Have you considered bringing in some kind of third party? One that isn't light or dark? It may help in creating a scenario without fighting.

Oh I just thought of a scenario idea! If there is any kind of trade between the light and dark sides would it be possible for them all to meet up at a sort of market where violence is prohibited?

@Cuccoruler yeah that would be a Neutral Zone! Neutral Zones are villages/cities/ market towns etc where both sides can meet and trade freely and violence between the two sides is prohibited :)
