Actually such spells like Cat's Grace or Bull Strength are Sorcerer/Wizard spells. But looking over his CS myself, it looks like his special abilities are suppose to also grant him parrying abilities or some sort and deflect/catch arrows, which themselves are things that require at least two/three feats to do. It could be assumed that at some point he was taught something along the lines of Improved Unarmed Strike, Deflect Arrows which are two feats, and then Catch Arrows for three.

Also the closest thing to what he wants as a spell-like ability is Time Stop, which is a 9th level spell. To put into perspective how powerful a 9th level spell is, the spell Wish is also a 9th level spell, which can be best examined yourself.

While I know you aren't keeping track of gameplay mechanics, assuming he has this spell that would imply he's at least 18th level, which is strong enough to contest against the likes of demigods and legendary monsters. Keep in mind the usual level cap is 20.

I get that spellcasters tend to completely stomp noncasters at higher level, but let's not get too OP from the gate. Magic has it's uses, but poor Catarina is going to feel completely useless if even the martially untrained sorcerer is better at parrying than she is.

@Ryonara go ahead, when Swordfish does post a Cs his character will have to meet us half way there or something.

Agreed which is why I am saying no.To the ability. I mean we wont be facing anything that requires a spell that high. See Vivian isn't that high of a level if we had levels. Perhaps level 5.

Oh. I'll be honest, I kinda assumed we're at least level 10... I'll be sure to adjust his capabilities appropriately.

Just so you know, the reason I'm somewhat finicky about character levels isn't because I'm a munchkin (I can't optimize to save my life), but because higher levels gives me more creative things to work with. If Malkai was at least an 8th level druid, he could potentially stay in animal form for his entire life. He can stay in animal form for 8 hours (1 hour per druid level) and use Wild Shape 3 times a day. Lower levels give me less, at least if I'm sticking with gameplay mechanics.

Sorry if you don't want us to be so anal about power levels, aside from balancing issues D&D tends to evoke, a lot of the cool things I do want to do require me being fairly high level to pull off. Thousand Faces, the spell-like-ability Malkai uses to hide his true appearance for example, requires him to be level 13.

@Lucius Cypher I guess we can go lvl 10 it means I could send forth much stronger opponents. Okay, we are all caped at lvl 10.

@Lucius Cypher yeah tired of waiting for Swordfish. I keep stalling letting fluff posts occur but he hasn't posted a Cs yet. Bishop should be good though. When he posts it should be him coming across the group.

Because I don't like being nondescript, I've decided that anytime Malkai isn't speaking common the text will be spoken with 「bracket quotations」. His spells also will lack proper punctuation. Since Malkai technically knows four languages (Common, Orcish, Slyvan, and Druidic), I'll just use 「bracket quotations」 for all others ones aside from Common, and I'll mention what other languages he'd be speaking in in-text.

@Lucius Cypher Time may slow for me but it goes on as normal for others. dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Time_Stop is what you were talking about but my ability is more like an "excuse" to explain my *heightened reflexes on dodging hits and attacks when this ability is active*, deflecting arrows(putting your hands at the point where they were to make contact with your body) and also misdirecting sword strikes(meaning to put your hands at the point where the sword would make contact with your body and when the sword hits your metal plated gloves you slide it away to get the sword away from you).*The speed part bonus if I chose to activate it during this abilities duration may increase my speed but will give me negative effects on everything else after it has ended.* I just wrote it this way to explain it better but I will remove it if you still consider it too OP or inconvenient.
***TL;TR In other words this ability gives me more reflex, deflection(and speed but with negative effects afterwards) and I will remove it if you say so.***
Also I'm preparing a list of spells that I know and putting them on the CS.

If Enhanced reflexes is what you want, just get an amulet or belt of dexterity (+2 is common, or +4 for something really good). Way less complicated with less drawbacks, though very pricey. Rule legal too. Since we'll be roleplaying it rather than crunching numbers, it should allow you to get away with being speedy without relying on a unknown or completely homebrewed ability based off a 9th level spell.

Do I have permission to add more kinds of magic (only using lightning for attacks still), because there isn't much lightning magic lvl.0. Also, to your judgment, which is better dandwiki.com/wiki/Energy_Blast_%283.5e.. or dandwiki.com/wiki/Energy_Bolt_%283.5e_..?
On a side note, could my character have knowledge and skills in hand-to-hand combat? Also, would having a dexterity enhancing item be OK with you? I removed all that time stop thing I wrote earlier.

@Bishop those ate considered energy attacks so yeah. As for hand to hand combat. I am not to sure that is a sorcerers field. Vivian can use her staff for melee but that is kinda simple compared to hand to hand combat. Especially when all the groups enemies will be wielding swords and axes. Can't really get close enough to punch something if its swinging a great sword at you.

As for enchanted items for dexterity. I don't mind but same principle. Picking sorcerer, dexterity isn't the field you want to increase. Charisma or Wisdom are the abilities you want covered.

Strictly speaking, there's no nessisary perquisites for Improved unarmed strike (or a level in monk), and dex is more important to a spellcaster than say, strength. I can see him using some of his feats to give himself improved unarmed strike, even if it is kinda useless for a sorcerer (a sorcerer close enough to punch someone is in a bad spot).

It's not the most optimized way to play a sorcerer, but as hey. Thus is all for good fun, yeah? I mean, I'm a half-orc druid. I'm not exactly optimizing either.

take the unarmed feets. Wasn't saying no just words of caution. Difference between him and Malkai is that he is still designed for combat. Orcs, half breeds or not are always combat ready.

@Bishop spells are fine. You didn't have to list them. I didn't list Vivians.

also as far as spells go. For this RP I am following the mama pool concept.

Meaning each spell drains mana, greater the spell the more it drains. The caster will also begin to tire if too much of it is drained.

As for how your character runs into the group. Well they are barely leaving the city.

Orcs or practically minor barbarians lol. Though in all honestly, sometimes I find orcs and half orcs underwhelming eve for combat. If you look at the 3.5 orcs, they have +2 to strength, dark vision... and that's it. A -2 to intelligence and charisma shoehorn them into martial or wisdom based classes. Compare to say, a half elf, who gets +2 to some handy skills, low light vision, immunity to sleep and +2 against enchantments.

I was almost tempted to ask you if I could buff half-orcs a bit, but then I figures you know what? Thus is fine. I didn't chose to be an orc for racial benefits. So what if everyone thinks I'm a fool, or as attractive as a rat's ass? So what if everyone expects me to be the dumb muscle? I don't need their boons and advantages. Weapon proficiency? Any weapon in my hands is more than enough. Skill bonuses? The only skills I need are the ones I've out effort into using. Racial feats? Being an orc is a feat in itself. Sure I'd appreciate more power, but sometimes being the best isn't measured by what you have, but how well you handle without.

Also nearly all of bishops spells are from the homebrewed menu.

Actually all my spells are from that menu...if you would be so kind as to show me any other menu, please do so. And I also deleted 2 paragraphs of my bio when I read that it had to be short and something must remain a mystery for later. So during the RP if the chance comes I'll reveal them. Also if you don't like anything about my post just notify me and I'll change them as soon as I can.
