Talking my way through, the Kahns walked away unharmed, while I looked to Vegas.
By then I easily had the money to walk into Vegas proper, but with Veronica at my side dealt with many problems of Freeside first. And got banned from gambling at the Wrangler. Wearing the suit I got from gambling I stepped onto the neon painted strip. But I didn't go into the Lucky 38 however. I had other business to attend to, at the Tops.
I talked my way to Benny, weapons in hand me and the top cat himself spoke at length in the presidential suite. Benny dropped like a sack of rocks when a .44 bullet entered his heart.
Then, for good measure I made enough money to get banned from the casino.
Mr. House. The master of Vegas, and one of the few from before the war who didn't have glop falling from his face.
I left to meet Caesar, House wished his army readied and who was I to refuse, after all, the house always wins.
My meeting with the conquerer of 48 tribes went well, and soon I had turned the army of robots on without a scratch, my science skill was high.
At that point I was travelling with Arcade Gannon, Veronica chilling in the 38. The two of us went on a few side quests, until I decided to travel with Veronica, and I felt like grabbing the Alien Blaster.
Sadly, even with the power of my modded cowboy repeater the aliens proved to much. I lived, yet Veronica, charging into the lasers with a fist, did not.
Several quests later I picked up Cass, my favorite companion I feel safe saying. After dealing with her personal quest in the peaceful fashion I began my quest for what would be my greatest weapon... the Ranger Sequia(I spelled that wrong bo doubt.). Could have murdered riot armor rangers until I got it, but I like the NCR, so the peaceful route.
It started by getting to the various ranger stations.
It was easy for the most part, save for one. Foxtrot I think, the one near Jacobs Town. I tried to get to it Vegas side, and before I realized I had to go around was swimming in Cazadors alongside Cass and Rex(with Lupas brain).
My head was injured, my doctor bags were nill, and I gripped the Mysterious Magnum praying to make it to the Followers Safehouse, of whom I was a member.
Nest after nest, swarm after swarm.
We were almost there. We blew through the last group like angels of death.
I was hopeful. Until I heard Cass ask for a stim. She was stung one too many times, and as I turned around desperate to save her she hugged the ground. She died before my eyes.
When I reached the safe house I downef all my whisky, to remember and forget.
I run out of room to type I think. I have likely taken up too much of everyone's time, though should some be curious I'll finish my tale.
